Did you know? The cave is the world’s biggest replica of an otherwise inaccessible cave art site. The floor area covers 3000 m2, for a total of 8180 m2 scenic decor (floors, walls, ceiling). The original Chauvet Pont-d’Arc Cave has a floor area of 8500 m2. All visible elements have been reproduced to scale.

The replica took 30 months to build and is the result of cooperation between 35 indus-trial, construction, artistic and craft firms. Conceived by the architects Fabre-Speller (Clermont-Ferrand) in association with l’Atelier 3A (Le Teil, Ardèche), the replica is made of metal and concrete with a mortar covering. A large proportion of the reproduced geological or organic elements (calcareous concretions, panels, bones) are made of resin. See discovery point
