MERCURY

• Diameter – 3032.3 Miles (0.38 times the size of Earth)• Distance from the Sun – 58 Million Kilometers (0.38 times the

distance of Earth to the Sun)• It takes 88 days to rotate around the moon.• It takes 58 days and 16 hours to spin around one time.• High Temperature - 427°C – Low Temperature - -170°C• Atmosphere is made up of Hydrogen, Helium, and Sodium .• Mercury has an extremely thin Atmosphere, is very Rocky, and heavily

cratered.

Venus

• Diameter – 12,104 km (.949 times the size of Earth)• Distance from the Sun – 108 Million kilometers (0.72 times the distance

of Earth to the Sun)• It takes Venus 225 Days to go around the sun.• It takes Venus 243 days to spin around.• High Temperature – 480°C – Low Temperature - -33°C• Atmosphere – Mainly Carbon Dioxide - CO₂• Venus has an extremely thick atmosphere which causes it to be really

hot because of the green house effect. Venus is considered Earth’s Twin because of its size.

EARTH

• Diameter – 12,756 km• Distance from the Sun – 150 million kilometers• It takes Earth 365 Days to go around the Sun• It takes the Earth 24 hours to spin around.• High Temperature - 58°C – Low Temperature - -90°C• Atmosphere – 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen• Earth is the only planet we know of that has life because of the liquid

water, atmosphere, temperatures.

MARS

• Diameter – 6794 km (.53 times the size of Earth)• Distance from the Sun – 228 million kilometers (1.52 times the

distance of Earth to the Sun)• It takes Mars 1.88 years in rotate around the Sun.• It takes Mars 24.5 hours to spin around.• High Temperature - -31°C – Low Temperature - -130°C• Atmosphere – Carbon Dioxide - CO₂ (thin)• Mars is considered the Rusty Planet, has polar ice caps, two moons

(Phobos and Deimos).

JUPITER

• Diameter – 142,700 (11.2 times the size of Earth)• Distance from the Sun – 778 million km (5.2 times the distance of the

Earth to the Sun)• It takes Jupiter 11.86 Years to rotate around the Sun• It takes Jupiter 10 hours to spin around• High Temperature – 29,700°C – Low Temperature - -95°C• Atmosphere – Hydrogen and Helium, some methane and ammonia.• Jupiter has a giant red spot, at least 16 moons, and is the largest planet.

Some say Jupiter could have been close to becoming a second sun.

SATURN

• Diameter – 120,000 km (9.5 times the size of Earth)• Distance from the Sun – 1427 million km (9.51 times the distance of

Earth to the Sun)• It takes Saturn 29.46 Years to rotate around the Sun• It takes Saturn 10.5 Hours to Spin around• High Temperature - ? – Low temperature - -180° C• Atmosphere – Hydrogen and Helium, with methane and ammonia.• Saturn is known for its visible rings, has atleast 23 moons, and Titan is

the only moon with significant atmosphere.

URANUS

• Diameter – 50,800 km (4.0 times the size of Earth)• Distance from the Sun – 2869 million kilometers (19.13 times the

distance of Earth to the Sun)• It takes Uranus 84.01 years to rotate around the Sun• It takes Uranus 16.8 hours to spin around• High Temperature - ? – Low Temperature - -220°C• Atmosphere – Hydrogen, Helium, and Methane• Uranus is the only planet that rotates on its side and has dark rings.

NEPTUNE

• Diameter – 48,600 km (3.8 times the size of Earth)• Distance from the Sun – 4486 million kilometers (29.91 times the

distance of Earth to the Sun)• It takes Neptune 164.8 years to go around the Sun• It takes Neptune 16 hours to spin around.• High Temperatures - ? – Low Temperatures - -220°C• Atmosphere – Hydrogen, Helium, and Methane• Neptune is surrounded by 8 moons that have a unusual rotation.
