Orchard’s laboratory information systems provide you with the tools to help you

maintain a productive laboratory despite current staffing shortages, tightening

reimbursements, and changing healthcare environments. Utilizing process automation;

robust instrument, billing, host system, and reference laboratory interfaces; and rules-

based decision-support technology, Orchard’s systems address regulatory issues, improve

efficiency, reduce errors, and increase reimbursements.

Awards & RecognitionWe know your purchase is more than an LIS, and to be a truly great company we must understand your expectations and then exceed those expectations in both the product and in your experience with the company itself. Orchard’s customer-focused approach is confi rmed time and time again through numerous awards and recognition.

Order EntryHost system integration and the decision-support technology available in Harvest LIS help to manage the order entry process, eliminating errors, increasing revenue, and helping your order entry staff save time and speed up the check-in/order process.

Reimbursement ScreeningImprove reimbursements and simplify the time-consuming task of medical necessity validation during order entry by automatically screening for ICD-9 codes, testing frequency, and experi-mental procedures, and when necessary, generating an ABN.

Rules-based Decision-Support TechnologyCustomizable rules reduce errors and aid in decision making for order entry, billing/CPT codes, splitting orders, auto-approval of patient results, refl exing additional testing, automatic comments, clinical follow-up recommendations, and result delivery.

Patient ReportsPatient report formats are customizable and can present historical results in a graphical format, and you can easily format cumulative reports to satisfy the requests of individual providers.

Result Delivery Orchard’s systems have several customizable reporting options, enhancing your lab’s value to providers and patients. Upon approval in the lab, reports can be printed, faxed, emailed, web-delivered, or sent to a host system to meet each provider’s needs.

Patient RecordsPatient results are fi led electronically in the patient’s record, so they are readily available to view, print, fax, email, web-deliver, or send to a host system, eliminating paper fi les and the time-consuming task of manually locating and delivering them.

Administrative ReportsStreamlined administrative queries are a quick and easy source for information, giving you the data you need to monitor and increase productivity and quality in your lab.

Data MiningData browsers by Patient, Order (Case in AP), Order Choice (Specimen in AP), and Result are data mining tools that make it very easy to create ad hoc reports and to schedule them to run automatically, without the need for complex programming or the help of the IT department.

Quality ControlConfi gurable Westgard rules and extensive support for qualitative and quantitative QC make QC management quick and easy, and QC approval rules prevent patient results from being reported before QC results are approved.

System SecurityIn today’s HIPAA-conscious environment, security is an important concern for labs, and robust security features assist your system administrator in managing security in a variety of ways.

Systems IntegrationHarvest LIS is the clear choice for “best-of-breed” integrated systems. Using the HL7 format, billing, host system, EMR/HIS, and reference laboratory interfaces are routine, and the seamless integration of multiple laboratory sites is possible.

Installation ProcessFor every installation, an Orchard Systems Engineer will come on-site to ensure that your system is running smoothly and that the system administrator knows its inner-workings inside and out.

User Training To get the full advantage of the robust features in your laboratory system, Orchard off ers four diff erent training classes throughout the year at our headquarters in Carmel, Indiana.

Technical SupportAll three annual support options include all software upgrades and 24/7/365 one-on-one technical support. In addition, our symposiums, online user groups, newsletters, and website provide answers, ideas, and tips to ensure that you’re never on your own.

Web-based Outreach, Lab Networks, and EMR IntegrationA variety of outreach, lab networking, and EMR integration options are available to improve the marketability of your laboratory by providing your customers with a single, simple, and cost-eff ective solution for remote order entry and result delivery.

Microbiology ModuleOrchard’s Microbiology module eliminates paper and gives your microbiology department the benefits of rules-based power to manage workflow and provide technical direction. In addition, CLSI/NCCLS-approved antibiograms make tracking susceptibility patterns simple by automatically eliminating duplicate results.

Orchard PathologyOrchard Pathology, installed as a stand-alone system or fully integrated with Harvest LIS, is an intuitive, easy-to-use system that provides users with all the benefits of electronic record-keeping, rules-based decision support, and the integration of clinical and molecular data on a single patient report.

Blood Bank & BillingAs a “best-of-breed” interoperable system, Orchard works with a variety of blood bank and billing system vendors to develop and install fully integrated packages to fulfi ll the requirements of hospitals and independent reference laboratories.

Orchard keeps growing because we listen to our customers. The input from our

diverse user base drives the continuous development of our systems and helps us

perfect our LIS to provide the broadest set of features equipped to handle a variety of

laboratory workflows and business situations. Orchard is committed to developing, in-

stalling, and supporting the very best laboratory information system. This commitment

is the reason for our success, and we’ve been recognized for doing just that.

Top of ClassFor many years, readers of Advance for Administrators of the Laboratory voted Orchard Software the Top of the Class in Laboratory Information Systems. Some of the reasons noted were: fl exible and inexpensive, easy to maneuver, excellent tech service department, open lines of communication, and responsiveness.

