    Crispin was a porcupine with sharpquills that covered his entire body.He had a pink nose and big browneyes, but you could hardly see hiseyes as his body was brown too.

    One day it rained longand hard. Crispinsfamily stayed in theirlittle tunnel. The raindidnt stop falling.Crispin watched thebig, round drops ofwater come down on

    the soft, mossy ground.Were going to haveto find a new home,Crispins father said.And so once the rainhad stopped, the littleporcupine family made their waythrough the forest in search of aplace to make their new home.

    They came to a new part of theforest. It was beautiful there.Crispin saw families of squirrels,rabbits, birds, and other animals

    running around.

    Pontudinho era um porco-espinho, e, claro, seu corpo era coberto deespinhos. Seu nariz era cor-de-rosa eseus olhos castanhos, mas mal se podiver seus olhos porque seu corpinhotambm era todo marrom.

    Certo dia choveutorrencialmente. Afamlia de Pontudinhoficou dentro do seutunelzinho. A chuva noparava de cair. Pontudinhoobservava os grandes

    pingos dgua redondosque caiam no solo macio emusgoso.

    Vamos ter queencontrar uma nova casa

    disse o pai de Pontudinho. Quando

    a chuva finalmente parou, a famlia deporcosespinhos entrou pela floresta procura de um lugar para seu novo lar

    Chegaram a uma nova parte da florestque era muito encantadora. Pontudinhviu famlias de esquilos, coelhos,

    pssaros e outros animais correndo potoda a parte.

    One day, Crispin was lookingbehind some rocks when a rabbitcame up to him.

    Hello. Whats your name? the

    rabbit asked. Crispin hadnt seen

    the rabbit approach, and wasstartled.

    Oh, you scared me, he said

    shyly. My name is Crispin, I just

    moved to this part of the forest.

    Whats your name?

    Gray. My parents call me that

    because of the color of my coat,see? He turned around, and

    showed Crispin his dark graybody.

    Ol! Como voc se chama?

    perguntou o coelho. Pontudinho noviu o coelho se aproximar e seassustou.

    Puxa, que susto!disse eletimidamente.Meu nome Pontudinho, acabo de me mudar

    para esta parte da floresta. E como o seu nome?

    Cinzento. Meus pais me chamamassim por causa da cor do meucasaco, t vendo?Ele se virou emostrou seu corpo de pelo cinza

    escuro.

    This is Crispin, Gray said, as

    he introduced him to a group ofanimals. And these are my

    friends, Jed and Milo, Gray said,

    pointing to a nearby squirrel androbin. And this is one of my

    sisters, Corrie.

    As time went on it seemed thatCrispin didnt really fit in.

    Sometimes the other animalswould tease him about his sharp

    quills. They would say that hecouldnt play with them because

    he might hurt them with his quills.

    Crispin was very sad, because hewanted to be friends with theother animals.

    Pontudinho ficou muito triste porquequeria fazer amizade com os outrosanimais.

    One day, the animals went to adifferent part of the forest, and therethey played. They all had so muchfun that they forgot what time itwas. Soon the sun was setting whenCorrie realized that it was gettinglate.

    We stayed out too long! Our

    parents are going to be worried,

    Corrie said, as she looked aroundthe darkening forest.

    They all started on their way home,no one saying much. As they weregetting nearer to their homes Miltonsaid, My mother told me that big

    animals come out at night.

    Ssssh! I heard something! Jed

    said. They looked where Jed waspointing and saw a big gray wolf,standing nearby.

    The little creatures began running asfast as they could, but the wolf wasmuch faster.He startedgaining onthem.

    Certo dia, os animais foram a umlugar diferente da floresta e lbrincaram. Todos se divertiramtanto que se esqueceram da hora.Logo o Sol ia se pr quandoPelcia se deu conta de que estava

    ficando tarde.

    Ficamos fora muito tempo!Nossos pais devem estarpreocupadosafirmou Pelciaolhando ao redor para a florestaque escurecia.

    O grupo comeou a ir para casa;ningum falava muito. Ao seaproximarem de casa, Milton disse:

    Minha me me disse que noiteos animais grandes acordam.

    Psiu! Ouvi algo!disse Janjo.Eles olharam na direo em queJanjo apontava e l estava umgrande lobo cinza.

    Os bichinhos corriam o mais rpidoque podiam,mas o lobo

    era bemmais veloz.Elecomeou aseaproximardeles.

    Suddenly distracted, the wolfstopped chasing the two rabbitsand the squirrel. Crispin hadstepped onto the path.

    Quick! Run! Crispin called out

    to them.

    But what about you, Crispin?

    Corrie cried.

    Just go! Crispin told her.

    Corrie and all the other animalsran off to hide as fast as theycould in any nearby bushor burrow.

    Crispin got up and walked awayfrom the oak tree. The wolf

    followed, wondering what thisstrange animal was. Then thewolf bent down and sniffedCrispins back a little too closely.

    He yelped as a few ofCrispins sharp quillsgot stuck on his face.

    Then he ran off, stillyelping.

    De repente, o lobo se distraiu e paroude perseguir os dois coelhos e o quati.Pontudinho se interps entre eles.

    Rpido! Corram!dissePontudinho.

    Mas e voc?perguntou Pelcia.

    V, no se preocupe!Pontudinho disse.

    Pelcia e todos os outros animaiscorreram para se esconder o maisrpido possvel numa moita ouarbusto ali perto.

    Pontudinho andou para longe docarvalho. O lobo seguiu, se

    perguntando o que seria aqueleestranho animal. Ento o lobo seabaixou e cheirou ascostas de Pontudinhoum pouco pertodemais. Ele uivouquando alguns dos

    espinhos pontudos dobichinho se prenderam sua face. Entofugiu, ainda uivando.

    Its okay, everyone. You can

    come out! The wolf is gone.

    Crispin called.

    You saved us, Crispin! Corrie

    said joyfully. All the animalscheered for Crispin.

    Im really sorry for teasing you,

    Crispin, Jed said, looking down

    at the ground.

    We all are, Gray said, and the

    others nodded in agreement.Its okay. I forgive you,

    Crispin said.

    And from that day forward, theywere all best of friends.

    Pronto, pessoal! Podem sair! O lobose foi!chamou Pontudinho.
