Friday 29th March – U11 Girls and Boys Hockey Festival
Ben Rhydding HC (Hosted by Bradford Grammar School)
No results recorded
A lovely sunny afternoon on the banks of the River Wharf played set the scene for our final hockey
festival of the season. The boys and the girls competed in separate festivals with Gateways entering
2 boys’ teams and 1 girls’ team.
The girls performed superbly well winning 3 and drawing 1 of their 5 games. The boys had 5 wins
and 2 draws between them which is an excellent return for a group who are predominantly still two
years younger than their counterparts!
We thank our hosts, Bradford Grammar, for organising an excellent event and we look forward to
next season.

Monday 1st April – Gateways U11 / U9 Cross Country Invitational
180 children from 7 different schools descended upon the Gateways playing field on
Monday afternoon as the school played host to the final Cross Country event of the season.
It was a perfect evening for running and the Gateways children did themselves proud.
Nearly 40 Gateways students took part and they all contributed to a 4th and 5th placed
team finish in the U9s and U11s respectively. The standout performer on the evening was
Rebecca Kingston who finished 3rd in the U9 race despite still only being under 8!
Thank you to all the parents and staff who contributed to the event and thank you to the
other 6 schools for coming and contributing to a superb occasion.

Tuesday 2nd April – Gateways U9 Mixed Football Triangular
Gateways, once again, played host to a mini football tournament on Tuesday, this time for the U9
children. Richmond House and Froebelian joined us and made it up to 7 teams in total.
The 3 Gateways teams came away with 4 wins, a draw and two defeats on the afternoon which was
a great effort to end the season!
Once again, we got lucky with the weather, as the rain stayed away and everyone had an excellent
afternoon of sport.
Thank you to the opposition for supporting the event and we look forward to welcoming these
teams again in the summer for rounders, cricket and athletics. Finally, well done to all the children
taking part!

Tuesday 2nd April – Gateways U9 Netball v Bronte
The opposition brought two teams and we provided three teams as Gateways took on Bronte House
at netball.
The girls all played superbly well and it was a good opportunity for a lot of our younger girls to take
part in a fixture, some doing so for the first time.
Six games were played in total and the experience and enthusiasm from all the young players was
first class. A great way to finish the netball season and we look forward to developing their skills
against next September.
