Hey There! My name is Brittany, and I am an aspiring Graphic & Interactive designer from a small town in central Pennsylvania. As a proud graduate of Millersville University of Pennsylvania, I have a skill set that spans print, web, and interactive design. I have been passionate about design since the ninth grade, when I was introduced to Graphic Design at Milton Hershey School.

When I get behind my computer screen, coding takes me to a paradise of brackets and semi colons that I could just get immerse myself in for days. Along with web design, I find joy in designing for print as well as logo sequence.

The RulesHow to Be a Lady is my self-authorship piece based on the stereotypical social criteria for what it means to be a lady. The piece began as giving rules and tips for how to go about acting like a lady. As my research developed, I found that the rules being provided were too ridiculous for my taste. At this point, I chose to develop the project into a self em-powerment piece. Women should be however they would like to be. Life is not about wearing the cutest clothes, or praising your man.

With Marilyn Monroe as the focus of the imagery, she por-trays what it meant to be a feminine idol during her time. However, this is the 21st century, women need to be true to themselves and not transform for a man or the societal views of feminine.

CPC RidersCPC Riders is a motorcyclist ministry of the Carnegie Presbyterian Church. They go on motorcycle rides to raise money for charity as well as for their own leisure.

The goal of this webpage was to redesign the website that the CPC Riders is currently using.

Through a content audit and personas, I found that the main audience was older church members between the ages of 35 and 55. At this age, they are familiar with technology but not fantastic at it. To make it easier, I kept the layout clean and clear. The nagivation was simplified to assist these viewers as well.

While reviewing the original site, the motorcycle ministry showed a lot of interest in taking photos at events. I made the photo page heavy in imagery for their easy viewing.

Tony’s Dream AdventureAs a team, we had created an educational game for children ages 4 through 6. The mis-sion of our game was to teach the alphasbet to children while they take Tony and his little backpack to collect all of the letters of the alphabet while avoiding scary obstacles like bees and ants.

After we worked as a team to establish the concept and feel of the game, we broke our responsiblities up by pieces of the project. My responsibilities were to build a webpage mockup for the game. I chose to do a one page web design with a large amount of illustration to emphasis the playfulness of the game. The concept was to emphasis the playfullness of Tony and portray his love for learning.

Help Your EnvironmentOur environment has always been a concern of mine, so I felt what could be more appropriate than a series of Environmental Posters. The series goes through ways you can help your environment throughout the day. Whether you are at work, at home, or at play, you can be helping the environment. Home tips go through electricity and water saving advice, while play goes about how you can improve the environment by reusing your sports water bottle.

Chinchillie’s

What is a

Chinchillie’s

Chinchilla?A chinchilla is a type of rodent native to the Andes mountains of South America. There are two species of chinchilla, Chinchilla chinchilla and Chinchilla lanigera. They are related to the porcupine and guinea pig. These animals are often kept as pets or farmed and hunted for their prized fur.

Chinchillas have rounded ears, bushy tails and thick, soft fur. Their fur ranges from bluish gray to white, silver, beige or black. The body length is about 10 to 14 inches (25 to 35 centimeters) while the tail is another 5 to 6 inches (12 to 15 cm). They generally weigh 2 to 3 pounds (0.9 to 1.3 kilograms)

Chinchillas are crepuscular, meaning they are very active at dawn or dusk. They eat and drink in small amounts sticking to desert grasses and shrubs. They live in social groups and nest in burrows or rock crevices.

Chinchillie’s Ice CreamThe Lancaster Zoo123 Zoo LaneLancaster PA 17601

Did you know?Chinchillas are nocturnal creatures who are mostly awake at night. They are typically asleep during the day.

Chinchillie’s

Inspired by my late chinchilla Mr. Spiderman, I chose this beautiful creature as my logo. Stemming from the word Chinchilla, I then brainstormed several different store/brand names that would work off of the word. After several options, I landed on Chinchillie’s. With this brand name in mind, I kept relating the word Chinchillie’s with the adjective chilly. What else do we enjoy chilly more than ice cream? The concept then grew into being a fictional ice cream shop located within the Lancaster County zoo. With the stand being placed near the chinchilla section of the zoo, the branding also provided educational content on the history of our mascot, Mr. Chinny. My final product is a fictional ice cream stand/shop in the Lancaster Zoo, that educates on chinchillas and is located near the chinchilla wing of the zoo. The business cards and envelope emphasis the learning aspect of the zoo by including tidbits on what a chinchilla is and knowledge about the chinchillas.

Lyric Sequence

“Til my last day, til my last breathe,of everyone that can, I can love you the best.

Til my last day, I’ll be lovin you.All the way up, til they lay me down, six feet under the cold hard ground.

Til my last day, I’ll be lovin you.”-Justin Moore

Stemming from the idea of kinetic typography, the con-cept of this piece was to use foreshadowing with a phrase that is meaningful to me. Using Justin Moore’s “Til My Last Day” I used Adobe After Effects to create a lyric sequence animation. To emphasis foreshadowing, the words consistently come in at a similar location on the piece. This method, when viewing up tempo lyrics, enables the type to still be legible. The background of a married country couple worked well with the lyrics because the song is a wholesome country song about being in love. Photo Credit: Juliana Evans Photography

This sequence emphasizes what Barbie is really meant to provide

for the girls that play with them.

Logo Sequence

The concept for this piece was to use an existing brand logo and make an endcap animation for the logo. My company was Barbie by Mattel. As opposed to sticking with the typical pinks that we think of with Barbie, I chose to go with the fairy line that Barbie has out. The line has a wider variety of color and dolls.

I chose the words friends, fun, fantasy because often times you will hear about the controversy of Barbie’s measurements, and in the end, the dolls are just made for children to play. When playing they can play with friends, have fun, and create their own fantasy.
