SENIOR LEAD UX & UI DESIGNER BlueRunner Solutions - London

2014 - Present

My role at BlueRunner Solutions is to design online web apps, mobile apps and online systems. I often attend meetings with the stakeholders to identify their requirements. From wire-framing to visual interface designing and testing, my position at BlueRunner covers the whole UX process. In 2016 I have worked with Compass Group UK & Ireland in designing 58 tenders. This included creating bespoke design, product re-skinning, live demo development and interactive presentation content for tablets and final presentations. In addition to all this, I also mentor and train the company’s junior designer.

UX/GUI DESIGNER Freelancer - Italy - UK

1998 - 2014

I started as a Graphic Designer in 1998 working for some of the major advertising companies in Milan, such as Lowe Pirella, where I produced adverts for National Geographic. As the use of websites grew more prominent, my interest for internet technologies grew stronger and I started to also take on work as a freelance web designer in the Turin area before moving to London in 2012.

Project Name RESOURCE MANAGEMENT APP

Description: Mobile and web app for the management of resource requests.

End User: Employees and contractors of OEE Consulting.

Main Features: An app that thanks to an easy user interface allows the users to access their request forms through just one click.

My Role: I liaised directly with one of the company directors during 2 meetings to define the core function and the requirements. This allowed me to come up with a solution to the client’s need: to reduce the use of complicated excel spreadsheets every time an employee or a contractor needs to send an expense form or request document printings or book meetings. I designed the UX and GUI for a mobile and web app that can be accessed from any device. This gives the user access to their request through streamlined and intuitive forms that are sent in real time to the relevant department. The app was also presented through a live mock-up. I also coded part of the app BETA build.

06. UX/UI Tablet App DesignProject Name PATIENTS’ EXPERIENCE APP

My Role: My role in this project as UX AND GUI Designer at BlueRunner Solutions was to define the client’s requirements and scope out the feasibility of the app at first stage. The required core function of the app was to make the patients’ experience as easy as possible. My proposed UX and GUI took into consideration the fact that many users might be elderly patients, so my first focus was on designing an easy structure, big buttons where possible and reduce the clicks of the food ordering experience to no more than 3 clicks.

Whereas the structure of the database is highly complicated and requires integration with the client’s internal system, the user interface offers access to single views and detailed MI dashboard by no more than 3 clicks. Project Name E-VOUCHER FRONT END RE-DESIGN

End User: BlueRunner Solutions customers and clients

Main Features: Drive incremental sales and maximise alternative revenue streams with our e-voucher and gift card platform that allows customers to buy and redeem cash value vouchers or service packages online and in store.

My Role: As BlueRunner Solutions Senior UX and GUI Designer, part of my role also requires to re-design the structure and interface of the company’s core systems. For the E-Voucher and Gift Card front end system I created a structure that is more similar to the freshest e-commerce trends so that the final user can complete the purchase of a voucher in 2 clicks. I applied the new brand guidelines, created a new logo for the system and built a colour scheme that makes navigation easily identifiable. The new structure is not only user centred but it also behaves greatly in a mobile environment.

Project Name ROOM BOOKING SYSTEM RE-DESIGN

Description: Front end and back end of Room Booking System redesign

End User: BlueRunner Solutions customers and clients

Main Features: Reduce administration and operational costs with our end-to-end, modular booking system that manages from booking to invoice for internal and commercial conferencing and events, hospitality, meeting room and additional services bookings.

My Role: As BlueRunner Solutions Senior UX and UI Designer, part of my role also requires to re-design the structure and interface of the company’s core systems. This was the most challenging re-design I did for BRS as the system is highly complex and has hundreds of different functionalities and combinations. The key here was to move the dashboard menu on the left hand-side to recreate the comfort of most of the CMS dashboards our clients are used to. The colour scheme was reduced to vivid lime/green for confirmation actions/buttons, dark blue for information and orange for alerts.

Client BLUERUNNER SOLUTIONS

Deployment The proposed UX and GUI have been deployed across some of the existing client’s systems such as Cambridge University. All existing systems are currently being implemented with the new layout and designs.

Project Name BLUERUNNER SOLUTIONS RE-BRANDING

Description: New website showcasing BlueRunner Solutions services

End User: Any BRS potential customer

Main Features: Display services, products, portfolio, etc.

My Role: As part of the re-branding process that was actioned at BlueRunner Solutions during the last year, re-designing their website UX and GUI was one of the core activities. We wanted to give the company a fresh, less corporate-looking feel that spoke two words: technology and food (due to the nature of the company working mainly - but not exclusively - with catering companies). So I started making use of a bold baby blue and impressive food and tech images and objects. I built the website using Abode Creative Suite, HTML and CSS. I also took the photos of each team member for the Our Team section with my personal photography equipment.

My Role: As part of the re-branding process that was actioned at BlueRunner Solutions during the last year, re-designing and refreshing their logo, colour schemes and collateral was one of the core activities. 01 REBEL REBEL Founder/Author - Online music magazine

Rebel Rebel is an online music and entertainment publication that I founded in October 2013. I have already interviewed and/or reviewed several artists from the scene of rock, pop, jazz and soul. In the first 12 months from its online launch, Rebel Rebel scored over 900,000 visits and thousands of Facebook and Twitter followers.

The magazine includes interviews, live reviews, music reviews, live photography and album/show previews. Some of my favourite interviews have included; Gregory Porter, Jocelyn Brown, Skunk Anansie, Steve Morse, Porcupine Tree and Jonathan Barnbrook (David Bowie’s album designer).

Rebel Rebel is the result of years of passion for music and the experience I have gained during my years as collaborator of Michael Jackson’s staff MJJ Productions. I regularly liaise with large music management companies and recording labels in order to be kept up to date with current music trends and news.

02 HER VOICE Producer - Video web series

HerVoice is a video web series that focuses on female talents through video interviews with musicians, singers, actresses, comedians, film makers, writers, artists, dancers and all those women who work in an industry that – like many others – sees an embarrassing gap between the opportunities that are given to men and women.

HerVoice was created and is written and directed by myself. This includes arranging the filming, sourcing locations, production, video/audio editing, script writing and undertaking the interviews themselves. This showcases my ability to work across different forms of media.

03 RETAIL MANAGEMENT Dixons Retail - Italy & UK

I worked in the technology retail sector for six years, two years as sales assistant and team leader and six years as Deputy and Store Manager. I specialised in the management of complex multi-layered projects and their staffs at many levels. My experience included the management of stores with up to £9 million annual turnover. My know-how applied to: strategic forward-planning; operating within the tight financial disciplines imposed by ambitious budgets which I have helped to plan; methodical administration to deadlines; application of modern leadership methods (through staff motivation and involvement in both decision-making and target-setting, clarity in communication, and easy personal inter-relations).

This role helped to better understand the specific needs when liaising with clients. This includes the importance of user friendly technology to reduce pressure on the front-line. I have also had vast experience managing people and feel I am more than capable of motivating staff to achieve excellent standards on a regular basis. I regularly worked within a variety of budgets and excelled in every aspect on this role, leading to regular bonuses.

04 PHOTOGRAPHY Self-taught Freelancer

I am an avid photographer and use this skill on a daily basis in my professional life. This includes providing content and visual imagery for my private clients as well as my current employer. This includes pre and post production. I am a competent user of Adobe Photoshop which I use regularly to retouch images, to produce photo compositions that have a strong visual impact in line with the client’s needs, as well as according to their branding guidelines.

My photos can be seen embedded in several of my professional websites (attributed to myself). My personal photos are collaged on 500 px and can be accessed at:
