Fresh off a 2-1 home loss to Saint Louis FC on Wednesday, the Hounds will look to get back to .500 by picking up their second straight win on the road. Charlotte heads into the match with two games in hand, but enter the game in search of points in a hurry. Netting only one to date this season off a road draw with Orlando City B, the Independence currently sit 14th in the Eastern Conference table. The club’s only other match of 2017 so far resulted in 2-0 shutout at home against the Battery - a squad Pittsburgh is only a week removed from defeating 2-1 at MUSC Health Stadium. Meetings against the Independence have not gone well for Pittsburgh. Since Charlotte joined the USL in 2015, the Hounds have yet to nab a win in five meetings (0-4-1). On the road has particularly been unforgiving with Pittsburgh being outscored 8-2 in three meetings, including 4-0 last season. Wednesday’s tilt against Saint Louis was bizarre to say the least, as the Hounds lost despite their defense producing season lows in shots (9) and shots on goal (2) allowed and the offense leading the visitors in the latter (3) and tying in the former (2). Last season saw the Hounds allow three shots on goal or less on eight occasions, going 4-3-1 in those contests. Perhaps one reason for the unfavorable result came due the Hounds leading goal scorer Corey Hertzog being held to zero shots for the first time this year. An apparent injury midway through the second half certainly didn’t help, as he registered less than a full 90 for the first time since May 21, 2016. Not surprisingly, the Hounds were 0-5-1 last season in matches Hertzog recorded zero shots. Fellow forward Kay Banjo has starred the past two matches, recording his first career point, an assist at Charleston, and first career goal, against Saint Louis, in back-to-back matches. The UMBC product made his first professional start this past Wednesday, playing a full 90, leading the Hounds in shots (3), not including his bid for a brace hitting the post in the first half. If the Hounds are able to grind out a win this weekend, it might be time to start dubbing the club road warriors. The last time Pittsburgh recorded back-to-back wins on the road came in 2014 with victories at the Rochester Rhinos (June 7) and the Dayton Dutch Lions (July 2). 2017 SCHEDULE & RECORD Overall Record: 1-2-1 Home: 0-2-1 • Away: 1-0-0 • Non-League Play: 0-0-0 MARCH Sat. 25 NEW YORK RED BULLS II YouTube T, 3-3 APRIL Sat. 1 FC CINCINNATI YouTube L, 0-1 Sat. 8 @Charleston Battery YouTube W, 2-1 Wed. 12 SAINT LOUIS FC YouTube L, 1-2 Sat. 15 @Charlotte Independence YouTube 7 pm Sat. 22 @Richmond Kickers YouTube 5 pm Sat. 29 HARRISBURG CITY ISLANDERS YouTube 7 pm MAY Wed. 3 TORONTO FC II YouTube 7 pm Sat. 13 @Ottawa Fury FC YouTube 2 pm Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round Two Sat. 17 TBD N/A TBD Sat. 20 LOUISVILLE CITY FC YouTube 7 pm Wed. 24 @Harrisburg City Islanders YouTube 6:30 pm JUNE Sat. 3 ORLANDO CITY B YouTube 7 pm Sat. 10 @Toronto FC II YouTube 7:30 pm Sat. 17 @Louisville City FC YouTube 7:30 pm Thur. 22 TAMPA BAY ROWDIES YouTube 7 pm JULY Tue. 4 CHARLOTTE INDEPENDENCE YouTube 7 pm Sat. 8 @Orlando City B YouTube 7:30 pm Sat. 15 @Bethlehem Steel FC YouTube 5 pm Sat. 22 @Rochester Rhinos YouTube 6:05 pm Wed. 26 CHARLESTON BATTERY YouTube 7 pm Sat. 29 @Tampa Bay Rowdies YouTube 7:30 pm AUGUST Sat. 5 RICHMOND KICKERS YouTube 7 pm Sat. 12 @Harrisburg City Islanders YouTube 7 pm Sat. 19 @Saint Louis FC YouTube 8:30 pm Sat. 26 BETHLEHEM STEEL FC YouTube 7 pm SEPTEMBER Sat. 2 @FC Cincinnati YouTube 4 pm Sat. 9 LOUISVILLE CITY FC YouTube 7 pm Sat. 16 ROCHESTER RHINOS YouTube 7 pm Sun. 24 @Bethlehem Steel FC YouTube 3 pm Sat. 30 @New York Red Bulls II YouTube 4 pm OCTOBER Sat. 7 ROCHESTER RHINOS YouTube 7 pm Sat. 14 OTTAWA FURY FC YouTube 7 pm 2017 Pittsburgh Riverhounds > riverhounds.com > @PghRiverhounds > #CLTvPGH LAST TIME OUT Last Game Summary Hounds, 1, Saint Louis FC, 2 Game 4 Highmark Stadium April 12, 2017 INDIVIDUAL Category Riverhounds Opponent Points 4 - Corey Hertzog vs. New York (3/25) 4 - Vincent Bezecourt, New York (3/25) Goals 2 - Corey Hertzog vs. New York (3/25) 2 - Vincent Bezecourt, New York (3/25) Assists 1 - Kevin Kerr at Charleston (4/8) 2 - Wes Charpie, Saint Louis (4/12) 1 - Kay Banjo - at Charleston (4/8) 1 - Marshall Hollingsworth vs. New York (3/25) 1 - Taylor Washington vs. New York (3/25) Shots 6 - Corey Hertzog vs. New York (3/25) 4 - Vincent Bezecourt, New York (3/25) 4 - Florian Valot, New York (3/25) SOG 4 - Corey Hertzog vs. New York (3/25) 3 - Florian Valot, New York (3/25) Saves 4 - Keasel Broome vs. New York (3/25) 4 - Mitch Hildebrandt, Cincinnati (4/1) TEAM Hounds High Hounds Low Category Opp High Opp Low 8 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - vs. Cincinnati (4/1) Points 8 - vs. New York (3/25) 3 - twice 3 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - vs. Cincinnati (4/1) Goals 3 - vs. New York (3/25) 1 - twice 2 - twice 0 - twice Assists 2 - vs. New York (3/25) 1 - twice 14 - vs. New York (3/25) 9 - vs. Saint Louis (4/12) Shots 16 - vs. Cincinnati (4/1) 9 - vs. Saint Louis (4/12) 6 - vs. New York (3/25) 3 - twice SOG 7 - vs. New York (3/25) 2 - vs. Saint Louis (4/12) 4 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - vs. Saint Louis (4/12) Saves 4 - vs. Cincinnati (4/1) 2 - twice 14 - at Charleston (4/8) 9 - vs. Saint Louis (4/12) Fouls 17 - twice 12 - vs. Saint Louis (4/12) SUPERLATIVES CLUB NOTABLES All-Time Leading Goal Scorer ......................................................................
