So Much to Celebrate!!!!
Healthy, effective organizations make recognition and celebration part of
their everyday functioning—it’s just the way they do things. (Sustaining
Reading First, RMC Reading Corporation).
Lake Youngs is a healthy, effective organization. While we have regular
recognition and celebrations throughout the year, the season of ultimate
celebration is upon us!!

Great and Golden Grizzlies, academic, sports, music and talents are
valued and acknowledged at Lake Youngs. We look forward to continuing the
recognition and celebration in the week ahead. Thank you and congratulations

END OF YEAR CHOIR PARTY
There will be an end of the year Choir party in
Mr. Gordon’s room on
Wednesday, June 17th at
8:30 am for current choir
students.

INTERSCHOLASTIC PARTICIPATION
INFORMATION
If you have students going into middle school
that plan to participate in sports, they MUST
have a physical dated after June 1st and
complete a registration/physical packet.
These packets are now
available in the information
rack outside of the office.
Free Preschool Head Start & ECEAP are accepting applications for the 2015-16 school year.
Families who have children who are 3 & 4 years old by August 31st, 2015, who come from a family of low income, or are homeless, or an income eligible family who’s child has a current IEP from a school district,
or have someone in the house receiving SSI/SSA or TANF are eligible to apply for these programs.
These FREE programs offer quality part-day and six hour preschool classes, nutritious meals, health & developmental screenings, family support services, and parent events, education, & leadership opportunities.
Some transportation services are available.

EXTRA DAY OF ASB SNACK SALES!!
ASB snack sales will be at lunch
recesses on Thursday and Friday this
week. You have the option of
purchasing Fruit by the Foot and Rice
Krispie treats. The cost is $.50 per
item with a limit of 2 items per
student. Please do not send bills
larger than $5.00 as it is difficult to
make change.
Family Dance Night!
Please join us for a family dance night in the Lake Youngs gym from
6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, June 11th. Ms. Shillinger and Mr. Gordon have
been teaching many fun dances throughout our
“Pusic” unit which the students would love to
teach to you! Grandparents, baby siblings, neighbors – all are
welcome! Cold refreshments will be provided. Your ticket in the
door = one dozen cookies per household. Please label your
cookies if they contain peanuts or other allergens. We look forward
to seeing you at our dance night!
MOVING THIS SUMMER?
If you are moving this summer and your student(s) will not be
returning to Lake Youngs in the fall of 2015, please fill out this slip and
return it to the Lake Youngs front office. Thank You!

END OF YEAR REPORT CARD
If your student will not be here
on the last day of school and you
would like their report card,
please provide a self-addressed,
stamped envelope so that we can
mail it to you.
SCHOOL FINES
If your student has Library fines or a negative lunch balance those will need to be cleared up before they can receive their report cards. Thank you for taking care of this very important matter.
SPACE AVAILABILITY BUS PASSES
All students requesting Space Availability bus
transportation for the 2015-2016 school year should
submit an application online at the KSD Website.

after August 12th to be placed on
a waiting list. Blue passes will not
be issued at the schools.
YEARBOOKS FOR SALE!
If you have not purchased your yearbook it is
not too late. Yearbooks will be sold before
and after school on June
17th and 18th. The cost will
be $20.00 and it is first come-
first served.
SUMMER CAMP OPPORTUNITY
The City of Covington is offering some
wonderful camps this summer through Growing
Green Kids. These classes are taught right
across the street from Lake Youngs and the
address is 20258—142nd Ave. SE. Participants
can register by calling the Covington parks and
Recreation Department at
(253) 480-2480. For
more information
regarding Growing Green
Kids please visit their

POSITIVE LUNCH MONEY
BALANCES
Positive lunch balances will carry over
into the next school year. This will occur
automatically, even if your child will be attending a
different school within the Kent School District.
This also includes secondary schools. To add money
to your child’s account, please go to the Kent
School District website and follow the link to Lunch
Money Now.
