01 ___ In after effects, first of all, create a new composition (cntl/cmd+N) and name it ‘Planet’.Set the width to 1854 px and Set the width to 1854 px and the height to 1224 px and frame rate to 25 frames per

02___ Import a texture of a planet (I chose venus) add drag it into you’re time line. Select the texture, go to layer and click on pre-compose.’Move all atributes and call it ‘Map’.PressPress Alt and double click on the comp to open your pre comp.

07___ Change the ‘Map white to” to anorange colour. Now change the trasnfer mode to screen. To make our lava more vibrant were going to go backto our project,duplicate ’map’ comp.and callis ‘lava’ . Open your new comp and duplicate your planet texture. Turn off the tint in one of them and change the TrkMatto luma Matte. luma Matte. Go back to your originalcomp and duplicate one of your maps, hold down alt and drag your lava comp onto it. Now we have lava as a own layer.

03___Go to effects, colour correction, Hue and saturation and lower both the saturation and the lightness to give it more of a planet look. 04___ Go to your effects panel,select cc sphere and drag it onto

youre layer. This should automatically turn your texture into a sphere.

05___ Duplicte your layer (cmd+c/cmd+v) and go to your light options and set the light direction to the exact opposite, that will give your planet a more realistic lighting. Change the mode of your layer to screen.

06___ In Photoshop (this can also be done in AE) take your planet texture and turn it into a fully con-trasted black and white image. Import it into AE and drag it into your ‘Map’ compisition. Got to effects/colour correction/curves and edit it so the image is dark enough.

08___ We want to link all ofour rotation values together. Bring up the cc sphere ‘rota-tion’ for eachof the effects.we want to linkthe y rotation. alt stopwatch and drag it onto ‘Lava’ rotation y.repeat steps for other layers. what this does is it links allrotations together.

Before animating, you can styalize your lava by going to effects, styalize, glow and playa-round with the setting till youve reached a glow your happy with.

09___ Now if we go back to the rotation of the sphere plugin, seta ket frame, move forward in time and rotate it a little bit.

10___ Import a space background 10___ Import a space background of your choice and add it as a background. Now youhave an ani-mated planetfloating in space. With all the steps youv taken, youcan go backand edit a few of the colour corrections and make it more vibrant or you continue making planets and create the whole solar system.
