The purpose of the assignment is to allow you to demonstrate your knowledge of

project management and team building by focussing on how you would lead a givenprojectYou should base your analysis on either a project that you have experienced or onethat have read about in class.

Your Task Directions for this assignment are as follows:

You are asked to prepare an evaluative management report on a project that you

 are personally familiar with or have read about in class.

1. Identify and define the project you have selected. Briefly outline the projectobjectives ,terms of reference and staffing that was available. (no more than 750words)..

2. Critically evaluate the leadership of the project with reference to the teambuilding, team leadership and project planning and management activities of the

team leader and to the achievement of project objectives. Identify how theseelements could have been improved in your case study (2750 words).

3. Conclude your analysis by providing recommendations on how the project couldhave been made more successful and what analytical, planning and team buildingtools and techniques could have been used by the project leader.(1500 words)

Your report needs to be set out in an acceptable business report form with a shortexecutive summary, conclusions and recommendations and clearly laid outsections. It should also reflect current theoretical/academic perspectives on projectleadership and team building. All materials must be properly referenced. The actualword count should be +/-10% of the indicated word count, excluding references andappendices. Word counts that are below andabove the +/- 10% of the indicated word count will be penalised. Comprehensive yetconcise assignments are necessary for good credit points. Originality, quality ofargument and goodstructure are required. What I want to see is that you can take a body of theory,understand it, choose what you want from it, apply it in a reasonable fashion andhence evaluate it.

Guidelines

Your submissions will be expected to demonstrate the following qualities:

1. Answering the central focus of the assignment topics.2. A critical appreciation and application of relevant literature and theories tosupport argument substantiate model(s) and other aspects of the assignment.

3. Taking ownership of the content, being prepared to debate and argue a personalposition, evidences evaluative skills. A submission made up of extracts frompublished sources which is descriptive and just theoretical, is not acceptable. Yoursubmission must have interpretation and consideration of the challenges and issuesof takingtheory into practice (using cases and/or personal experience).4. Ability to analyse relevant theoretical concepts in a critical manner, evaluation ofmaterial.5. Logical flow of ideas and treatment; imaginative approaches; appropriateselection of real world factors related to the model(s) or specific assignment topic.6. Evidence of additional personal research, and the ability to analyse material froma variety of appropriate relevant perspectives. A clear listing of references using theHarvard referencing method.7. Presentation, structure, appropriateness of methodology, breaking into section

headings/subheadings, tidiness.8. A strong conclusion.

Please ensure that you reference material which you take from text books,published documents, internet etc… in the main body of your report, at theplace you use it, as well as listing the publications in an appendix. Also, try toevaluate and critique this material and the experience you get from applyingand using it. The assignment should be written from a third-personperspective.
