Formative and Summative Assessments● Formative and summative assessment scores will be viewable

○ Formative assessments: These are assignments used for practice as students learn new content. Teachers use formative assessments to guide instruction. (Examples: exit tickets, homework, discussions, etc.)■ These are not included into calculations for final report card

grades

○ Summative assessments: These are assessments at the end of units to determine students’ understanding of concepts and skill attainment. (Examples: tests, final projects, etc.)

expanded to show assignments that assess that standard

● Only summative scores affect overall score, not formatives

● Overall scores can change throughout trimester (can get higher or lower)
