Unusual'cos it was from Jamie, andthe m o s t Jamie's ever invitedme to before is a stable muck-in at his local horse house! But it seemed his GreatAunt Gertrude was having a"ghost-warming party" at hernome, Chillberry Hall."It's a special 'do' to makeher friendly pet ghost feel athome," Jamie joked, tryingnot to look nervous. "Just myaunt s little joke, y'know. Shereckons her stately mansion'shaunted,' he went on, his hairstanding up on end like afreaky cat. "And the wayshe's been acting recently itcould well be true ... There are about six litres ofblood pumping around your bodyall the time but the only timeyou're likely to notice is whenyou cut yourself. Blood is prettyboring stuff, or so Ihought untilIwas sentto interview Mr.Alucard,"Go and interview Mr.Alucard," they said at the office."He's an expert on blood." Andthey pressed an address card intomy hot little hand."But Pink readers don't wantan article on blood," Iprotested."It's not interesting enough."

They wouldn't listen. Isuspected they wanted me out ofthe way because they were either(a) having a secret office party,(bl being visited by Lynsey dePaul (and they know I'm crazyabout her) or (c) were moving thePink office to the OuterHebrides where they hoped Iwouldn't find them.Off Iwent, notebook in hand,to a big old house in the middleof Epping Forest. Mr Alucardwas dressed all in black. He wastau and pale and thin."Come in, .dear boy," he said, getting a stranglehold on my tieand dragging me into a darkroom. The only light came from acandle burning in a skull on themantlepiece."Blood," Isaid. "I'm fromblood and I've come to talk aboutPink. No, I'm from talk and I'mhere to Pink your blood.""Lovely stuff, blood," he said."It helps to fight disease. In adrop the size of a pinhead thereare about five million red cells.""Oh, yes," I said, feeling a hotflush coming on. "Are you adoctor?" ."No, I'm just a bloodenthusiast. Have been foryears. Years and years andyears." He smiled at me."Excuse me," I said, grabbing

the door handle. "I've justremembered I've got an urgentappointment elsewhere. Almostanywhere elsewhere."The door was locked."Do my teeth bother you?"Mr. Alucard asked. "Somepeople get funny about my teeth.Actually, they're very useful forpunching holes in the tops ofmilk bottles. Are you a blooddonor?""Er, no. I've got a prettyunusual blood group. Group C. Cfor custard. My blood isn't likeordinary blood."

"There are about fifteendifferent blood groups," hesmiled, "and custard isn't one ofthem. Did you know that thehuman body can lose a pint ofblood quite safely?""N0," Iaid, "but I've justfigured out that Alucard isDracula spelt backwards.""You look tired," he smirked."Why don't you have a lie downin this coffin? You might as well,'cos the door is locked and thewindows are barred. There's noway out."He was wrong, of course, or Iwouldn't be here now to tell thetate. Itwas a pretty tight squeezegoing up' that chimney but Imade it and left Epping Forest ina cloud of soot. The office hadn't moved to theOuter Hebrides and there was nosign of a wild patty having takenplace. But the girls acted a bitodd. They denied having sent meto interview Mr. Alucard andaccused me of watching toomany late night horror movies onteUy.I don't trust those girls anymore. At first it maymake them feel big to knowthat their girlfriend gets upsetif they look at another girl. But after a while, they'll getfed-up with playing gamesand you'll have no-one to bejealous of any more.Friends, too, will get prettyfed up if yqu try to be toopossessive, to stop themenjoying themselves withother people. So, what can you do? Well, here are a few things you ...Shouldn't do ...Don't feel tempted to say

something nasty if you catchyow' boyfriend eyeing u panother girl.Don't get worried if he says,"Cor, she's nice looking, isn'tshe?" Admit to yourself thatyes, she is attractive and 'there's no reason why heshouldn't notice it. Just'because you're with him itdoesn't stop you from noticingother tasty felIas, does it?Don't hover about watchinghis every move. If he'sdancing with another girl andhe catches you glaring, hemay feel tempted to play it upjust to make you feel jealous. The same thing goes forfriends. When you're out withthem you should expect themto chat to other people, too,and not just sit with you aUevening.Don't stick by yourboyfriend's (or friend's) sideall the time. Dance with otherblokes, talk to them and havea good time, It's not a goodidea to let yourself becometoo dependent on anyone. Itmeans you'll get hurt moreeasily.Just Human ...Don't worry, everyone feels apang of jealousy burninginside sometimes - it s anatural emotion that tells youyou care deeply and lovinglyfor someone. It's just thatsome of us feel it to a greateror lesser degree, dependinghow fiery or possessive ournatures are. Let's face it -all boys are goin' to look atother girls ... that too is justbuman nature, so for yourown good, it 's up to you to tryand conceal what you feel. Becool ...Don't take it so seriouslythat you stop going out withpeople for fear of gettingjealous. Treat it as a bit of ajoke and don't let it get out o fhand. And don't be envious ofthose people who flit fromone person to another sayingthat they never get jealous. Some people don't becomejealous until they meetsomeone they really care for- and they're obviously thatkind. It doesn't make themany better or worse - justhuman ... like you!

