Principal’s Message
Pleasant Grove Elementary Gazette
February 2018 Welcome to February! It is hard to believe that we have passed the mid-point of the school year. Our second trimester comes to a close at the end of this month and along with the end of the tri-mester are lots of great activities. We will have minimum days for parent-teacher conferences March 6th -9th. Our teach-ers will be setting up conferences for any new students as well as some continuation conferences from the fall for some students. If you have a need for a conference, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher. On-going communication and a part-nership with your child’s teacher are contributing factors for your child’s success in the spring. GATE- If you are interest in your 4th-6th grade student taking the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT) for possible Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) identifica-tion, please email Mrs. Wood at [email protected]. There is limited testing for stu-dents in grades 4– 6 later this spring. Information about upcoming GATE parent meeting is forthcoming very soon. I wish a Happy Chinese New Year to you all, and hope it brings you good health, happiness, and prosperity. Deidra Wood

TIGER SPIRIT CORNER Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS)
The Pleasant Grove Elementary PBIS team is consisted of teachers, office staff, admin, yard supervisors, paraeducators, and parents. PBIS takes a prevention approach, values positive behavior support, and supports the success of ALL students. Currently our PBIS team and staff as a whole are working with students on emphasiz-
ing kindness and appreciating & celebrating the differences in all people while avoid-
ing mean, hateful and hurtful language. The PGES PBIS team is working in conjunc-
tion with the other elementary schools in the PG region to explicitly define the behavior
expectations as they relate to hateful and hurtful language and then outline consequenc-
es (first teaching, then consequences).
