    The more radical theperson is,

the more fully he or she

    enters into reality so

    that,knowing it better, he or

    she can transform it.

    This individual is not

    afraid to confront, to

    listen, to see the worldunveiled.

    This person is not afraid

to meet the people or to

    enter into a dialogue

    with them.

    This person does not

    consider himself or

    herself the proprietor of

    history or of all people,

    or the liberator of the

    oppressed

    but he or she does

    commit himself or

    herself, within history, to

    fight at their side...

    Cities Prisons...

What can we do when our cities become

    prisons..?

When our mentalities are moulded by

    consumption, property, profit, xenophobia and

alienation from the natural environment and

    ourselves?

When cameras and cops are a constant

    companion in the streets?

When as little kids we learn to live in fear

    and to be supressed?

When we try to fill our real needs with material goods?

When we exchange our real friends with efriends, our real pets with e

pets and our real life with elife?

When we cant act outside the standardized behaviours created by

commercials? When free, outdoors, team games essential for our social and emotional

    development are rare?

When we have become lonely, competitive beings?

When a person means merely a consumer?

When we cant conceive sharing without financial exchanges, or any kind

    of exchange?

When it has become an imperative need to assign experts to understand,

    process and realize our desires?

When we are limited in our own, individualistic cages, where we are

consuming and being consumed? When our lives are characterized by this imperceptible feeling that we

have to be on time, that we have to be on top?

When we become wage slaves in order to acquire more

and more but in substance getting back nothing?

When our imagination struggles somewhere between schools, lecture

theatres, universities, classes, libraries, desks, offices, wage labour?

When we keep postponing our life for later? when it seems that we live

more in our agendas and plans than in the moment?

When we spend our minimum freetime in impersonal malls, shopping and

with fake smiles? There is nothing left to do but to destroy these cityprisons.

To meet... to get together in the streets, parks, and squares... to discuss

and get to know each other... to act... to selforganize, to selfeducate

    and to stay in solidarity...

to experience the liveliness of collective creativity and action... to break

the artificial separations, the sociallyconstructed identities and the

    unbearable flow of normality...

to experiment with our only goal to experience the beauty of all the

things we can achieve in the present, acting collectively... to refuse and

to resist all the institutions that maneuver our social and personal wants, our dreams and lives.

To live in anarchy, peace and solitude...

The Edinburgh University Anarchist Society was formed some

years ago as an attempt for students who wanted a forum for the

fermetation of radical ideas. Since then a lot of people with

different ideologies and points of view have contributed with theiractions to this attempt, the society itself as every "living" social

group evolved and took a lot of different "shapes" through the

years being affected from the people that were forming it, but in

all the cases there was the common believe for a world based in

social equality and freedom, for an anarchist society that will createthe proper structures needed to form social relationships based on

solidarity, mutual respect and mutual aid with no oppressors nor

authoritarians. In the present time the Society based on the

anarchist values mentioned above tries to find all the possible ways

and actions that will contribute in the social change. We don't havethe answers but we are searching for them through our constant

questioning of any antisocial structure they try to make us follow ,

we meet each other and form all these actions that will bring us

closer to a fair and free society. Feel free to meet us and

interact in any of our actions... Our meetings take placeevery Wednesday at 15:00 in Room 2.06 Appleton Tower
