Prayer Seminar Hosted by Bunde CRC
Friday, November 3rd
6:30 pm The emphasis is on why we pray, what difference does it make and what should I pray for and expect an answer. These thoughts with many others will be discussed with us by Pastor David Huizenga, Pastor of Bridgewood Church of Minneapolis. We encourage all the area congregations to attend this prayer renewing training. Let us remember that prayer is the opening to God’s heart made available to us. A time of fellowship and refreshments following the seminar.

Tim and I wish to express our thanks to everyone for your many prayers and your on-going concern and encouragement through all his treatments the past couple of years. It is taking time to heal from the radiation but this week’s appointments were good. Praise God! We are so thankful for the people God has blessed out church with and the hope that we all have in Christ! We sure have felt your love. “And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.” 2 Corinthians 9:14

In the pre-Thanksgiving rush, we have received an early weather report from our in-house weather reporters. This is one that you should be sure to e-mail your Mom.
Turkeys will thaw in the morning, then warm in the oven to an afternoon high near 190F. The kitchen will turn hot and humid, and if you bother the cook, be ready for a severe squall or cold shoulder.
During the late afternoon and evening, the cold front of a knife will slice through the turkey, causing an accumulation of one to two inches on plates. Mashed potatoes will drift across one side while cranberry sauce creates slippery spots on the other. Please pass the gravy.
A weight watch and indigestion warning have been issued for the entire area, with increased stuffiness around the beltway. During the evening, the turkey will diminish and taper off to leftovers, dropping to a low of 34F in the refrigerator.
Looking ahead to Friday and Saturday, high pressure to eat sandwiches will be established. Flurries of leftovers can be expected both days with a 50 percent chance of scattered soup late in the day. We expect a warming trend where soup develops. By early next week, eating pressure will be low as the only wish left will be the bone.

Thanks to all who took part in the Area Wide Disability Service, and thanks to all for attending and your offering of $1431.25. The purpose for this service is that we can all see our purpose in God’s plan for our short lives here on this earth, whether we are able bodied or live with some disability. I think the message pointed out where ever we find ourselves we are all dependent on God. Each one of us is “created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Eph. 2:10. No matter what “ability” we find ourselves we can all serve our sovereign God. Let us all be diligent in serving each other.

Abby slid her lunch tray next to her best friend Charlotte’s. “Can you believe these cookies?” she complained,
tapping a hard chocolate chip cookie against her front tooth. “A squirrel couldn’t eat these!”
Charlotte shrugged. “They’re not so bad if you soak them first.” She dunked her cookie in a glass of milk and took a
bite. “See?”
“Oh yeah!” Abby said. “You’re always full of good ideas.”
“I wish.” Charlotte’s expression soured. “Maybe then I’d know how to get Sharon to quit pestering me. She’s such a
bully.”
Abby glanced across the cafeteria to where Sharon sat alone. She’d started teasing Abby and her friends after
learning they all went to the same church camp each summer. She called them “dumb” and “stuck-up” and claimed
that she’d never be caught dead in church, much less a summer camp for babies.
“Maybe we should invite her to Sunday school again,” Abby suggested with a nervous nibble of her cookie. She
knew it was the right thing to do even though she didn’t like Sharon very much, and the idea of seeing her in school
every day and church on Sundays tied her stomach in knots.
“Yeah, I guess,” Charlotte said. “She’s asked me questions about my faith before, but I got the feeling she was just
trying to pick a fight with me.”
Abby thought about it a while. Then she had an idea. “Hey, what if Sharon is like this cookie?”
Charlotte wrinkled her nose. “You want to dunk her in milk? I could go along with that.
Abby laughed. “No. I mean, what if Sharon needs some softening, too? We can’t change her heart, but we know
Someone who can. Let’s pray and ask God to help us and her. What do you think?”
“Okay,” Charlotte agreed finally, “but can we pray for better cookies, too?”
“Sure,” Abby said. “And maybe we should also go ask Sharon if she wants to join us for lunch.”
One Tough Cookie
Read: 1 Timothy 1:12-17
Do you know someone so mean or against God that they seem beyond salvation? The Bible is full of true stories about such people, like Paul, who persecuted Christians only to be used by God in a powerful way. You can’t work a miracle to change another person’s heart, but God can. Pray and ask God to soften that person’s heart, then do all you can to show them God’s love.
