The lease deed was executed before the Asst. Director of Mines & Geology,
Vizianagaram, vide proceedings No. 4294 /Q/20 71 , dated. 50 08. .2 170 for 10 years lease
period from 50 08. .2 170 to 40 08. .20 72 .

2.0 INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT/BACKGROUND INFORMATION

2.2 Brief Description of nature of the project

2.3 Need for the project and its importance to the country and or region.
In the present scenario, the Road Metal has good market in the country for construction
of buildings, roads, dams, etc., The available of 100% of Road Metal is useful.Therefore,
there won’t be any wastage.
2.4 Demand-supply Gap.
There is a demand forRoad Metal & Building Stone and is ever growing with the growth
of industrialsector in the country. The requirement of the mineral is always found high in
adjoining areas.
2.5 Imports V/s Indigenous production
Road Metal mined from the proposed project will neither be exported nor imported. It is
an indigenous production and will be supplied within the country.
2.6 Export Possibility
No export.
2.7 Domestic/ Export Markets
100% of the excavated road metal will be supplied to consumers for roads laying, earth
filling, infrastructure works etc.
2.8 Employment generation (Direct and Indirect due to the project)
The proposed project will generate direct employment to 07people of the poorest section
of the society, while benefitting more people indirectly.
3.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
3.1 Type of project including interlinked and interdependent projects, if any
The proposed mining project is mining of Road Metal & Building Stoneis open cast
method.
3.2 Location
The above said quarry lease falls in Toposheet No. 65N/8. The Quarry lease area is
located at a distance of about 2 kms from sompuram ( )V to its South-East Side. The Q.L
area is connected by Sompuram -Vizianagaram road.

3.3 Details of alternate sites considered
The mineral is site specific, hence there are no alternative sites considered. Mining
activities are carried out based on local geology and availability of the mineral.
3.4 Size or magnitude of operation
The firm intends to extract the Road Metal & Building Stone production for the tune of
10440.768Cu.m during the next five years scheme period.
During the scheme period it is proposed to exploit the Road Metal & Building stone from
the total area of 10000 M2to an average depth of 6 M. The mining will be initiated from
NE & SW of the mining lease area covering under Cross sections A-A’.
The year wise production proposed is shown in the following table.

3.5 Project description with process details
Opencast Mining:
The proposed mining is an open cast method of mining. The Road Metals by nature it is
medium hard. So blasting is mandatory for excavation of Road Metals.
The operations will involve drilling, blasting and excavators and directly loads into the
tippers/tractors. The same will be transporting to crushing units. The excavations will be
carried with bench height 5 to 10 meters and width 6 to 12 meters minimum. Haul roads
gradient will be 1:16.
The following machinery will be deployed by the company on hire basis

No raw material will be required in the proposed project.
3.7 Resource optimization/ recycling and reuse.
Generation of Sub-Grade or reject material and waste is nil. 100% of material will be
utilizedincluding dust or soil.
3.8 Availability of water its source, energy/ power requirement and source
3.8.1 Water Requirement

