Linear & Modular assessment

• We offer 2 types of courses at level 3.

• A Level assessment – 2 years of study followed by 2

or 3 exams at the end of Year 13. These are

supported by internal mocks in May of Y12,

December of Y13 and April of Y13.

• BTEC assessment – 2 years of study assessed in a

modular way. Normally this includes coursework in

Y12, followed by one exam at the end of Y12. An

exam in January of Year 13, followed by coursework

in year 13. This is all added together to create a

Pass, Merit or Distinction grade.

Post 16 Bursary is available to help support students with equipment, travel to work

placements, to allow them to adhere to Post 16 dress code and other one off costs to

support them to succeed at Post 16.

Bursary is means tested based on whole household income:

• Band 1: Annual household income of £16,190 or less students get free meal and

100% of costs (travel, books, equip, uniform)

• Band 2: Annual household income of £16,190 - £20,187 students get free meal and

70% of costs

• Band 3: Annual household income of £20,187 - £25,521 students get 50% of costs

If you wish to apply for Bursary please take a letter at the end of the presentation and

return to Miss Brazil, with evidence of household income by Friday 27th September

2019.

Normally local or Universities that have proved popular

with our students make offers at around 100 – 120 points.

Target setting: Y12

Your Y13 target grades are calculated based on

your GCSE performance

There targets are aspirational and therefore will

need working towards over 2 years

It’s not unusual for early assessment in Y12 for

students to be beneath their target grades.

Students will need to show a resilient attitude and

show perseverance as they work towards them.

Post 16 Attendance Policy

Aim

Our aim is to encourage and support all Post 16 students to attain 100%

attendance. Our minimum expectation is 95% and if students fall

beneath this without a valid reason then you will be contacted.

Good attendance at school is important for student development and

achievement and our expectation is that students, parents/carers and

school will work together to ensure that students attend school and

access the appropriate Post 16 education.

Students in Y12 are expected to be in 5 days a week from 8:50 a.m.

until 3:10 p.m.
