Ondaplast – the history• Ondaplast was founded in 1982, in Romagna, Italy. • Since the founder was already active in the hollow

glass sector, the starting point was the production of layer pads.

• Today Ondaplast production mission is the extrusion of polypropylene, in corrugated and solid sheets as well as a number of converting processes

• The range of application is very wide, from industrial to food and pharmaceutical packaging.

InvestmentsR&D

Joint Research with Bologna University:• Use of nano-components (nano-fillers) to improve

mechanical and chemical properties• New components to increase resistance to fire,

bacteria, etc• Scientific characterization of the products

Investments: •in new technologies and research exceeds 10% of the annual turnover. •in the last two years, nearly 6 mln euro has been invested to improve efficiency, production quality and capacity

AntibacteriaCoding

NanotechnologyThe Nanofillers are added to polymers in order to improve the following features : Improvement of mechanical featuresLightnessHeat Deflection TemperatureBarrier properties (e.g. with reference to Oxygen,

Nitrogen, and CO2)Resistance to fire (flame retardant properties= Improved abrasion resistance Important: nanofillers are – for the time being – FDA

certified for food contact. European certifications are ongoing.

Improved compatibility with polar components (such as paints, inks, ….)

• Same weight with improved features: increased resistance to shock, lower deformation because of compression along with reduced brittleness

• Improved abrasion resistance, to have a longer life cycle and also to reduce the release of plastic crumbles

• Cost differenceIt is possible to compare pads with same

weight or with same overall resistance:• same weight -> +9%• same features/lower weight -> 1,5%