Orchard’s Highest Rating for Web-connectivityRecently, users of Orchard’s web-connectivity product were polled for Lab Economics, and for the last two years, Orchard’s users gave Orchard the highest combined rating over all other ven-dors surveyed. This high rating was based on customer satisfaction and willingness to buy again, which put Orchard at the top of this web vendor survey.

Highest Customer SatisfactionIn 2005, Orchard Software was awarded Frost & Sullivan’s Customer Value Enhancement (CVE) Award for the LIS industry. This award was given to Orchard in recognition of our ongoing customer initiatives that have led to the highest satisfaction rates in the industry.

Best in KLASIn 2003, KLAS began including Orchard Software in its research and reporting, and since then, Orchard Software has consistently maintained the highest overall score of all other LIS vendors in the respective Market Segment Categories. In early 2005, Orchard was bestowed the Best in KLAS award for 2004 for being #1 vendor in the Community Hospital Clinical and Ancillary Solutions category in the Top 20 Year-end Best in KLAS Awards report 2004.

More recently, as published in the Top 20 Year-end Best In KLAS Awards report 2008, Orchard Software was ranked the #1 LIS vendor in the Community Hospital and Ambulatory Solutions categories. Orchard re-ceived an overall score of 92.22 out of 100 in the Community Hospital category and 90.80 out of 100 in the Ambulatory Solutions category. No other LIS vendor listed in the survey received an overall score above 90.

In December 2008, KLAS published their biennial Comprehensive Laboratory Information System Study where ten LIS vendors were evaluated. Orchard continues to lead the pack in 2008! Since Orchard was fi rst included in KLAS research, Orchard has consistently maintained its high performance, leading to consistently high scores.

To quote KLAS from the 2008 LIS study, “Product quality, development, customer service, and imple-mentations are all seen as a signifi cant strengths. It is exciting to see a vendor doing so many things this well. From the beginning, a lot of people have had a wow experience with Orchard. Th eir training is a wow. Th e installer is a wow. Th ey have very knowledgeable,

responsive support people, and that is a wow. Th eir development is very plugged in. User groups report programmers or engineers listening in the back of the room; that is a wow.”

KLAS monitors and reports on the performance of Healthcare Information Technology vendors. KLAS interviews thousands of healthcare professionals to create a dynamic database of performance information on HIT software and products. For more information, visit KLAS’ website at www.klasresearch.com.

Host system integration and the decision-support technology available in Orchard’s

systems help to eliminate errors, increase revenue and save time during the check-

in/order process. You can use order entry rules to manage or eliminate duplicate orders

or tests not appropriate for the patient age or gender, to route tests to outside labs if the

insurance company reimburses less than it costs to do the test in-house, to automatically

add venipuncture charges, and more.

Host Interfaces Increase ReimbursementsUse an interface from Harvest LIS to your EMR or practice management system to capture real-time updates to patient insurance and billing records, and you’ll never risk losing a reimbursement because a sample was tested at a laboratory not authorized by the patient’s insurance plan.

Rules can be set up based on insurance, provider, or other criteria to ease the process of test routing. Th is ensures that the tests are being performed in the correct lab to maximize reimbursements and eliminate duplicate tests.

Order entry rules can ensure that samples are sent to dif-ferent labs, without having to enter the order separately, saving time and reducing order entry errors.

Simplify Order RoutingWithin a health network, ordering laboratory work can be a complicated process. Order entry can involve multiple locations for ordering, drawing, and testing. Successful ordering involves the management of ever-changing insurance plans and contracted laboratory testing, correct diagnosis codes, destination fi lters, and split order rules to route orders to the correct testing laboratory.

Decision support technology in Harvest LIS can be confi gured to automatically split orders during order entry based on the sample type, storage temperature, testing location, order location, billing status, order choice priority (Routine, ASAP, and STAT), or order choice type (microbiology, hema-tology, etc.). Rules trigger alerts before the order is saved, eliminating the potential for errors.

To streamline the sample distribution process, Harvest LIS supports test orders for both interfaced and non-interfaced reference laboratories. For orders requiring multiple testing locations, Harvest LIS auto-matically splits the order and prints specifi c labels, requisitions, and/or manifests, based on the routing specifi cations. And if an insurance company reimburses less than it costs your laboratory to perform the test in-house, order entry rules allow you to route poorly reimbursed tests to outside labs.

Confi gure patient alerts to notify users of certain patient-specifi c information. Once defi ned in the patient fi le, the alert will display each time an order is placed for that patient.

Create order entry rules to alert users when an order is incorrect. Th e alert window color can be customized to draw attention. Order entry rules can also be confi gured to automatically perform an action, such as deleting a BMP from an order where a CMP was also ordered.

Medical Necessity Checking Made EasyWith Harvest LIS, maintaining your medical necessity checking is simple. You can download the master ICD-9 dictionary and National Coverage Determinations (NCDs) from Orchard Software’s website and easily import them into your Harvest LIS database.

Orchard Harvest LIS improves reimbursements and simplifies the time-consuming

task of manual medical necessity validation by automatically screening ICD-9

codes, testing frequency, and experimental procedures during order entry.

