To ensure the safety of our students especially going to and from school, especially when the mornings are nice and brisk we ask for your support not to park in the staff carpark. The gates will be closed from 8am in the morning and reopening at 5pm in the afternoon, to allow staff only entry and exit to the carpark. This is not only to ensure student safety but also the safety of our students that are being transported by the department to school and equipment which may be in that area. We thankyou for your assistance and support in this change to our routine, ensuring all our students are safe everywhere at all times. As part of our ‘Assessment and Reporting’ Process, we invite all parents to attend a ‘Parent Teacher Interview’ to discuss your child’s progress. To support our staff in gathering consistent information as part of our reporting process, the staff have currently been participating in professional learning reviewing our Literacy Block and Guided Reading practices. Our goal, is for Parklea students to become ‘balanced readers through a consistent whole school, quality, teaching and learning of reading’. The recent Literacy Summit provided current research that shows the importance of students reading at home, which was reinforced by the results of our parent and student reading surveys, thankyou for the time to participate in this. The following table shows significant outcomes and we therefore re-iterate the need for your child to read at home every day. As the weather is becoming cooler, it’s important that students are responsible for wearing appropriate warm clothing, including jumpers and jackets on cooler days.
