Assignment/Activity Title— Feminism Essay Year— Freshman Skill— Research Portfolio Category— Critical reasoning When I first began writing this paper I didn’t intend to spend as much time as I did researching the ideals and topics involved with the writing. I figured that I would be able to develop a thesis with the snap of my fingers, and that the who process would be a laid back, black or white kind of decision. I was horribly mistaken if I thought I would invest less time than I had in other CAP essays that required critical reasoning. I began analyze all of the given sources and rewrote my thesis more than a dozen times due to a last minute change of mind. It seemed almost impossible that I could be that in decisive with my choices. With the other entry in this category, my Critical Thinking paper, I was able to create my thesis with some strong research, and was not forced into a moral dilemma. Regardless of the hard thought process, I was able to write my thesis for this paper, and this shows my growth in this category in particular. It is necessary to include this piece in my portfolio because not only does it show growth in the category of critical reasoning, but it displays the battle over feminism, and captures current social issues. Another reason is because the paper is applicable to multiple categories making it all the more relevant to my portfolio. I chose to put this under critical reasoning since this paper required research and the creation of a supported thesis more than anything. Fellow CAP students when reading this essay of mine might choose not to agree with my thesis and points, but in my opinion they will respect the research and time I put into the writing of this. Reactions might range from complete outrage to understanding, but above all they will value the structure of the paper. To first begin this long and winding process read and made notes of the sources out teacher had given us to complete the assignment. The majority of the sources were found online, but he did entrust us with a photocopied chapter from a book on the ideals of feminism. When I had gotten through reading these I started to develop a thesis, and this part might have taken the longest out of all the sections of my process. As I explained earlier I couldn’t seem to decide on a concrete thesis, although when I did the rest of the sequence was relatively easy. From there on I laid down my points and found quotes to back them up all the while reshaping and editing the essay as I scrambled along. If I had the chance to recreate the essay I might have spent more time on the research of the quotes and editing of the paper than creating my thesis. Sadly since this took up more time than I expected and I fear that my paper was not forged with the excellency that it was intended to be. If I had spent more time researching my quotes and rewriting grammatical mistakes the paper might

Assignment/Activity Title Feminism EssayYear Freshman Skill ResearchPortfolio Category Critical reasoning When I first began writing this paper I didnt intend to spend as much time as I did researching the ideals and topics involved with the writing. I figured that I would be able to develop a thesis with the snap of my fingers, and that the who process would be a laid back, black or white kind of decision. I was horribly mistaken if I thought I would invest less time than I had in other CAP essays that required critical reasoning.

As I explained earlier I couldnt seem to decide on a concrete thesis, although when I did the rest of the sequence was relatively easy.

If I had spent more time researching my quotes and rewriting grammatical mistakes the paper might have been A material rather than the high B I received. This portfolio entry in particular has shown me that not every essay obstacle I am to come across in my CAP career will have a defined moral answer. My Critical Thinking paper questioned the means of solving an issue everyone agreed was an awful turn of events, rather than a topic that brings out heated debates. I am certain that there will be examples of both to come in the future but it is essential that I am ready to carry out the writing of both kinds of essays. The accomplishment that makes me the most proud of this assignment would have to be the fact that I took my time writing a delicately crafted thesis rather than caving in. I hope for all my papers to be as challenging as this one.
