SERMONS

AM - God Love US Enough To (Romans 15:1-6) PM - The Backstory Will Impress You (Haggai 2:1-9)

Good morning! We are glad to gather and worship. It is such a blessing to glorify God and encourage each other. Our singing – our prayers – our focus on God’s word – our communion with Jesus at the table – our participation in our collective work in this congregation is vital to our spiritual walk. We invite you to join in whole-heartedly in our worship service. Have you heard about our ‘Elders Breakfast?’ You say, “What is that all about?” It began many years ago and rep-resents a time when our shepherds lay out the plan for our collective work as a congregation for the year. They will serve a breakfast in the fellowship hall – and then quickly transition to leading us in a discussion of the various aspects of the work for the year. Everyone will have an opportunity to ask questions – some of which can be an-swered in the meeting itself. We’ll talk about our work – dream about how God is using us – and pray for Him to strengthen us through the year. Please come – stay informed – stay engaged – and let’s work together in unity. Going on our Holy Land trip? Would you like to go? There will be a meeting this afternoon at 4:30 pm in the library.

Important information about the trip itself – along with materials that will help you prepare for the trip will be dis-tributed. Still want to go? Talk to me. Time is short

SASHA MALUGA

Dear brothers and sisters,

May we always remember Who saved us and gave us true life, may we remember that He came to this earth

for us! Jesus is all in all and what an honor it is to live for Him and serve Him! We love you and wish many

blessings to your congregation and to each and every member individually. May the Lord bless you and watch

over you!

A HUGE thank you from all our kids! They were able to get the shoes that they needed! What an amazing gift

you have been giving to them every fall! Our congregation is so blessed by your love for our children.

Not all the kids are on the pictures but most of them are. We wish you were here to see their happy eyes as

they got the new shoes (the pictures do not always show that)!

Last month we had out last refugee project for this year. We had a record number of families who turned out

for help-over 160! We can’t help a whole lot, but we can help them with cleaning supplies, a cup of tea with

cookies and some clothes that they need, especially for their children. Thank you so much for all the clothes

you send!

We continue to visit the Children’s Rehab center where children come from families with problems and many

are becoming social orphans. We grow closer and closer to those kids and they begin trusting us more, they

are more willing to open up and listen.

I continue to work in prisons. I go to two different prisons right now. I want to help those men to find hope, to

come to Jesus and it is a joy to see how some of them changed their lives after they were released. One of the

men who is currently a member at Poznyaki, Alexey, is a brother who I was studying with at prison about a

year and a half ago.

We were very busy with our special Christmas program this year. As always, we had a special Bible

knowledge contest for our children and teens on December 22nd. On December 29, we had a New Year Pot-

luck. Our Christmas play “12 Months” was scheduled for our Christmas Sunday-January 5th, and then we

had a Christmas celebration at the church building for those who want to celebrate together. Our family at-

tended along with 30 other members! It is a totally new project and we hope it will help us to feel that we are

a real family and will help us to enjoy the Christmas together! There is another new project this year-we are

having a group of teens who are going to L’viv (a city in the Western Ukraine) for a field trip for 2 days in Jan-

uary. There will be a group of 16 people-4 adults and 12 teens. We hope it will be a great experience for them

and will give a chance for the adults who are going with them to teach them through their example.

At the end of the year, as we look back, we thank God for blessing our family and our church family so much.

His hand is so evident in our life and ministry that we are in awe of His love and mercy. And we are thankful

to Him for the Germantown congregation, our family across the ocean, that became the source of our strength

in the midst of trials. We know that every good blessing comes from God- He sent you into our lives to grow

His kingdom in Ukraine and we are forever thankful to Him for that.

Our family is thankful to God and to our brothers and sisters for helping us to go through the difficult path

during the last two years since our oldest daughter Toma was diagnosed with a serious health condition. It

was not an easy path, sometime the only light at the end of the tunnel was God and not the doctors’ forecast.

At times we didn’t know what would happen and we were learning to trust God and love Him no matter what.

The Father has used this time to point to us very graphically and very clearly how much we are blessed by

having a loving spiritual family who prayed about Toma and our family, who helped us financially, who did

everything possible to make that path easier for us. And now looking back we see like never before-the power

of God in His people. Toma’s treatment is officially over and she is healthy and can continue her studies at the

Medical University. She is in school and should complete her studies in May to become a doctor.

UBI is about to face big changes. Jay Don and Mary Lee Rogers announced that they are planning to move

back to Canada in June. Brandon Price will be a new director at UBI. He and his wife Katie and their son

Justus moved to Kyiv in July. We are praying for the smooth transition and for the bright future for UBI, at

the same time we are very sad about the Rogers leaving, they became not just close friends but a family to us.

We are so thankful to you for supporting us and praying for us. Our family is very thankful for everything.

In Christian love,

Sasha, Natasha, Toma, and Regina