We thought it was about time we gave youthe facts behind laH those beauty tips ...After -au, if you understand the causesperhaps you can prevent the problem.THE RIGHT BRAMaria from Essex wrote to usasking about bras ... how sheshould go about buying oneand which to choose. The first thing to rememberis that when you're buying abra it must fit perfectly, so it'sneither too tight nor too loose- especially if you're stillgrowing. A bad fit could stopyou developing naturally. But whether you're fullydeveloped or still developing"the same rules apply whenyou're buying a bra. First ofall, always make sure you caneither try it on in the shop, orchange it if it doesn't fityou properly.Choose a bra withelastica ted sides and straps. -they're far more comfortable. But make sure it holds youfirmly without leaving anymarks on your skin. And don't be misled bypretty motifs and bows. O fcourse you want your bra to ~be pretty but, remember, it ~ ,,/, ~'~:>has a.job to do, and make sure ." 7 : / 1 ~ . , : ( ~ ~it does it properly! - ,:-- '/ ~ .... II v/. I. \' ,I ,\ "1\HAIR /' \ ,I,'Maggie from Scotland asks: / .. ~ .. . " '""What can Ido with my hair. / " i JIt's split at the ends and Iunrnanageabls,' ,Well, firstly here's a few _.l-....III'I~things you should know abouthair. Each individual hair hasa life expectancy of from 2 to4 years, and because newhairs are growingcontinuously you losebetween 50 and 100 hairs 3day. This is normal.Every hair on your head isessentially a non-living tissuemade up of a protein calledKeratin. The longer your hairgrows the more punishment ittakes what with styling, dryers and the' weather, andthe result is that it tends tolose the precious Keratin atthe ends . . . Result - splitends!Conditioners and proteinshampoos definitely keep yourhair looking healthier, buttho' they close up split ends, they don't get rid on them.

The only way to do that is tohave them cut off - which iswhy regular trimming is reallyimportant.SKIN .Skin can be a problem toalmost any girl and Kim fromMiddlesex is just one of ourreaders who's written aboutskin problems. If you've followed yourbiology lessons then you'llknow that your skin has twolayers - the dermis and theepidermis. It's fed by tiny, very sensitive blood vesselsand your emotions affect theway these blood vesselsbehave. For example, embarrassment will makethem dilate, so that bloodrushes through, making theskin blush. Panic has theopposite effect causing theblood supply to be cut off and

    f (

making the face go white. So, because your bloodplays an important part in theway your skin looks it must behealthy. Which means gettingplenty of clean air and eatingfresh foods to ensure theoxygen supply it needs to stayin tip-top condition!Unfortunately the oil inyoung skins tends to bethicker and easily clogs thepores. The next thing thathappens (yes, you've got itl) ablackhead! When blackheadsjoin fOlces an infection formsand before you know it, acrop of spots has popped u p .So the most important thingof all is to keep your skinscrupulously clean. and never.

If you'vegot the will power it's easy. Ifnot - it's a real struggle! Butsensibly and exercising

)vegularly is by far the\ best way to go about it.Eating sensibly means

I following a calorie-controlled diet. Obviously, the amount of energy you useup varies from day to day,but a rough average of 1,200to 1,500 calories per day iswhat most people need.Which means you don't haveto give up bread and potatoescompletely, as long as youdon't eat too many. Anddon't forget to eat healthily. That means getting plentyof vegetables, meat, fish, fruit and milk. Crashdiets are no use at all. Notonly are they dangerous, butthe minute you start eatingnormally again the poundswill just go straight back on.

Dieting and exercise gohand in hand if you're to loseweight in the right places. And to keep track of howyou're doing have a weigh-inevery couple of days. It takestime, but it's worth it.PERSONAL FRESHNESSAnna from Stoke-on- Trent hasa problem with perspiration."It can be reallyembarrassing," she wrote."What can Ido about it? '

First, you've got to realisethat perspiration is a perfectlynatural thing - which isn't tosay that you have to put upwith the unpleasant odour itcan produce. There are two kinds ofsweating. The first kindhappens w hen yo u're ho t;your body produces a clear, slightly salty water whichevaporates on your skin andcools you down. The other kind is morecomplex. It's often called'nervous perspiration' and it'sthat kind that produces anasty smell. And (as youprobably guessed) almost allthe tiny glands that producethis kind of sweat are situatedin your armpits!ThE;!best remedy is to use adeodorant or antiperspirantregularly. The first acts bykilling off the bacteria thatcreate the smell. Anti-perspirants simply keep theskin dry and stop the bacteriafrom developing.Of course, cleanliness isimportant, too - so makesure you wash well at leastonce every day. Shavingdoesn't affect underarmperspiration, but it does makethe skin easier to keep clean- and means that bacteriawhich can cling to the hairswill be removed before theycan develop and produce thatnasty smell!