Around 1.5KLD of water will be required for the proposed project and will be met
through water tankers.
Water is required in the mine for spraying on the roads and working faces to suppress the
dust. Also a small quantity of drinking water is required.
3.9 Quantity of wastes to be generated (liquid and solid) and scheme for their
management/ disposal.
0.4 KLD of domestic waste water will be generated and disposed to septic tank followed
by soak pit and generation of sub grade or reject material and waste is nil.
3.9.1 Solid Waste Generation& its Disposal
100% of the produced Road Metal will be useful. Hence no needs of waste dump
management. The top soil will be preserved within the lease area for using reclamation of
the pit at the time of closure.
3.9.2 Liquid Effluent
0.4 KLD ofdomestic effluent will be generated at the mine site. Domestic Waste Water
generated will be send to septic tank followed by soak pit.
4.0 SITE ANALYSIS
4.1 Connectivity
The quarry lease area is connected by Jami-Vizianagaram road.
4.1.1 Nearest Railway Station
The nearest rail head is Alamanda Railway Station is at 4.98kms from the mine location.
4.1.2 Nearest Airport
The nearest airport facility is available at Visakhapatnam airport which is about 37.02
kms away from mine.
4.1.3 Nearest Highway
Nearest State Highwayat a distance of 11.02 kms from the mine site.
4.2 Land form, land use and land ownership
During the ensuing scheme period an area of 1.00 Ha.,mining will be done as per
approved mining plan. Measures will be taken for the reclamation only after the end of
mining scheme period.
4.3 Topography
Topographically the quarry lease area is covered with denudations in the range of 92 m to
140 m above mean sea. With reference to the Topomap 65N/8, the quarry lease area
covered between the 92 m and 140 m hills to the North-East side of mine area, 100 m hill
South-East side of mine area
4.4 Existing land use pattern
This Road Metal & Building Stone Quarry Lease area is surrounded by road metal
Quarries and open lands.
4.5 Existing infrastructure
There is no major construction is seen near to the mining lease area. An office/rest shelter
for the laborers shall be made.
4.6 Soil classification
� Weathered Rock and Soil cover up 0 to 1M from Surface Level.
� Road Metal 1 to 33 M.
4.7 Climatic data from secondary sources
CLIMATE & RAINFALL
The mining lease area experience semi-arid climatic condition. The mining lease area
experience 955mm average annual rainfall. The day temperature varies 28°C in winter
and about 35°C in summer season. The general wind direction is SW to NE & SE – NW.
4.8 Social infrastructure available
All the social infrastructure facilities like hospitals, schools, colleges etc are available
nearby villages, Mandalheadquarters.
Employment generation, Infrastructure development viz roads, power & water supply,
medical facilities in villages etc.
5.0 PLANNING BRIEF
5.1 Planning concept(Type of industries, facilities, transportation etc) Town and Country
Planning/Development authority Classification.
The lease area covers on hill slope on foot of the hill and topographically lowest and
highest contour elevations are RL 42M to RL 63 M respectively and arrived pit bottom
RL is about 33 M. The excavations will be carried with bench height 5 to 10 meters and
width 6 to 12 meters minimum.
5.2 Population projection
The project will employ nearly 08 workers from nearby villages. Thus, there will not be
any increase in population due to the project.

5.4 Assessment of Infrastructure Demand (Physical and Social)
Safety equipments, small rest shelter and first aid facilities will be made available for the
workers in the mine lease area.
5.5 Amenities/facilities
The following facilities will be extended by the mine management:
i. Direct and indirect Employment.
ii. Arrangement for safe and healthy working conditions.
iii. Provision of drinking water.
iv. Conducting medical camps for workers and nearby villagers at regular intervals.
v. Providing personal protective equipments (PPE)
6.0 PROPOSED INFRASTRUCTURE
6.1 Industrial area (Processing Area)
No Mineral processing will be carried out in the mine lease area. After excavation, the
Road Metals will be dispatched as per orders.
6.2 Residential area (Non Processing Area)
The mine workers will be hired from nearby villages, so residential areas will not be
made.
6.3 Green belt
Plantation will be made at open places and along the approach road.
6.4 Drinking Water Management
Water Requirement for drinking purpose is1.5 KLDwhich will be supplied by water
tankers.
6.5 Sewerage System
Domestic waste water generated will be send to septic tank followed by soak pit.
6.6 Industrial Waste Management
Not Applicable
6.7 Solid Waste management
100% of the produced Road Metal will be useful. Hence no needs of waste dump

6.8 Power Requirement & Supply/ Source
Not Applicable.
7.0 REHABILITATION AND RESETTLEMENT (R&R) PLAN
7.1 Policy to be adopted (Central/State) in respect of the project affected persons
including home out sees, land out sees and landless laborers (a brief outline to be
given)
No human settlements are existing in the ML area and no humans will be displaced from
the area so the proposed project does not involve any rehabilitation and resettlement.
8.0 PROJECT SCHEDULE & COST ESTIMATES
8.1 Likely date of start of construction and likely date of completion (Time schedule for
the project to be given)
The project will commence once Environmental Clearance and other necessary
certificates are obtained from the respective departments.
8.2 Estimated project cost along with analysis in terms of economic viability of the
project.
The cost of the project : 5.0 Lakhs
EMP Cost : 0.50 Lakhs
9.0 ANALYSIS OF PROPOSAL (Final recommendations)
9.1 The quarry lease applied area is surrounded by 5 villages within a distance of
5kms.Agriculture and sheep breeding are important profession of the people living in the
village besides involving themselves in quarrying activity. There is no adverse Socio
Economic Impact on the persons in the villages, due to the quarrying operations there is a
positive impact of the quarry operations on the socio economic standards of the villagers.
The quarrying activity in this area improved the socio-economic status of the local people
by virtue direct and indirect employment.
