Who/What are our Guides? What forms do they take?

 Angels

 Animal Messengers (mythic,

real)

 Spirit Guides

 Goddesses and Gods

 Ascended Masters

 Saints

 Muses

 Daimon—Sophia is my teacher.

“The Awakened One” by Denis Gaston, which I purchased long

before any awareness of Sophia, evokes her presence for me

 Fairies

Ancestors and loved ones who have passed (your heavenly team)

Masters & Teachers of the Akashic Record

How can you increase access to your Guides and their Guidance?

Build a deep and abiding relationship

Don’t just show up in need. Show up every day. Include your Guides in your everyday life.

Talk to them by name. Include them in your daily spiritual practices and prayers.

Turn to them often. Make it clear that you rely on them.

Create your spiritual organization in the sky and hold regular meetings. (a topic on the 6th loop

of Find Your Soul’s Purpose and a topic in Part 2 of Plug In for Writers)

Keep something that reminds you of your Guides. Place a totem on your altar, a picture on the

wall, a coin in your pocket…something that speaks to you.

If you’re not sure, ask your Guides to point you toward your totem or symbol.

Constantly thank your Guides for their assistance. Stay in a state of joyful gratitude.

How to ask for help

1. Set your intention or sacred desire to access your Guides

2. Take deep cleansing breaths to relax your body

3. Say a prayer or blessing to connect with them and ask for their guidance

4. Ask for help out loud, with emotion and total conviction that they are on the job

5. Listen and watch for their response

6. Acknowledge the response, say thank you

7. Ask for clarification or confirmation if you are uncertain, ask them to please make it clear that

the guidance came from them. Then recognize and acknowledge the clarification, say thank you,

be grateful

8. Follow up, take the guidance you receive and put it to use

9. Report back to them on what happened, say thank you again, ask for further guidance

10. Maintain an ongoing relationship; be open to see/feel/hear/experience guidance

Plug In for Writers Part 1 Session 2 35

How to gather Guidance at night

Ask your Guides and divine-team for assistance as you fall asleep

Keep a notepad and open ballpoint next to the bed

When you are awakened, jot down what you hear, say thank you

When you wake in the morning, lie very still and wait for additional guidance to come or fuller

memory of your dreams

When you get up, look at your night notes, say thank you, take them

into soul writing and begin to use what you receive, whether you

understand it fully or not

Information on Native American Spirit Guides from Charlotte/Agni Jaya Starfire

Charlotte was my first spiritual teacher in the early ‘90s. She introduced me to Native American and

Goddess traditions, animal messengers, the Medicine Wheel, and the chakras.

Charlotte apprenticed with Sun Bear and Oshanna—two famous Native

American teachers. Oshanna gave Charlotte her name, Starfire. Sun Bear gave

her a ceremonial pipe. Charlotte is also an initiate in the Sisterhood of the Violet

Flame, trained in the ancient traditional moon ceremony. (She conducted the

classic Moon Ceremony at Kashi Ashram at our retreat in 2015) Ma Jaya Sati

Bhagavati, founder of Kashi, gave Charlotte the spiritual name Agni Jaya (lord of

the fire and honored her an invitation to build a Ceremonial Medicine Wheel on

the Kashi grounds. Agni Jaya practices Kali Natha Yoga. Her day job is

international banking.

These are my notes from a conversation with Charlotte exclusively for Plug In.

My first experience was a conversation with Jesus at 11. I was in a 6-week class at a church and at the

end, told them I can’t join an organization that says “this is the only way.” When Jesus came I asked him

about not joining the church and he said, “You are here to help people understand that the second

coming is not me coming back, but each of you awakening to the Spirit within.”

My most comfortable and natural relationship with guides is through Native American symbology. The

Medicine Wheel book by Sun Bear has all the aspects of Native American spirituality: directions, stones,

crystals, Spirits, animals, plants, colors.

Eagle story: I lost expensive prescription purple sunglasses on a rafting trip. I visualized Eagle flying over

and finding them and bringing them back to me. Next day I called the park ranger’s office – nothing.

Following day I called again (because I knew Eagle found them). Ranger says there’s nothing in the lost

and found box, but let me go look at the log. When he came back on the phone, he said “That’s odd.

There is an entry in the log about purple glasses but it’s not signed. It said where to find them and I

found them and I’ll mail them to you tomorrow.”

I am in constant communication. I converse with my Guides all day every day. Eagle, White Buffalo

Woman, Sun Bear…. You can have this kind of relationship with a living person, too. My guru now is Ma

Jaya Sati Bhagavati, the founder of Kali Natha Yoga. I converse with her all the time spiritually and I

know that that communication is real because she’ll send an email out to the community a day later

with exactly what we “talked” about. (Note: Ma left the physical in 2012 and Agni Jaya continues to

receive guidance from her.)

Everything has a spiritual essence. Everything. It’s not the thing itself—rock, computer, feather, etc.—

but the infusion of love that you bring to it. That’s what awakens its potential.

We are all co-creators. It’s our role, our gift, and our responsibility. Open to the reality of the invisible

realm. The energies on the other side are so excited to communicate with us. But if we don’t seek them,

they have to remain invisible and silent.

How do you access your guides?

 Let your heart lead you

Set your intention to connect; intention sets the vibration in motion

Stay in that place of connection, stay in the vibration

 Be of service

 Be joyful

and spirits of the directions at the Medicine

Wheel at Kashi Interspiritual Ashram, April 2017.

Notice the ray of light!

Agni Jaya said no one was aware of it at the time,

the beam only appeared in the photograph.

Resources

This is a lovely list, but the primary resource is YOU and your guides. Books, cards, and people are

delightful and informative, but in the end your relationship with your guides is a unique relationship of

reciprocal love. It springs from the heart and is sustained by the heart. No book can teach you how to

have that relationship. Ask yourself what opens the pathway to the heart for you. Follow that vibration

of love. Trust it. Then, keep those vibratory channels open.
