Migration of SOFTLAYER platform
• Moved from Amsterdam to London, Chessington
• New Datacentre is part of IBM’s $1.2bn investment in cloud

What did we do…? Data warehouse
– Challenges reporting across a number of sources,
mapping the rules, and unifying figures and business
categories to use data from all systems.
– Data inbound uses Assimil8 tools to clean up data
– The data warehouse brings in data and builds our
reporting models which are best structured for
efficient reporting and timely response times.
– Running at approx. 30 million + records
– Historic data back to 2012.

Defra CO2
Defra now provide aviation factors for international flights between non-UK destinations. Although this is
a relatively high level analysis it will allow Portman to use conversion factors for air travel flying
between countries outside the UK.
CO2 figures can be provided for those clients that do not wish to use Accuvio. Portman will able to
provide figures for:
• CO2 – Carbon Dioxide
• CO2e – Carbon Dioxide Equivalent - allows other greenhouse gas emissions to be expressed in
terms of CO2 based on their relative global warming potential (GWP).
• CH4 – Methane
• N2O – Nitrous Oxide
Vincenty
City location table obtained from OAG.
Calculated >2.1m geodesic distances, using
latitude/longitude (in numeric [decimal] degrees) and
Vincenty’s formula. This provides:
• Route Distance
• Route Destination
• Farthest Distance
• Sector Distance
Distances can be reported in Metres, Kilometres or Miles.
