There were a number of members who completed the first part of the application but did not finish while others who suffered a loss did not sign up at all, like some of our Elders.

CULTURAL MENTOR Pikwakanagan Sports & Recreation Department is looking for an interested member to be a “Cultural Mentor”. Our younger generation will be the ones who carry on our traditions, they will be the next Bear Nation...
In order for them to learn how to drum, to sing, they need mentors to come forward to teach them these traditions, to share their experiences with them.
If you are interested in becoming a Cultural Mentor to teach our young boys to drum, please submit a brief letter including total cost to run a 7 week program, time 6:30-8:00 pm, training drum to be provided. Submit brief letter to Natasha Dick , Community Events Programmer by October 20, 2017 at noon. Selected Cultural Mentor will be contacted and will be required to submit a clear CPIC prior to commencing any programming with our children.
We are looking to hold a 7 week Cultural Mentoring program, once a week at the Makwa Community Centre beginning November to mid-December (End Date Presentation at the Christmas Feast).

Training Opportunity for “On Call” School Bus Drivers
Education Services will provide onsite-training for two (2) candidates to train as school bus drivers to be available for “On Call” as required.
Requirements to qualify for Class B License:
o At least 21 years of age o Valid Class G license held for 3 years or higher o Ability to meet vision standards o Satisfactory medical examination report o Ability to meet hearing standards o Satisfactory driver record (Past 3-Year Driver’s Abstract) o No suspension or loss of points (12 months or longer) o Be able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Record o CPR and First Aid Training or will take CPR and First Aid Training
If you are outgoing, communicate well with all ages; please submit your resume and covering letter to state how you meet the requirements to train as an “On Call” Bus Driver.

THE CANADA ONTARIO RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT (CORDA)
The Canada Ontario Resource Development Agreement (CORDA) is now accepting applications for 2018-2019. Do you have a natural resource use or conservation project in mind for your community, organization, or small business? Do you know of community members or youth planning to undertake work in this area?
Eligible Project Categories Include; Forestry, Trapping, Fishing, Other.
First Nations, their members and organizations, and Treaty organizations in Ontario are eligible to apply for funding. The Maximum funding level for projects is $35,000.00 per year. *Communities may submit multiple applications.
Applications can be picked up from Christine Lightbody at the Administration Office. Applications must be received by the CORDA Office by Monday, October 30, 2017.

AOPFN ART PROJECT
Community members, the youth of Pikwakanagan will be unveiling the AOPFN Art Project- Community Mural at the Makwa Centre on October 19, 2017 at 3:30 p.m.
The mural was completed during the summer and will be displayed at the Makwa Centre. Please join us and see the beautiful art piece that was created by our Youth.
