July 2018 Position: PHP / Laravel Developer Reports to: Chief Marketing Officer Position description: The Global Orphan Project, a Kansas City-based non-profit, is looking for a PHP / Laravel developer. The right candidate is a proven, productive, IT professional specialized in developing web applications using Laravel Framework within PHP programming language. The PHP / Laravel Developer will be part of a growing tech team reporting to The Global Orphan Project Chief Marketing Officer. This individual will develop and maintain an innovative and proprietary web-based PHP application while also supporting the web development needs of the marketing/communications team. This is a full-time position and, therefore, qualifies for participation in GO Project benefits. Salary is commensurate with relevant skills and experience. Primary duties and responsibilities: Develop, record and maintain cutting edge web-based PHP applications on portal plus premium service platforms, specifically our proprietary software CarePortal and database Build innovative, state-of-the-art applications and collaborate with Marketing, Communications and Finance teams Ensure HTML, CSS, and shared JavaScript is valid and consistent across applications Prepare and maintain all applications utilizing standard development tools Utilize backend data services and contribute to increase existing data services API Lead the entire web application development life cycle right from concept stage to delivery and post launch support Convey effectively with all task progress, evaluations, suggestions, schedules along with technical and process issues Document the development process, architecture, and standard components Coordinate with co-developers and keep project manager well informed of the status of development effort and serves as liaison between development staff and project manager Keep abreast of new trends and best practices in web development Required skills and qualifications: Previous working experience as a PHP / Laravel developer for 3-5 year(s) BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or similar relevant field experience In depth knowledge of object-oriented PHP and Laravel 5 PHP Framework Hands on experience with SQL schema design, SOLID principles, REST API design Software testing (PHPUnit, PHPSpec, Behat) MySQL profiling and query optimization
