- It is carnivore.- It eats fish, turtles, anacondas or caimans (small crocodiles). - It also eats larger animals such as deer, peccaries, capybaras, and tapirs.- It hunts mammals, reptiles, birds, and eggs.

- Its roar is between a cough and a growl.

- People can hear its roar for many hundred meters.
