Welcome to a time of contemplative prayer in the spirit of Taizé—at home! This month, the visual focal point for our

prayer is candlelight. Let the flame of the candles remind us that Christ is the light of the world and that the flame of the Holy Spirit burns within our hearts.

Settled in a prayerful space, we sing simple, repetitive songs, listen to the Word of God, pray for peace and reconciliation and engage in silent reflection. This meditative prayer practice allows the mystery of God to become tangible through the beauty of simplicity.

Prayer in the Taizé spirit often involves songs in more than one language, uniting us with Christians around the world. Even Latin is used, a neutral language that is easy to pronounce and does not favor any national group.

Bienvenidos a un tiempo de oración contemplativa en el espíritu de Taizé—¡en casa! Este mes, el punto focal para nuestros ojos la luz de las velas. Permitan las llamas de las velas nos recuerdan que Cristo es la luz del mundo y que el fuego del Espíritu Santo arde dentro de nuestros corazones.

Oremos en un lugar de oración, cantamos cantos sencillos y repetitivos, escuchamos a la Palabra de Dios, oramos por la paz y reconciliación y participamos en reflejo silencioso. Este estilo de oración permite el misterio de Dios a sentirse aquí

a través de la belleza de la simplicidad. La oración de Taizé usa cantos en más de un idioma, nos une con cristianos alrededor del mundo. Incluso el latín se está utilizando, porque es un idioma neutral, fácil de pronunciar y sin favorecer a ningún país.

Reading Romans 6:3-5, 8 (if we have died with Christ…)

Lectura Romanos 6, 3-5. 8. (hemos muerto junto a Cristo…)

Como ustedes saben, todos nosotros, al ser bautizados en Cristo Jesús, hemos sido sumergidos en su muerte. Por este bautismo en su muerte fuimos sepultados con Cristo, y así como Cristo fue resucitado de entre los muertos por la Gloria del Padre, así también nosotros empezamos una vida nueva. Una representación de su muerte nos injertó en él, pero compartiremos también su resurrección. Pero si hemos muerto junto a Cristo, debemos creer que también viviremos con él.

Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore we have been buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. But if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.

When we try to express communion with God in words, we rapidly reach the end of our capacities. But in the depths of our being, through the Holy Spirit, Christ is praying, far more than we imagine. Compared to the immensity of that hidden prayer of Christ in us, our explicit prayer dwindles to almost nothing. That is why silence is so essential in discovering the heart of prayer.

Cuando tratamos de expresar comunión con Dios en palabras, alcanzamos rápidamente el final de nuestras capacidades. Pero, en lo más profundo de nuestro ser, a través del Espíritu Santo, Cristo está orando, mucho más de lo que imaginamos. En comparación con la inmensidad de esa oración oculta de Cristo en nosotros, nuestra oración explícita se reduce a casi nada. Es por eso que el silencio es tan esencial para descubrir el corazón de la oración.

Oremos: Por todos los doctores, enfermeras,

asistentes médicos, paramédicos y asistentes de salud.

Por los pobres, los que tienen hambre, las personas que carecen de techo, y todos los que tienen necesidad.

Por los que sufren por la depresión, o que luchan con la adicción.

Por todos los que están enfermos, especialmente los que sufren de COVID‑19.

Por todos los que han muerto, esperando la resurrección.

Let us pray: For all doctors, nurses, physician

assistants, paramedics and health aides.

For all who or those who work on farms, in processing plants and at markets so that we continue to have a food supply.

For the poor, the hungry, the homeless, and all in need.

For those suffering from depression, or struggling with addiction.

For all who are sick, especially those who suffer from COVID-19.

For all who have died hoping in the resurrection.