FEETWhen you think of it, eventho' they spend most of theirtime hidden away in yourshoes, your feet have a prettyimportant job to do. For a

start, they have to supportyour body - all 8 to 12 stoneof it - and they have to act asa lever to propel you forwardwhen you walk. A pretty tallorder.Which explains why feet'resuc h intricate little (or maybenot so little!) mechanisms, made up of dozens of tinybones and muscles ... andwhy it's important that youshould look after them.Nothing's moreuncomfortable than achingfeet, as we all know, andnothing's more guaranteed tomake 'em ache than wearingill-fitting shoes. And shoesthat pinch and rub aren't justagony to wear - they do yourfeet a lot of damage that'llstill be with you lo ng a ft eryou've thrown the offendingshoes away ... Like corns andcaUouses - even bunions, ifyou're not eareful! So, look after your feet bybathing them occasionally inhot salt water ... and nexttime you buy a pair of shoes, make sure they fit!

I'm afraid imight leave ittoo late and Iwon't ever beable to phone him or keep intouch.Do you think Ihould phonehim, as we got on so welltogether? We never had anyarguments or disagreementsof any kind.Bay City RoUer Fan,ScotlandDear B.C.R.F., No, I'mafraid I don't feel youshould phone him. Therelationship you had withthis boy seems to havebeen quite sensible andgood. Don't chanceruining it now by beingtoo aggressive. How would you feelif Scott asked youfor a date"! Kindasickish, eh? Yeah,me too ...

SPOT THE SCOTTIt may surprise you to hearthis but.Iwent out with Scottlast night. It's not that I've suddenlygot a crush on him Ofanything sickening like that,No, it was more of a bet, really. He said to me, "I bet youI've got more fans than youhave," and Isaid, "Ohyeah," in a threatening sortof way.So we decided we'd go outtogether and see how manypeople recognised us. Theone who was recognisedmost often was the winnerand would have to write theother one a fan letter everyweek for the rest of his/herlife. Yuk!"Shouldn't we take Jamiealong as well," Iaid kindly.'Nah," said Spotty ~sorry, Scotty. "Even if theydid recognise him they'd justrun away or faint on thespot. "Well, at least we agree onone thing.Scott suggested we shouldgo to a disco near his placeand 1. innocent fool that Iam, said okay. There was a very exci tingmoment on the bus when alittle old lady sitting in frontof us kept turning round andstaring at me."She's recognised me,she's recognised me!" 1hissed.Scott was writing 'I loveScott' backwards on thesteamed up window and Ipretended not to notice.Suddenly, she spoke."Excuse me, dear, could youget me my Sp. It's rolledunder your seat," she said.Scott sniggered. We hadri't been in the

disco two minutes when thisblonde with spiders stuck onher eyelids rushed up toScott and said, "Oooh, it isyou, isn't it? Scott from Pinkand Music Star?"And then, just as 1waspicking myself up off thefloor this whole gaggle ofgirls rushed up to himwaving autograph books andsnipping at his hair withscissors. It was revolting."Okay," 1said, "you win.Expect your first letter onMonday.""Scott," said this lispingvoice - it was the blonde,"can 1have a word ... ""NQt now," said our hero, shoving her to one side. She looked peeved. "I justwanted my 50p," she said."Me and the other girls havebeen hanging around here allnight waiting for you toarrive and we're not going tobe fobbed off with yourTotten autograph ... "Turned out he'd offered topay all those girls 50p ifthey'd 'recognise' him.Rotten cad! He didn't winthe bet anyway. We'vedecided to call it quits."You're a pretty niceperson, really," he Saidwhen it was all over."Yeah, and you're not badlooking, either," I said ..But I had my fingerscrossed ...

C'MON OVER TO MYPLACE ..My cats have been havingrave-ups while I'm out.I'm not joking, honest. Iget back from work andthere's all these strangemoggies lying about on th esofa and the record player. One was even on my bed!I've come to th econclusion that as soon as 1go out in the morning, mytwo nip out and invite all the.lads round. Soon they'll behaving dances and chargingeverybody 50p a ticket.Iwouldn't mind butthey will leave their deadmice in the nastiest places. Igot out of bed the othermorning and trod onsomething soft and furry."Ah, my slipper," Isaid. It wasn't until dawn, about three hours later (Ihave to gel up that early tolet the cats out otherwisethey keep running aroundwith their legs crossed), thatIrealised my bare foot hadbeen in contact with amouse. Dead, of course. Nowonder Icouldn't get it on.So I'd just like to say thatmy cats will be having an 'athome' next Thursday and if

any of my feline readerswould care to pop roundthey'd be more thanwelcome. And if any of youlot understand this you'redoing better than 1 am ...PSMy more observant readerswill have noticed somethingnew and exciting and totallydifferent at the top of mypage this week. So, how doyou reckon on the newmug-shot, then? Pretty tasty,eh? Well, I had to do SOme-thing about the old one, didn'tI .. People were complaining.
