EXHAUST AIR Exhaust from each space, is required to
maintain either a defined air change rate or to remove contaminants,
Exhaust is removed via an exhaust airflow control device that is connected to an exhaust manifold.
Exhaust manifold is then exhausted by roof mounted laboratory grade exhaust fans.
Both the variable air volume air handling units and the exhaust fans will be sized to provide 100% redundant capacity for animal areas and 60% redundancy for non-critical laboratory areas.

COOLING OF OUTSIDE AIR
Cooling of the outside air for laboratory areas and for outside air for building ventilation will be provided by a chilled water plant located in the Penthouse.
The chillers will be centrifugal water cooled chillers with variable speed primary chilled water pumps and variable speed condenser water pumps.
The chillers will reject heat to cooling towers mounted on the roof.

RE-HEAT AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Hot water for reheat purposes in the laboratory areas will be provided by condensing type gas-fired boilers located in the Penthouse.
Energy efficiency technologies will be utilized to minimize loads to the maximum extent reasonably possible without compromising system reliability.
