HISTORY

• First discovered in 1835 by French chemist, Henri Victor Regnault

• Then in 1872 by German chemist, Eugen Baumann

• PVC is a polymer which is made from monomers called vinyl chloride.

• It is formed by the kind of polymerisation called “Addition”

• Its IUPAC name is called poly(1-chloroethene)

• Extrusion• The shaft (which is

called "Screw") in the cylinder is rotated to push resin forward

• Resin is melt by heat and kneaded

• While it is pushed forward, and then extruded from the outlet dies.
