Glorious gardeners! Check out these fantastic gardeners from Room 4.

Another busy busy term has come to an end. Looking back, we have a number of highlights to be very proud of: Southland Community Service Awards, Southland Speech Competition, Southland Science Fair, Polyfest, Ski trip, Southland Chess Tournament, Southland Community Environment Awards, Olimepics and Talentquest.

Being part of Team Limehills - BOT, teachers, support staff, parents, kids and members of our wider community - is an enormous privelege. Now we turn our attention to Term 4 - with class camps and Pet Day to enjoy. We will also have a series of sessions with the Central Southland Sports Activator, Ngawai Eyles. She will deliver one session per week per class on Mondays and Tuesdays next term.

Have a great break. Enjoy the fine weather and thanks for your continued support.

MATANGI SCHOOL VISIT Last Friday we had Matangi School come and see what we did for SVA. Tayla, Ethan, Annalise and Bella were the tour guides. It was a great experience for the Limehills School students. We started off at the gate to welcome them to Limehills School and then took them to the staff room to meet Mr Turrell. We took them to the Pavilion to show them the cooking we do for Ronald McDonald Family Room, then went to the farm and talked about how we run it. Near the end of the day they came round to room 8 and saw all the projects we have been working on. The day was great. It was a great opportunity for the students at Limehills School. Pet Day update This week we collected in the Pet Show Logo competition entries and we came to an agreement. The Year 8s judged them on Monday and have handed out a 3rd, 2nd and 1st place. It was a tough decision and the end result was close but we decided the following:

1st - Jade Hamilton 2nd - Daniel Munro 3rd - Poppi Clark

Congratulations to Jade. Her logo will be used on everything associated with Pet Show. A big thanks to all of the students who entered.

Christmas Hamper Raffle The Pet Show raffle cards will be handed out this week to start selling. The family who sells the most raffles cards will get a prize on Pet Show, more cards are available from the school office.

SMAC MATHS For the last term some very lucky people have spent a morning each week with Mr Turrell dedicated to SMAC maths. The big night is tonight and the competition is being held at James Hargest. We are very excited for this night as we have been working up to this for weeks! Limehills has entered 3 teams, 1 Year 7 and 2 Year 8. Wish us luck and you will find our results in the next newsletter. By Emily Thomson

Ronald McDonald update Thank you to the following people who contributed to last week's deliver for the Ronald McDonald Family Room: Prue Collie who made pumpkin soup and sticky date pudding, Mia Harper who made a dozen cheese rolls, Harry's hens who laid a dozen eggs and the kids who made the bacon and egg pie. Thanks to Manigha’s nana who helped make the bacon and egg pie. We have had so many people offer to cook for the families, so the letters that I sent out are changed because of all the offers. So just keep an eye out in the newsletter to see when you are cooking again. Since the holidays are not far away if anyone would like to cook for the holidays you are welcome to. You can drop it off at school by Friday and we will pop it in the freezer. Remember if you don't have time to do the cooking yourself you can send in a recipe and provide us with ingredients and then us kids will cook your dish for you. Thanks for all your help. Hannah

Amazing Adventure Area! Over the last couple of weeks the Cultural Army has been busy building an adventure area at the dirt pile. We have built a tyre tunnel for kids to climb on top of and also to play inside. Thank you Blair Vining for coming out and helping us build the tyre tunnel and giving up your time to be a volunteer. We really appreciate it. On Monday night we made a presentation at the Board of Trustees meeting explaining more plans that we have for the dirt pile and asking for their permission to start doing some building. Once we get a reply we will put our plans in the newsletter for you to look at. From Jenson, Ben and the Cultural Army Crew

Basketball Report In the second week of the school holiday we will be making our way up to Christchurch to join our teams to compete in the U13 South Island tournament. The tournament starts on Wednesday and finishes on Saturday. The girls team (Jaime’s team) is in the A grade competition so I will have a hard battle for first against the likes of Nelson, Christchurch and Otago just to name a few. Blake’s team is in the B Grade and they will be battled stiff by the likes of North Otago, Canterbury and Nelson. We can’t wait for our tournament to begin and we will write an article next term about how we went. By Jaime and Blake
