Agri Business School has been the emerging and a premier Agri

Business Management Institute in Hyderabad, A.P." with "Food &

continuously keep abreast with the changes in the agri business

environment and train the students to adapt to them. PGDM (ABM)

is a unique Programme that is designed to provide an ideal learning

environment, practical interaction with industry and adequate field

exposure to enable the development of a breed of young,

enterprising Agri Business professionals to meet the needs of

growing industry. The students have been trained in various

focused areas of the agribusiness and marketing and are ready-to-

serve the agribusiness. Summer projects undertaken by the

students helped them to better appreciate the business

environment. The current batch of 2012-14, is a rich blend of diverse

streams from B.Tech in Food Tech, Agriculture Engg, B. Sc in

Agriculture, Agri Biotech and Biotech. We are happy to present the

"FLAME OF THE FOREST"The campus is located at a healthy and picturesque location called “Flame of Forest” which is

about 40km from Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. The location is known by its endemic presence of

beautiful “Flame of Forest” grooves. The institution is a part of an integrated campus designed in

sprawling 45 acres of land. Besides FABS, the integrated campus houses Sagar Global Business

School (SGBS) and Sagar Institute of Technology (SITECH). The Rajiv Gandhi International

CAMPUS

PEDAGOGY

Teaching methodology is a combination of

lecture and case method with high focus on self-

learning and practice.

Teachings of each subjects is carried out as per

detailed course plan designed in accordance

with the syllabus.

Each course comprises of case studies,

assignments, and presentations, working

exercises, quiz and group discussions on

current issues.

The evaluation is based on continuous internal

evaluation and end of term assessment.

Simulation, management games, role play and

other teaching techniques are used in the

classroom for greater effectiveness.

Students carry out their Summer Internship at

the end of the 1st year of the programme for 8

weeks during May to July.

Besides, the summer project, students are

required to take a number of mini projects, rural

market surveys and field visits throughout their

programme so that they are able to reinforce

their learning in the class room.

griculture sector in India has been witnessing very exciting and dramatic changes during the

recent years. The companies involved in food and Agri business are growing at a rapid pace and

also drawing up challenging plans for growth in the years ahead. Besides developing required Ainfrastructure and financial strengths to tap the available business growth opportunities, companies are

also strengthening their manpower needs by recruiting well-trained people. In view of this, Food and Agri

Business School (FABS) designed a well thought out 2 year postgraduate program in Agribusiness

Management that could groom potential young minds into good managers who could readily fit into the

corporate companies and deliver the results expected of them. FABS is a college of distinct

competencies. The learning environment created by FABS both on and off the campus helps the

students get a good right mix of academic knowledge coupled with practical industry-oriented managerial

experience. The postgraduate programme distributed over 6 trimesters provide ample opportunity for the

students to go through the carefully designed curriculum that would meet the agri-input, output and

agribusiness industry needs best. As such, the students at FABS are “trained to deliver” the best results

expected of them. FABS is a part of an integrated educational hub established by SVVR Educational

Society on the outskirts of Hyderabad in serene and peaceful lush green environs in 2008. The PGDM-

ABM course offered by FABS is a fully-residential program. The school aims at attracting talented

students and grooming them to be the future leaders of industry. The first batch of the students passed

out during summer 2011. All the students were campus recruited by prominent companies from Agri-

input, output and food business sectors. Besides offering the PGDM-ABM program, FABS also offers the

industry a range of other services including Market Research, Agri Business Consulting, Corporate

Training, and Capacity Building Services.

ABS is exploring networking and alliance partnership opportunities with both

national and international institutions. As a part of this strategy FABS has Falready signed MoU with National Institute of Agricultural Extension

Management (MANAGE), ANGRAU (AP State Agricultural University) to work

together in areas of Education Knowledge Creation and Training. FABS signed an

MOU with Alcorn State University, Mississippi State, USA to work closely and

collaborate in the areas of Food and Agri Business Management, General

Management and Advanced Technology systems, Teleconferences and joint

seminars, including semester-long study abroad as a part of exchange of students,

faculty exchanges and other collaborative teaching initiatives mutually agreeable to

both parties. As a part of this MOU, Five students have been sent to Alcorn State

University this year on an exchange programme to spend a month there learning

Agri business management aspects by attending classes on the campus as well as

visiting selected Agri business.

NETWORKING WITH ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS

This programme promotes students to come forward and take up any agricultural as well as allied practices and work in a

team as per their own interest. It helps them gain the real-time field experience and market exposure to students where

they can apply their knowledge of the organization and acquire practical acumen of agri-business. The basic Objective of

this programme is to inculcate entrepreneurial skills in the students.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Students visit the nearby villages and study the supply

chain related issues in marketing of farm produce. The

programme includes visits to the fields and markets

and personal interaction with the farmers.

AGRI MARKETING SURVEYS

Students organize weekly quizzes in the campus to update their

knowledge on a variety of topics which help students to sharpen their

knowledge and also develop a spirit of competitiveness.‘MANO’GLE Business Quiz

The members of the club meet and discuss at regular intervals on

aspects related to Marketing and Business Strategy. Live projects

are also taken up by the students under this and the market

analyses are regularly presented and discussed by the students.

This is found to be a very good enabler of sharpening of

understanding of business strategy needs of organizations.

MARK’NITI’Marketing Club

- The finance club is an initiative made by students to create an

environment of learning in the field of finance that produces financial

professionals. This is achieved by organizing various events like

corporate interaction and live projects and case studies. It proactively

conducts activities that encourage sharing knowledge and information

about the Agri financial sector.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED Cell):

AICTE sponsored Entrepreneurship Development Cell was inaugurated on 7th October 2013.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell is established in the campus to create awareness and to

develop skills set for students for fulfilling their dream to become successful entrepreneurs.

ED Cell organizes lectures, workshops, skill development programs by inviting speakers from

industry, successful entrepreneurs, Banks & Financial Institutions, Govt. institutions

promoting Micro, Small, Medium scale industries, District Industries Centre etc.

Convocation Ceremony of Food and Agri Business School (FABS)

& Sagar Global Business School (SGBS) was held at Sagar Group

of Institutions, Chevella, on 8th August’ 2013. Padmashree Dr. E.A.

Siddiq was the Chief Guest and Dr. A. Padma Raju, Vice Chancellor

of ANGRAU, Hyderabad was the Guest of Honour.

Convocation key note address was delivered by Padmashree Dr. E.

A. Siddiq on ”Sustainable Agriculture is the strategy for prosperity of

Indian farmers”.

ACADEMIC BACK GROUNDThe batch has students from diverse backgrounds and

different areas of interest including agriculture, food

technology, agricultural engineering and agricultural

biotechnology. Such a heterogeneous background

the classroom discussions with different perspectives

and innovative ideas emerging from students.

summer projects in different aspects like Agri input,

Retail, Rural marketing, Food processing, Agri

consultancy and NGO’s. The details are shown in the

PIE diagram.

FABS believes that good education should provide a balance mix

of inputs that enriches one's mind and soul. In order to impart a

right mix of inputs for emotional balance , personality

development, theoretical and applied managerial skills, FABS

established a unique facility in the campus, Global Academy of

Life Skills Development (GOALS). The Academy would use

proven techniques such as Yoga, Art of Living, Meditation and

personal growth labs to promote life skills and become a well

rounded personality. A sound mind in a sound body makes them

healthy, wealthy and wise. Guidance is also provided to students

getting into Civil services such as IAS, IPS and IFS etc. Working

and retired IAS officers are driving this programme.
