Prof. Abdulkareem stated this penultimate Saturday (May 18, 2019) while receiving a delegation of the Kwara State Agency for Mass Education at the Board Room of the Institute of Education, University of Ilorin. The delegation was on hand to support the Adult Literacy Programme of the Institute. Prof. Abdulkareem, who was represented at the event by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Bolaji Fatai Sule, said that the University is committed to improving the socio- economic well-being of its surrounding communities as exemplified in the Adult Literacy Programme initiated by the Institute of Education to assist in providing basic literacy and communication skills for the interested adults of the surrounding communities. The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, has restated the commitment of the institution to contribute meaningfully to the human

capacity and all-round transformation of its host communities.Prof. Abdulkareem stated this penultimate Saturday (May

18, 2019) while receiving a delegation of the Kwara State Agency for Mass Education at the Board Room of the Institute of Education, University of Ilorin. The delegation was on hand to support the Adult Literacy Programme of the Institute.

teaching, Dr. Etejere has handled so many courses as a Lecturer at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels right from the time she joined the services of the better by far University.

She also exported her "academic wizardry" to the Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, where she spent her sabbatical leave between October 2015 and October 2016,

She has attended 13 different training programmes. She is also privileged to have taken active part in more than 20 major conferences on different aspects of her discipline, all of which had positively impacted on her service delivery capacity to the University.

Dr. Etejere is also an intellectually-prolific scholar who has more than 29 well-researched articles, authored either singularly or jointly and all of which were published in reputable journals within and outside Nigeria.

Apart from her fascinating publications, Dr. Etejere has also supervised two Ph. D theses, 25 M a s t e r ' s d i s s e r t a t i o n s a n d innumerable Undergraduate Long-Essays, all of which have contributed and are still contributing one way or the other to the promotion of learning and general human development.

This eminent leader, erudite teacher and model mother is a

M e m b e r o f s e v e r a l professional bodies, including the British Educational Leadership, Management and Administration S o c i e t y ( B E L M A S ) , t h e Commonweal th Counci l for Educational Administration and Planning (CCEAM),the Nigerian Associat ion for Educat ional Administration and Planning (NAEAP) and, of course, the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (CTRN).

A quite religious fellow, she is the Matron of Girls Brigade, UMCA Chapel, Tanke, Ilorin.

Dr. Etejere, a committed educationist, fascinating scholar and distinguished administrator, is married and blessed with children.

KNOW YOUR DIRECTOR

D r . P a t r i c i a A g n e s Ovigueraye Etejere, a versat i le teacher and

outstanding administrator, is the Ag. Director, Centre for the Supportive Services for the Deaf (CSSD), University of Ilorin.

The Centre, which came into being on June 14, 1990, was specifically established to facilitate learning among students with hearing impairment in order to encourage that category of challenged people to progress steadily in their academic pursuit.

She is the 11th Head of the Centre and has been doing her best in ensuring that the Centre fulfills the essence of its establishment.

An indigene of Kokori Inland, Delta State, Dr. Etejere was born in Accra, Ghana, on March 17,1956.She had her primary education at Adedeinko Primary School, Accra, from 1961 to 1966.She was at Our Lady of Apostles Middle School, Cape Coast from 1966 to 1967 before proceeding to the Holy Child School, Cape Coast, also in Ghana, where she obtained her West African School Certificate in 1972.She also obtained her A' Level qualifications from the same institution in 1974.

On her return to Nigeria and while waiting for her admission into the University, Dr. Etejere taught briefly at Agbon Girls Grammar School, Okpara Inland, Delta State from 1974 to 1975.

She, thereafter, obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Second Class Upper Division) degree in English from the University of Ibadan in 1978.

For her subsequent degrees in Educational Management, Dr. Etejere attended the University of Ilorin from where she received both the M. Ed and Ph. D in 1991 and 2003, respectively.

This outstanding scholar had earlier received a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in 1985 and a Certificate in Data Processing and Management

Information System also from the University of Ilorin in 2006.

Dr. Etejere, who started her exciting public service career in 1979 as a teacher in Kwara State, has taught in various secondary schools across the state, before joining the services of her alma mater, the University of Ilorin, as Lecturer II on November 1, 2005.

She rose th rough the academic ladder courtesy of her intellectual industry, profound commitment to research and impactful community services to the status of a Senior Lecturer on October 1, 2014.

This enterprising scholar has contributed meaningfully to the growth and development of the University of Ilorin through her remarkable contributions as Level Adviser, which she posted between 2005 and 2015.She was also the Sandwich Co-ordinator for M. Ed E d u c a t i o n a l M a n a g e m e n t programme of the University between 2014 and 2015.

Dr. Etejere also served as the C o - o r d i n a t o r , P o s t g r a d u a t e Programmes of the Faculty of Education from 2017 to 2018.She also served as the Chairman, Undergraduate Programmes Review Committee between 2017 and 2018.She was the Faculty of Education Representative on the Business Committee of the Senate of the University of Ilorin from 2018 till date, to mention a few of the administrative responsibilities she was saddled with over the years.
