Subject: Sen. Portman I'm Disappointed You Voted Against Good Jobs

    Dear Senator Portman,

With nearly 30 million Americans unemployed or seeking more work, President Obama's American JobsAct is a critical piece of legislation that would create almost two million good jobs and put our economyback on the path to recovery. It should have passed.

Your vote against the American Jobs Act proves that you don't understand the struggles of everydayAmericans.

Instead of ignoring the millions of unemployed across the country, and siding with millionaires andbillionaires, you, Senator, should be helping working families put food on the table, fill up our gas tanks, help us keep our homes and provide a better future for our children.

I'm very disappointed that you are not representing my views inCongress! It's time for you to think "outside the Republicanbox!"

Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stopholding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need.

    Sincerely,Mrs. Constance Rubin

I am appalled that a plan to create, jobs at a time when we arebleeding unemployment, can not pass on "ideological" grounds, based in making President Obama a one term president. Forget the pledgeto not raise taxses and get this country back to work!

    Mr. Portman,

It your responsibility as an elected official to carry out the wishesof your constituents. The polls are clear what is wanted. Your partyof NO and its agenda is further trying to destroy Middle Class America.

Instead of focusing on our economy and the high unemployment rate I seewhere your party is back to infringing on the right of women. Well,Mr. Portman where is the focus on creating jobs and putting Americansback to work? I would like a response to this. I think you have morepressing things to concern yourself with. Women's health will notcreate one job, so why is your party even going there at this time?Shame on your Mr. Portman and your party.

And by the way, stay out of women's health. It's really not any ofyour business!

I am one of the people who has run out of unemployment and has beenapplying for jobs for the past two years. Being 51 years old and out ofwork I am finding I am being discriminated against because I am nowoverqualified for almost every job I apply for. How about passingsomething that as long as I am willing to work for the wage and I am atleast qualified for the job they should hire me. I have not missed a

day of work in years. They seem to be hiring the least qualifiedworkers so they will be justified paying lower wages.

Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stopholding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need.

President Obama has kept his word and come up with a jobs plan thatincludes Republican ideas as well as Democratic ones. To vote againstthis plan shows that you are among those who are determined to destroyour Republic. To be against just because you belong to a party and/orreceive money from corporations rather than people without greed astheir goal cannot be good for America. Corporations/investment brokers/

lending institutions drove us into this recession because Busheliminated the restrictions/requirement through Executive privilege. They recorded record profits while the average middle class/lowermiddle class was forced to file bankruptcy. Bankruptcies grewexponentionally during that time and the companies did not create jobsjust filed higher and higher profits. So regular people lost all trustin businesses to help the economy. I believe George Washington spokeabout the against/against behaviors of the political parties as thedestruction of our government. If the bill does get passed and thingsget worse, we will definitely have you to thank as we suffer and youcontinue to make a good living.

-Senator Portman,You could have gained 40,700 good jobs for Ohio if you had voted forthe President Obama's American Jobs Act.

Why are you so against jobs for Ohio? Why do you hate Ohio citizens?

Are you so political that you want GOP power in the White House at theexpense of Ohio?

You and your cohorts continue your "War On Women" and ignorethe pressing need to boost the economy. Why is that?

You and your political party gave a boost to the wars in the middleeast, building schools, bridges, roads there and continue to ignore theneeds in our nation. Why is that? Putting Americans back to work here will help theeconomy. Why are you so anti-American?

I do not want another of your form letters in response to this mesage.

I want you to know that I am very much in favor of President Obama'splan for improving our infrastructure and creating new (much needed)jobs. It also makes sense to me to have the wealthiest Americans (thosethat can afford it) pay more in taxes to fund this plan. Obviously,trickle-down economics doesn't work. Dear Sir:I know you fervently believe in the Republican ideology of small government, no tax increases andbalanced budgets, but I can't also help but believe you are also just part of the Republican railroad trying todump Obama. This means you'll say no to almost anything he proposes. I'm sorry but you're wrong, not asmuch because of your politics as because of your ideology.

Without big government, there would be no space program. Without big government there would be nointernet. Without big government during WWII there would have been no steel industry. Without biggovernment those who have availed themselves of higher education since WWII would not have done so.Without big government, there would be no interstate highway system in this country. Without biggovernment, we wouldn't have the electrical grid we have in the USA. Without big government, far fewerof the elderly would have medical care, and therefore we wouldn't have been the innovation we have in themedical and drug field today. And, most importantly, without big government, PRIVATE INDUSTRYwould never have seen the opportunities for profit that are offshoots of these things, and never parted withtheir money to develop them themselves.

So please get out of the way sir, and let what you cal "big government": spend our way out of thisrecession/depression that all the republican bankers have caused by greedily making loans they know theshouldn't have made.

Senator Portman,Why is it that we continue to see that youact in the corporations best interest and not in the interest of thepeople that voted you into office. I sit here in awe of the selfishnessof you and the party that you support. That is what I see in the mediaeach and every day - the battle between Republicans and Democrats. Why

do you have this intent in defeating this Jobs Bill but have nosolution of your own in putting out of work Americans back to work. Youkeep giving to these corporations that leave the states and take thethousands of jobs with them to other countries. You, Senator Portman, have become another self serving politician who could have become a manof solutions and made a difference and stood up for the working man. Iwork an average 40 to 60 hour week and have two children in college andwhen I repair something I know I earn my income each and every day. Mycustomers want me back because they have confidence that I will fix theequipment that they have problems with. You, on the other hand, willcontinue breaking the system and eventually will see, at election time, what myself and other voters will see as "our solution". Anew senator!

Sincerely,John Nagle, 17211 Melgrave Ave., Cleveland, OH 44135
