Actual political Financing

Direct public funding for political parties and individual candidates will co-finance expenses made during the oficial electoral campaign phase.

Private donations: concentrated during the campaign phases majority of contributions from enterprises and citizens goes directly to candidates Majority of contributions are “reserved”, without revealing identity of donors neither to citizens nor to the parties or candidates financed

Electoral Finance in Chile:

Dont focus the discussion only on campaigns finance. We must talk about political financing

Invest in democracy never be too expensive.

Our proposals.

1) Strengthening the Electoral Service, in atributions and resources

(match accounting to reality)

2) Mandatory transparency standards for political parties as if they were public institutions

3) Public funding for political activity in general , limiting private contributions to individuals with a reasonable ceiling donation. All this with the highest standards of transparency and banning anonymous or reserved donations.

4) High and new penalties and sanctions to candidates and donors who play against the law.

5) Amendments to the law on political parties , especially in matters of constitution, dissolution and internal democracy
