Position Available Immediately: DevOps Engineer The World Wide Workshop (501c3) seeks to hire immediately a DevOps Engineer to join an innovative and growing team dedicated to transforming K12 education by teaching coding through game design. The DevOps Engineer will have a direct impact on thousands of students that use our online blended learning platform. Position is based in the NYC office and reports to the Vice President of Technology. About the Position The full time DevOps Engineer will work closely with the development team building the tools to manage, deploy, monitor and scale a cloud-based infrastructure. They will be an automation maven, working to eliminate all manual repetitious tasks and increasing deployment efficiency and reliability. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated with a thorough understanding of existing deployment tools, the willingness to dive into complicated problems, and the capacity to stay abreast of the latest deployment tools and techniques. Responsibilities 1. Analyze, design, create, maintain, and enhance cloud computing infrastructure, infrastructure automation, security, and monitoring systems 2. Ensure the quality and scalability of code that gets deployed to production using a variety of test automation tools 3. Resolve highly complex availability, capacity, security and performance issues 4. Assist with vendor evaluation, selection, and ongoing management 5. Monitor, maintain, and manage backup systems 6. Develop downtime and disaster recovery procedures for responsible systems Required Qualifications Experience administering high-volume Linux systems and deploying cloud applications Advanced scripting skills in Bash, Perl, and/or Python Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, SSL, SSH, and SMTP Ability to quickly learn and develop expertise in existing applications and architectures Ability to contribute to multiple projects / demands simultaneously Complex problem resolution skills, root cause analysis and technical support for delivery systems Strong inter-personal and communication skills Energetic self-starter who thrives in a start-up environment Desired Qualifications Hands on experience with CentOS or Redhat Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP Development experience using PHP, JavaScript, JSON, AJAX and RESTful APIs Experience with AWS Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), AWS Elastic Load Balancers (ELB), and AWS Simple Storage Service (S3) Experience with VLANS, network load balancing (NLB), clustering, and MySQL replication Experience with Content Distribution Networks (CDNs) Experience with: Git, Vagrant, Puppet, Chef, and Jenkins Experience with MediaWiki, Joomla, and CodeIgniter Please email cover letter, resume and references to: [email protected] The World Wide Workshop is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from all qualified individuals including women, people of color, persons with disabilities, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals.
