The children have enjoyed exploring different textures using their hands, tasting different foods, listening to different sounds and smelling lots of different things. The children loved using edible paint to mark make with as they could explore this with lots of their senses! COMING UP THIS MONTH UPCOMING EVENTS 5 th November BONFIRE NIGHT The children will be taking part in making their own firework creations using lots of different mark making materials. 10 th November REMEMBERANCE SUNDAY The children will be making poppies to take home. 13 th 17 th November CHILDREN IN NEED WEEK Throughout the week the children will be taking part in lots of activities. On Monday the 13 th the children can were spots to nursery to support children in need. During the week they children will be getting creative making their own children in need eyepatches. On Friday the 17 th , we will be holding a cake sale. 13 th November WORLD KINDNESS DAY During the day we will be talking to the children about how to be kind to others and will be creating our own kind worlds to take home.

MONTHLY FOCUS FIVE SENSES Throughout November, we are going to explore the five senses further. We will be doing different textured messy play, exploring smelling bags and looking at familiar sounds using the interactive board.

DURING OCTOBER WE HAVE WELCOMED NIAMH AND CHARLOTTE TO THE BUSY BEES ROOM. THEY BOTH WORK FULL TIME AND HAVE SETTLED WELL IN TO THE ROOM. RACHAEL WILL CONTINUE TO BE THE ROOM LEADER AND DEMI IS ALSO STAYING IN THE ROOM.

REMINDERS

NAPPIES Please ensure you check the daily diaries for messages regarding your child needing more nappies. If your child is running low on nappies we will let you know in the nappies section of your daily diaries and verbally upon collection.

SPARE CLOTHES AND COAT Please bring a bag for your child with a spare change of clothes inside. As the weather is now much colder, please ensure your children bring a coat and have enough layers on to continue with our outdoor activities. If the weather is particularly cold, please bring a hat and gloves.

PARENT CHALLENGE BABY PHOTOGRAPHS Could you please send pictures of your child as a baby to us via eylog or email. These will be displayed on our ‘I am unique’ display board.

EXTRA ACTIVITIES

JUMPING JACKS During October, the children enjoyed using the colored rainbow parachute during jumping jacks. They liked identifying the different colours and throwing the colored stars in to the air.

FOCUS OF THE MONTH In Honey Bee’s the plod has been food. The children have enjoyed exploring the tastes and textures of different food using their five senses. We explored in different cereals using our hands and feet, we also used different resources such as pots and pans filling and emptying. The children loved tasting the different food such as sweet, soup, dry and wet foods. The children used different sized and shape foods to make marks using paint.

We will also be creating some positive picture to share with family and friends. 30th Nov – St Andrews day Children can wear blue and white items of clothing to support St Andrews day and we will also be taking part in some creative activities such as making flags.

MONTHLY FOCUS FOOD! The children have been focusing on food the past month in the room, exploring their senses. We are going to be continuing with this over the next month introducing exploring in wet, sticky, dry, hard and textured messy play using our whole bodies. We are also going to tasting different fruits from around the world that the children are unfamiliar with.

STAFF CHANGES Heidi will continue to be the room leader in Honey bee’s working alongside Lauren S who in the apprentice in the room. Nikita and Leah will be the 3rd member of staff in the room, job sharing Nikita works (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and Leah works (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). Charlotte is now working in the Busy bee’s room so due to staff changes there with be key group changes, Heidi will inform you if your child now has a different key worker and introduce you to the new members of the staff in the room.

Mum’s play and stay session

WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING? We have had a busy October at Garston nursery: A group of Pre-School children attended a pumpkin picking session with Mike and Rachael. They brought back lots of pumpkins to carve at nursery. We welcomed Mums to a spooky Halloween crafts session at nursery with their little ones. Mums had lots of fun taking part in Halloween themed activities. Children in all rooms took part in a lovely activity celebrating Diwali, children enjoyed a themed dancing session and a candle lit meal with their friends.

COMING UP THIS MONTH

UPCOMING EVENTS 10th November Bake it for babies- We will be holding a cake sale in aid of the Lullaby trust, children will be able to bake some delicious cakes for us to sell 13th to 17th November Children in need week. We will be holding fundraising events around the nursery to support this wonderful charity 13th November World Kindness day, our children will be taking part in some lovely arts and crafts activities and sharing our art work with our families and friends showing kindness 30th November St. Andrews Day, Children can wear blue and white items of clothing and creating flags to celebrate St. Andrews Day Check out our blog for photos of events!

FOCUS OF THE MONTH PLOD Our focus this month is Songs and rhymes as the children love being involved in activities such as actions songs using puppets and caterpillar music, we have also done various activities such as playdough- we created our own characters from the ginger bread man rhyme which is improving our fine motor skills and caterpillar music with Emma which we have every other Thursday- this sessions

encourages the children explore music and rhyme and improve communication by copying familiar sounds and words. This is Finley enjoying caterpillar music, he babbling and smiled throughout the session and loved exploring the puppets.

MONTHLY FOCUS This month we are continuing to focus on our nursery rhymes and we are also going to be introducing a new sensory area in our room, the children will love exploring different textures and bright lights which will help bring along their physical development and communication.

The children in Worker bees have had lots of fun exploring and focusing in our planting area. The children

found vegetables they had recently planted. Worker bees were so excited to find tomatoes, lettuces and a huge pumpkin that we will use to develop into a

MONTHLY FOCUS For the month of November, we will be

focusing on food and nutrition and fueling our bodies. We will be working alongside Mike our Food and Nutrition Manager to provide or children with information and activities based around health food and

living. Children will experience physical activities and how before, during and after we can

fuel our bodies.

Children will also continue to choose their weekly restaurant menu during group

time.

STAFF CHANGES We would like to welcome Melanie into our pre school room, Melanie is studying NVQ Level 2 in child care. Melanie has been with our company for a short period of time and has settled in with our team really well and she loves to see the children learn and develop.

MOVEMA Movema is a new dance company who now attend Honey Pot Nurseries, they promote culture and religion through music and dance. Worker bees have loved their first Movema session in the month of October
