BRIEF

Create a set of book cover designs for these classic titles, using type as image or iconography.

Madame Bovary/ great Expectations/ Wuthering Heights/ sense and sensibility/ Cranford/ tess of the D’Urbervilles/ Pride and Prejudice/ Crime and punishment/ Jane Eyre/ The picture of Dorian Gray.

CONCEPT - Don’t judge a book by its cover

DESCRIPTION

book covers focus on attention grabbing quotes taken from the book and displayed in vivid colours. The quotes give the book a unique quality since the focus isn’t only on the title but it absorbs the viewer in to find out what is going on. The decision to use hand drawn type in this way, was to appeal to a younger target audience giving the book a more quirky and fun vibe. Since these books are quite serious I decided to go in a different direction to this so that the target market will want to pick it up and read what it is about.

SKATEBOARD ILLUSTRATIONS

BRIEF

Design a logo and skateboard designs for the new Skate company ‘Animal chin ramp’.DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION

A set of 4 skateboard hand drawn illustrations have been digitised, the colour was altered on screen to create a brighter more vivid design, which will appeal more to the younger skaters. Playing around with the illustrations I found that using close ups of them work better than placing the whole image on the product, It shows the detail of them more and fills the skateboard space creating a really nice finish.

Designs focus on Organic natural type, working with the environment aspect of body shop and self esteem, by creating beau-tiful, eye catching hand rendered type. Playing on the holistic views that body shop has.

POSTER DESIGNS

BRIEF

Create a set of two influential posters based on the theme dreams

DESCRIPTION

younger girls aged 8-16.

DESCRIPTION

The posters use quotes about dreams made into a type as image poster. I chose to use a simple hairstyle design since I feel this is the type of imagery younger girls will go for, rather than focusing on the obvious brain or head design.

CONCEPTDahl was a master of language and of making up words. His stories are full of fabulous visual twists and turns

DESCRIPTIONFocusses on one quote from each of the books. The quotes are re-ally strong and magical so they are the main focus on the cover. This will intrigue the viewer and make them pick it up to find out what the book is.

The title of the book has been made into a little logo, which is then read second to the quote (the colours are chosen so the title stands out more)

Raise awareness of Tiger as a premium beer by reinforcing its genu-ine Far Eastern heritage

CONCEPT

Limited edition packaging design. Focussing on the enjoyment of beer drinking with a far eastern style incorporated.

DESCRIPTION

The concept of this design revolves around, japanese playing cards. They have been redesigned and westernised to help people under-stand the game more. They illustrations are inspired by japanese sum-e wash painting, incorporating the far eastern element of them.

The card game design was chosen so people can relax and enjoy a game while drinking beer. Or play drinking games with them.

DESCRIPTION

Using the symbols from the cards, a wrap design for the beer bottle was created. Inspired by japanese sake bottle wraps. The typeface for tiger was changed to give it a more far eastern look. Although under the wrapping the same original beer bottle packaging has been used for recognition. Each wrap has a different pattern according to each of the suits (months) in the card game.

CONCEPT

Create an identity which reinforces the homemade aspect of ‘sweets in every fold’, but also looks contemporary.

DESCRIPTION

The logo type ‘sweets’ has been drawn in a needle point style type, holding onto its old fashioned values of home made sweets, also The shape of the logo has been made into a house to show this as well. Stationary for the sweet shop was made, creating the identity. Since the logo holds the old fashioned values which are trying to be shown, the stationary has been made really simple, too look more modern and contemporary.

CONCEPT

Create an identity which reinforces the homemade aspect of ‘sweets in every fold’, but also looks contemporary.

DESCRIPTION

3 different packaging designs Have been created. Keeping the iden-tity simple has allowed the design elements to work across a range of packaging shapes and sizes. 1 for boiled sweets - plastic bag container with a wrap around resembling a house shape. 1 for compote - jar designs,and another for vanity puffs. Simple box with a wrap around element. Each packaging design uses different colours to represent the flavours, with one colour running throughout to hold them all together as a set (same colour used on stationary)
