FRAGMENTA FAUNISTICA is a specialist journal published by the M useum and Institute of Zoology of the Polish Academ y of Sciences. The journal, first published in 1930, appeared under the title Fragm enta Faunistica M usei Zoologici Polonici until 1953. N ow the journal is issued sem i-annually and publishes the papers devoted to fauna, its differentiation, distribution and transform ations. These are the results of original studies, review articles and syntheses dealing w ith faunology and related sciences such as zoogeography or zoocoenology.By way of exchange, FRAGMENTA FAUNISTICA is distributed am ong over 350 institutions in 80 countries. INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Only papers w ritten in English (preferred language), G erm an or French are published in FRAGMENTA FAUNISTICA. A paper subm itted to the FRAGMENTA FAUNISTICA m u st no t have been offered, previously or sim ultaneously to any o ther scientific m agazine. Although the au th o r bears responsibility for the m erits of the paper, the editors reserve the right to suggest a lte ra tions and abridgem ents. Papers should be concise and linguistically correct. C ontribu tions should be subm itted in two copies, complete with the text, tab les and figures. The relevant letter from Author(s) accom panying the m an u scrip t is required, where the author(s) address(es) for correspondence is placed, w ith the original and officially accepted nam e of institution(s), num ber of fax, phone or e-mail address .Subm itted papers will be accepted for publication after positive reviews have been obtained, m ainly from the m em bers of the Fragm enta faunistica Advisory Board. The final version of the work, after the verification m ade by reviewers’ and ed itor’s advice, should be subm itted as a p rin tou t and on a com puter disk (MS-DOS/Windows), and m u st conform to the requirem ents below.Title of work should be concise and proper to its contents. Abstract sho u ld n ’t be longer th an 200 words. Key words m u st be in num ber 3 to 7. Text should have a s tan d a rd layout (introduction, m aterial and m ethods, resu lts , sum m ary, references). All Latin nam es m ust be italicised. The nam es of au th o rs m u st be added to all species (genus) nam es first appearing in the text. Tables should be as sim ple as possible, prin ted on separa te pages with captions and num bered with Roman num erals. Figures, identified with Arabic num erals, can be com puter p rin tou ts (B&W, good quality) or m ade by hand in black ink on tracing paper or white cardboard, with all captions prin ted on a separa te page. Num erical d a ta should be a ttached to plots. R eferences should conform to the form at used in published issues of FRAGMENTA FAUNISTICA. Sum m aries of papers will be published in Polish.Printing costs are covered by the au thor. Inform ation abou t the cost is available from the Editorial Board. The au th o r (first, person listed) will receive 25 copies free of charge.
