TIME FOR A CHANGEWELCOME TO PIVOT - CREATING FUTURE STORIES.The world has changed considerably since One to One was established in the year 2000. We began with a clear vision of the services and value we wanted to deliver to our clients. We chose the name because of our one to one client focus.

But times change and we have come to realise what what we do is no longer one to one. It is many to one - we now have a collection of experts able to deliver a range of services to our clients, the presented a difficulty to us in explaining what we do to the wider community.

So we decided it was time to move away from One to One and we have renamed ourselves Pivot.

Why Pivot? When it comes to building a balanced financial future multiple perspectives are essential. Pivot is a name that reflects balance but also the ability to change direction and apply multiple perspectives to our clients challenges and opportunities.

While our name is changing, our people and approach is not.

If you have any questions around the name change, the new premises or would simply like to have a chat please do get in touch, we’d love to talk.

Well what a night! Kicked off rather well we think with the Pivot Cocktail Party where many of the finalists, supporters, sponsors and VIP’s enjoyed champagne and nibbles before heading to the awards function. We thought it would be nice to offer the opportunity for professional photos as everyone was looking so glamourous, and many made the most of it (we will be sending these out over the next few days).

Zest, winning South Canterbury Business Award 2014.We were absolutely delighted that this year that three of our clients were selected as finalists:

Zest Restaurant – Hospitality IndustryThe Shade House – RetailRichards Building – Construction Industry

A fantastic achievement and so good to celebrate all the hard work they put into their businesses that so justly made them finalists. All made great videos presentations which were shared on the night so yet another promotional

activity to flow from entering the awards by showcasing their businesses to the 350 attendees.

Richard’s Building at South Canterbury Business awards 2014.The awards have turned into a prestigious event, very well produced, top quality judges, fantastic food and entertainment including this year the very funny MC for the night, Paul Ego AKA the voice of Pak n Save and 7 Days legend.

To top off a great night, Zest won the Hospitality Industry Award AND the People’s Choice Award! So well deserved and a great reflection of the extreme focus and sheer hard work that Kristy and Grant continually put into their business. We are so proud of them and really appreciated Kristy thanking Pivot in her acceptance speech.

Campbell Holdings (2012), Dean Campbell and Kate McCallum 50/50 sharemilkers & Family succession planning leading to farm ownership. It had been playing on their mind…

that they were building an expanding farming business that relied on their skills, drive and management to produce the profit levels needed to achieve farm ownership over the next ten years.

It was really important to them …

to have a team of skilled and dedicated professionals around them to work with them to grow, develop and protect their business … and their family. They felt they had the ideal accountant, a top lawyer, and a supportive banker. While they had some life insurance in place, they did not feel confident they had a good plan around their farm and personal risks. It was only when their lawyer referred them to Wilhelmina that they felt they could build a strong relationship and have trust and confidence in their risk planning.

Finding the way forward was all about…

working with someone who took the time to understand their business and them personally and could provide them with sound advice now and into the future. It was also important that the members of their professional team work together to understand the full picture. In this regard, Wilhelmina has worked with both their accountant and lawyer to ensure the risk plan is consistent with other business objectives including their family succession planning.

This is what they say now…

“To be honest, we really didn’t know what to expect when we first started working with Wilhelmina. All we knew was that she came highly recommended by our lawyer. From the first meeting, we found that the process was completely different to anything else we had been through. WIlhelmina spent two hours just getting to know us and understand our business and as she comes from a farming background she was able to ask insightful questions. She is a true professional and has always placed our interests first – it gives us great comfort to know that Wilhelmina has our backs and is there when we most need her.”

Every good athlete has a team behind them. Here’s what the team at Pivot thought about their very own in house athlete Glenn Black and his fight for charity.

The ASPECT Charity Fight Night last Saturday went off without a hitch. Fighting with over sized Boxing gloves one of Pivots own, Glenn Black took away a win in the arena. Around $25,000 was raised for the trust in what has been described as a “brilliant” night at the Southern Trust Events centre.

What were your expectations for the Fight night?

I expected a small crowd there to support it. I didn’t expect the set up to be as good as it was. The boxing ring was really well done with the lighting. The entrances from all the boxers and their support crews were great as well.

How did you help Glenn prepare for the Fight?

We helped Glenn with encouragement. We think Glenn having an entourage going up with him into the ring helped out so he didn’t feel so self-conscious and that it was just him. Tracy was at the side of the ring to be his doctor/assistant so it would’ve been nice for him knowing that we were all there for him. How do you think Glenn did?

Glenn did excellent. He fought really well and held his own in the ring. With the boxing gloves being 6 kg each, fighting with them on for two 2 minute rounds would’ve been very tiring so it was great to see him walk out with a win.

Were there any moments in the Fight that stood out for you?

There was a great entrance by Lacy Stewart where she came in on a horse and then entered the ring. It was also great to see Glenn “The Number Cruncher” Black take the win.

Did you enjoy the evening? What part of the event was the best?

The evening was fantastic. The corporate tables were positioned really well with great views and great food. The grandstands also had a great view of the ring. No one missed out on seeing what was going on. There was a lot of humour involved which I didn’t expect. It was also great to see the MC dressed up along with the referee.

Would you recommend going to an event like this to others? If so why?

I would recommend attending this as it is a great night out. The event has been really well thought out and everything worked out down to a T. There didn’t seem to be any glitches. There wasn’t a delay between fights which was good as I expected this would happen and the night would drag out.

Why was it so important to you at Pivot to support Glenn in a cause like the Char-ity Fight night?

Glenn was fighting for a good cause, and as a professional firm, we like to be socially responsible and support-ive of local charities and fundraising. It was great to see the ASPECT trust raised $25,000 for local athletes off this event.

We have a new website which we are very excited about. You may find some new things out about us which you didn’t know before.
