Referring to the richheritage of Kannada culture,the Governor stressed the needto translate works in Kannadainto other national and foreignlanguages. He said there weremany epics in Kannada whichwere as good as Kalidasa’sworks and “it is worthwhileto spread this knowledgeacross the globe”, he added.
Dr. Mathoor Krishnamurtiwho has rendered these festivals,explained that there were14 main festivals of Indiafeatured in the DVD.They are: Guru NanakJayanthi, Mahaveer Jayanthi,Ganesha Chaturthi, Deepavali,Gita Jayanthi, KrishnaJanmashtami, Guru Poornimaand many more.

“There is a sea of changein the attitude of people in allwalks of life of the presentgeneration which is beingmore and more attractedto literature”, observedDr. G.M. Hegde at a functionat the Bhavan on March 28.
Dr Hegde who wasspeaking at a function torelease his book on “ManuBaligar : Jeevana Sadhane”said that this was especially sowith officers who occupied highpositions. This literary bent ofmind of such people auguredwell both for the people andthe administration, he observed.
Describing Sri Baligar,the subject his book as a poet,story-teller, dramatist, writer,columnist, yoga exponent andabove all a decent officer whocommanded respect fromcolleagues, family and thepeople at large, he explainedhow Manu Baligar had workedin different parts of the state indifferent capacities and earneda good name for thegovernment and himself.

The book was releasedby Smt. Shankaramma Baligar,mother of the Baligars.Sri.V.P. Baligar, IAS, PrincipalSecretary to Industry, Govt ofKarnataka and younger brotherSri. Manu Baligar read a poemhe had composed on his sibling.
Speaking on the occasion,Dr. Mathoor Krishnamurti,Executive Director of theBhavan pointed out that every
person gets an opportunity toserve society, once in his lifetime. Those who miss it mayrepent later in life. But Sri.Manu Baligar is an exception.He has not only seized theopportunity but has made gooduse of it both for himself andthe people, he added.
An emotion – filled ManuBaligar thanked all those whohad helped him in launchingthe book, a copy of which waspresented to all those presentat the function.
Earlier, Sri N. Ramanuja,Chairman, Bhavan Karnataka,welcomed the gathering andintroduced the chief guests tothe audience. Sri. H.N. Suresh,Director of Bhavan’sProgrammes and Projects whocompered the proceedingsproposed a vote of thanks.

Srinivasa Murthy Endowmentlecture for the Bhavan’s H.B.College of Communication andManagement on March 31.Ms Deepti said the days of mereinformation have changed to thedays of knowledge She stressedthe importance of the electronicmedia in the communicationtransference. Today a managerwithout the latest knowledge oftechnology development is of nouse to his company, she added.

Smt. Garudamma herself hadpassed away earlier in the monthof March. A two – minute silencewas observed before thecommencement of the meetingas a mark of respect to thedeceased.
It was also the valedictoryfunction of the college.Sri. A. Krishnamurthy, Secretaryof the Bhavan and Director, M.P.Birla Institute of Management,who delivered the valedictoryaddress, explained theimportance of communication.While appreciating the views ofMs Deepti Diwakar in thisregard, he hoped the nearly280 hours that the students hadspent in their 10 month coursewould be put to good use inmaking their future bright andprosperous. He appealed to themto continue their association withtheir alma mater wherever theyare in the future.
Earlier Prof. S.N. Subba Rao,Principal, welcomed the chiefguests and introduced them tothe audience. Prof. G. Kalavathiproposed a vote of thanks.

The family of Mr & MrsPadmanabhan have beencontributing regularly forvarious activities of theBhavan. When the Bhavan’sMysore Kendra was launchedthey not only presented twotall brass lamps for use in theinaugural functions, but alsodonated a significant amounttowards its building fund.
Their son, Chi. Velu hadcontributed his first salary tothe developmental work ofMysore Bhavan when the samewas inaugurated earlier.
Now, their daughter Kum.Abhirami has sent her firstsalary (Rs.14,000) to theBhavan’s Director Dr. MathoorKrishnamurti towards itseducation activities.
The Bhavan is thankful toMs. Abhirami for her kindgesture. Here alongside is herletter which may inspire others.
