HEALTH
a systems approach to healthy eating
Have you ever wondered, how well you are eating? How do you know
if brocolli is better than sprouts for you?
We are constantly eating all kinds of food. From salad during lunch
to a delicious hamburger in the eveing. Nevertheless we forget about
our bodies and more importantly the recomended intakes to keep a
healthy body. When we look at nutrional facts, there are few reasons to
be confused, one is they create confusion to how much we are ought to
eat and two, what foods are recommended for the user.
Spec is a system that creates healthy eating with an easy undertanding
of food items. Users are able to search food items based on their pref-
erences to maintain a healthy nutrition. Every user can register to get
connected with a certified dietitian, the dietitians will keep in contact
with the user at all times, providing support and tips to the user.

SUSTAINABILITY
prototyping the future of coffee waste
Coffee has extended all around the world and it is known to be the
second most consumed drink after water. Similarly coffee shops have
largely extended over the years in Toronto and have provided custom-
ers a variety of flavors. Nevertheless, there is a huge and negative im-
pact from this massive growth of the coffee industry and that is the
amount of coffee ground waste left behind.
Common Ground aims to provide an innovative system solution to
transform coffee ground waste into new inspirational product appli-
cations. Common Ground focuses on looking at different stakeholders
that are able to provide solutions to other businesses, and leverage the
social enterprise of community need.
During the research process, Common Ground found that there is a
great feasability to introduce this new application in the flooring indus-
try that is worth $4.3 Billion in Canada.

improving student experience throught banking
Students typically face uncertainties and fears towards their career goals.
Most likely their questions never get answered and their disadvantage is to
continue with their questionable studies. This problem not only faces social
barriers but doubts on their future goal.
RBC Connect is a mentorship program that leverages social networks to
make a difference in the community. It aims to connect industry profession-
als with university students who feel unsure about their potential future.
Personal responsibility for high performance and Working together to
succeed are some of RBC Royal Banks core values and this program takes
the matter in hand by playing a direct role in the community for a more
successful, connected youth.

SOCIAL CHANGE
a possible solution for malnutrition in refugee camps
Dadaab is the largest and most populated refugee camp in the world and
it has the highest rate for malnutrition according to UNHCR statistics. There
are about half a million refugees in Dadaab that are not getting the proper
calories, vitamins and protein nutrient required to survive. A refugee family
consisted of four individuals consume 2,200 calories per week, sometimes
per month, in comparison a person in the UK consumes 2,200 calories per
day.
Locust Farm aims to provide families with a food kit that will help them
grow insects as food. Two-thirds of the world already consume insects as
part of their nutritional diet , and in addition, insects have been proven to
provide enough proteins, minerals and vitamins for the human being to sur-
vive. In 2013, The Food and Agriculture Organization released a document
that said ,insects are not only nutritious, but better for the environment
than other protein source that in the long run can generate jobs.

AROMA
SUSTAINABILITY
a sensory experience of air fresheners
A study by the National Resource Defence Council, documented that air
fresheners sold in todays market can cause developmental and repro-
ductive problems, especially for infants. Also, it highlighted that most
air fresheners consist of petrochemicals, and toxic ingredients that are
linked with abnormally- developed male genitalia, asthma, cancer, al-
lergies and many more. Nevertheless, most air fresheners are designed
to provide automatic functions to deliver a specific fragrance, which
disintegrates the interactivity between the user and the product.
Aroma is designed to behave accordingly to the users input of interac-
tivity by touch, movement and smell experience. Its composed of nat-
ural scented oils cartridges that are harmless to the user and which can
be changed according to the users taste; from lime to pine, citronella,
cilantro and more. Aroma aims to disrupt the automatic functions by
bringing the user to a seamless experience that is interactive through
touch and smell.

TERRITORIES OF
EXPLORATIONTerritories of Exploration is a section directly related to understandthe use of material and form. By understanding the material, I was ableto understand the behaviours, the dos and donts and most importantlythe future applications. With this in mind, there is no need to find the
form, rather then form finds the maker.
There are infinite ways to produce an object, to make it look aestheti-
cally pleasing and functionable. Nevertheless, to achieve that, one must
explore, prototype, sweat and go as far as it can to do so. Thus, not only
creating an object but a statement, a direct message that conveys all
the possible information.
