ABOUT POWER-GEN INDIA & CENTRAL ASIA

India’s economy is rebounding strongly, with the International Monetary Fund projecting this South Asian nation will overtake China as the fastest growing emerging economy in this current fiscal year, posting a growth rate of 7.5 per cent.

Confidence is also returning to India’s electricity generation sector, with estimates that more than two-thirds of the 12th Five-Year Plan’s capacity addition target will be achieved in its first three years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is pressing ahead with his ambitious ‘24x7 power for all’ plan, which aims to bring an uninterrupted power supply to every household in the country by the end of this decade.

Coal will continue to be the backbone of the country’s power mix, but the emphasis will be on constructing more efficient and less polluting coal plants and modernizing existing subcritical facilities.

Greater renewable energy deployment is also high on the government’s agenda, illustrated by the decision to increase the 2022 target of the ambitious National Solar Mission from 20 GW to 100 GW. Further, wind power is also finding favour, with plans for an annual addition of 10,000 MW.

POWER-GEN India & Central Asia Conference and Exhibition returns to India’s seat of power, New Delhi. And once again this highly-respected annual event will deliver an educational and informative conference programme, along with a fantastic exhibition, showing the latest technologies and services from across the globe. Since its inception in 1996, POWER-GEN India & Central Asia strives to bring industry professionals from India and international experts together to exchange knowledge and share ideas about best practices and new technology developments, with the aim of providing solutions for the Indian power sector.

CONFERENCE TOPICSBelow is a list of technical topics that could be potentially covered in the conference programme for POWER-GEN India & Central Asia 2016. Your abstract should aim to cover one or more of these topics, however, it is not an exhaustive list.

ADVANCED COAL-FIRED POWER GENERATIONAs India seeks to bring electricity to all its citizens, coal will remain the backbone of its power generation sector for many years to come. The challenge, therefore, is how it can be utilized in the most efficient and least polluting way.

 Supercritical/Ultra-Supercritcal Technologies

Advances in Steam Turbine Design & Performance

 Combustion Optimization Technologies

 Instrumentation & Control Advances

 Asset Condition Monitoring

Operation & Maintenance – Case Studies

Refurbishment & Modernization – Case Studies

Environmental Control Systems (e.g. Flue Gas Cleaning, Ash Handling and Wastewater Treatment)

 Developments in Clean Coal Technology

GAS FIRED POWER GENERATIONIndia’s current installed capacity of gas-fired assets remains relatively small, because of the need to import the natural gas. However, this is an efficient and flexible way to generate power. Are there also opportunities to use other types of domestically-produced gas?

 High-Performance Gas Turbines

Advances in Gas Engines Design & Performance

 Combined-Cycle Plants – Case Studies

 Advances in HRSG Performance

Utilization of Unconventional Gases (e.g. industrial waste gases, landfill gas & biogas)

 Combustion Optimization Technologies

 Instrumentation & Control Advances

 Asset Condition Monitoring

 Flexible Operation – Case Studies

 Maintenance Strategies in Practice

Advances in NOx & SOx Control

ADVANCING NUCLEAR POWERIndia has developed its civil nuclear programme over many years, and currently has an installed capacity of around 5GW. However, if the sector is to continue to flourish there needs to be greater technological cooperation with international partners and companies.

 Innovative Reactor Designs (e.g. SMRs)

Advances in the Nuclear Fuel Cycle

 Steam Turbine Developments

 Safety Advances

 Instrumentation & Control Technologies

 Asset Condition Monitoring

Refurbishment & Modernization – Case Studies

 Waste Management & Decommissioning
