Spring Newsletter Hello everyone we hope you have all enjoyed
some much needed rest over the Easter
holidays.
For those that don’t know who we are, we are
a rescue centre for Pigs and Terrapin/Turtles
but also have 2 Pigmy Goats and Hens.
Recently a lot has been happening up at Pig
Inn Heaven, we have moved to a new site,
luckily not too far from the previous site. So far
all the animal housing has been moved on to
the new site, it has taken 200 ton of stone to
get a road through and are presently looking
for 100 ton of plainings to put on top (donation
would be greatly received). This will make it a
safe walkway for forthcoming visitors.
New Site Open Day
The weather has been against us at times due
to our very wet winter, then the snow came but
fortunate not for too long. Thankfully the
weather is now becoming milder so full steam
ahead to get the site finished for our open day
on the 3rd
September 2016.
Lagoon
We now have our own lagoon, the mud had to
be dredged and a pond liner was used to line
the lagoon (cursitory of Alderburgh Ltd,
Rochdale) they have been very kind in
donating materials for the new site. The lagoon
now holds 60 thousand litres of clean fresh
spring water for use on site.
Tree of Knowledge
We have a wonderful wood on the land which
was originally where the mill owners’ house
was situated back in the 1800’s who owned
Sladen Mill. In the wood there is a beech tree
which is between 80–100 years old and this
will become our very own tree of knowledge.
Information will be research and pinned onto
the tree about the past history of Sladen Mill
and now the present of an animal sanctuary.
Our ultimate aim is to get the Pig Inn Heaven
site child friendly ready so we can hold
education visits and have the general public
visiting the animals.
Rehoming
We have recently rehomed our 9 Geese and 1
Duck, they have gone to 2 good homes,
pictures showing them being loaded up onto
the trailer and on their new land in Summit,
Littleborough. We hope they enjoy their new
home and we will be in contact to see how
they are getting on.
New Arrivals
We have recently taken on 5 new Terrapins
Ziggy, Nemo, Scrabble, Tat & Tot. We would
like to welcome them to their new home and
hope they enjoy being with their new reptilian
family.
Spring chicken
The hens are very busy now the weather is
getting warmer laying eggs for the spring
season. They are enjoying the new site
scratting around the woodland seeing what
they can find, they really are free range.
Health News
We have a couple of poorly terrapins at
present who have recently had to take a visit
to the vets, they both have been diagnosed
with a bacterial infection in their shells.
Daily injections and cream is applied to help
with the healing process. The Vet has assured
us that they will soon recover.
Education Visits
We have recently been to local primary
schools and nurseries giving out information
on Pig Inn Heaven and to organise education
visits for the children, we are excited about this
new venture and hope it is a successful one.
Lunch for Three
Gino and Ashraf our 2 Pigmy Goats decided to
share their lunch with Newt one of our resident
pigs, the goats really enjoy the pigs company
and interact very well.
Foraging In the Field
As you can see the pigs have really settled
into their new home, foraging in the field to see
what they can find, no truffles unfortunately.
Sleepy Heads
Pigs fed and watered and now settling down to
sleep it’s a hard life on this new site, open
aspect views are so relaxing. What a great
place to live up at Pig Inn Heaven.
Make a Donation
If you would like to make a
donation to the sanctuary
please go to our website
www.piginnheaven.co.uk
and make a payment
through Paypal or make
cheques payable to Pigs
Inn Heaven Ltd and send
to the address at the top of
the newsletter.
All donations go to looking and
caring for all the animals and we
very much appreciate your
support.
Thank you.

Short Poem
There is a pig called Daisy who
continually drives us crazy, but when
she is there, she takes good care of all
the pigs that surround her.
Meet Daisy.
