INVITATIONIt is with great pleasure that we invite you to participate in the second “Practical Responses to Climate Change” conference to be held in Canberra at the National Convention Centre from the 1-3 May 2012. The theme for 2012 is ‘Water and climate: policy implementation challenges’.

The conference in the nation’s capital will provide a forum for presenting strategies for managing a variable and changing climate through the lens of the water sector. It will be an opportunity for policy makers, engineers, scientists, planners and academics to present, hear and debate the latest research and practice on water and climate policy implementation challenges in urban, catchment and coastal environments. High profile national and international speakers will be brought together with delegates from around Australia and the world for a series of plenary lectures and contributed papers that will ensure a vibrant and interesting program. Workshops will be included to allow a forum for debate of key issues and also presentation and discussion of the most recent thinking.

About the ConferenceThe focus for the 2012 conference is to provide a forum for discussion and debate on practical responses to climate change, and the tagline, ‘Water and Climate: policy implementation challenges’.

The conference program will focus on the following five themes: Climate extremes; basin management; Urban and coastal planning; Economics, finance and social systems; and Policy implementation, governance and complexity.

Participants will be from a broad range of sectors including all levels of government, consulting, industry and researchers. This will be an opportunity for engineers, planners, local government representatives, water resource managers and anyone involved in the water sector to go beyond the science to grapple with how to respond in a practical way to the challenges of living with a variable and changing climate. It is anticipated that 300 delegates will attend.

Exhibitors are entitled to one complimentary full registration as part of the exhibition package. If you require other members of staff to be on your stand for the two days of the Conference, an additional exhibitor staff fee of $220 (incl GST) per staff member applies. This cost covers tea breaks, lunches and the Welcome Reception. This fee does not include admittance to Conference sessions, or the Conference Dinner.