Test Routing Rules Maximize

ReimbursementsOrder entry rules allow you to route poorly reimbursed tests to more cost-effi cient reference laboratories, should an insurance company reimburse your lab less than it costs to perform the test in-house.

Documentation of Problem OrdersTh e Reimbursement Problem Report docu-ments all orders with medical necessity, fre-quency, and research reimbursement issues, which allows you to proactively address concerns with your providers.

Rules for Order EntryOrder entry rules can be used to manage or eliminate duplicate orders or tests not appropriate for the patient age or gender, to route tests to other labs based on patient’s insurance, to split orders, to automatically add venipuncture charges, and more. Rules alert the user before the order is saved, eliminating the potential for errors.

Rules for Result EvaluationHarvest LIS’ rules-based technology ensures the consistent execution of procedures, increases the productivity of your staff , and increases the speed of training new staff members. You can base rules on numerous data points, including test results, delta violations, providers, locations, patients, order priorities, and patient ages. You can also determine what actions Harvest LIS takes when a rule is triggered, such as adding required comments, holding tests, refl exing order choices, or printing form letters.

Harvest LIS captures instrument fl ags and error messages, eliminating instrument printouts and allowing technologists to review results at a single workstation. Th is feature is particularly benefi cial in the Hema-tology lab, where there can be diff erent technologists performing hemograms and manual diff erentials.

Rules for Result Delivery With Harvest LIS’ rules for result delivery, you can automate the delivery of printed and/or faxed reports based on many conditions, including the provider, order location, draw location, test location, reporting group, order priority (Routine, ASAP, and STAT), or severity of the order. Th is eliminates manual steps that are time consuming and prone to error.

Rules for Microbiology Thresholds and Anatomic Pathology Result EvaluationBecause the Harvest LIS Microbiology module and Orchard Pathology system are fully inte-grated with Harvest LIS, robust rules-based decision-making power is available throughout the modules. With the Microbiology module, you can write microbiology threshold rules. You can document Kirby-Bauer zone sizes and let Harvest LIS provide interpretations using threshold rules based on organism, antibiotic type, and source. Th e module also supports CLSI/NCCLS deduced drugs. For pathology, you may create rules to present technical instructions automati-cally. As an example, you can customize result evaluation rules for workfl ow scenarios to suit an individual pathologist’s needs, and set up automatic refl ex ordering for send-out tests and correla-tions based on the interpretation/results.

Rules for CPT CodesDesign CPT rules to automatically consolidate or change billing codes if testing conditions require it. For example, the decision to report a manual diff erential could trigger a rule to suppress the CBC with an automated diff erential billing code and change it to a hemogram with platelets and a manual diff erential code. You can create as many custom profi les as you want and let Harvest LIS’ CPT/billing rules ensure that the proper codes are assigned. Having accurate coding for work performed will increase reimbursements.

(800) 856-1948 www.orchardsoft.com

It is very easy to see when a rule has been triggered. Th e Review Results window highlights the result that has met a rule’s crite-ria in bright yellow, alerting the technologist that further action is required.

Th e Triggered Rules window displays the suggested action for the technologist when a rule is fi red.

“My favorite thing about Harvest is the way rules make the product so easy to use. I went through a period of two years without an applicant, so the rules and ease of use made it very easy to train tempo-rary help.” — Keree Olsen, Wray Community Hospital

Result Delivery

Enhance the value of your laboratory to providers with Orchard’s customizable report-

ing options, which allow you to communicate results in a timely and sophisticated

manner. Upon approval in the lab, reports can be printed, faxed, emailed, web-

delivered, or sent to a host system to meet providers’ individual needs.

Automate Result Delivery to Provider PreferencesOrchard’s rules-based result delivery technology and print, fax, email, and Internet reporting options give you the fl exibility to set up auto-delivered reports and courtesy copies to single or multiple providers in the format each one prefers. Upon approval of results, auto-delivery rules immediately trigger remote delivery of printed reports, saving the time of manual delivery. You may create global schedules for automatic result delivery, as well as printer-specifi c schedules that will override the global schedules, if required. Use the Result Delivery Log to verify or track report deliveries, eliminating manual confi rmation of receipt.

Orchard knows that one of the most important functions in any laboratory information

system is the ability to use the data contained in the system for various reporting needs

and quality assurance initiatives. Orchard’s systems provide the ability to easily and efficiently

report information on any field in the database utilizing a user-friendly graphical user interface

built directly into the software. This comprehensive data mining functionality provides the lab

with its own easy-to-use report writing tool, eliminating the need for separate data mining

programs (e.g. Crystal Reports) or additional IT support to program, set up, and run lab reports.

Reports Without Complicated ProgrammingUsing the various data browsers (Result, Order Choice, Order, and Patient), you can select search criteria related to specifi c patients, order choices, orders, and tests, and then view results that match those criteria. By using the robust user interface, you can simultaneously pull data from a multitude of diff erent fi elds. Once you have built the fi lter and gathered the information, you can save the criteria to use at a later date. You can then export the contents of the browser into other programs (e.g. Excel), distribute it as needed, or format it for reports and printing. You can even schedule Harvest LIS to create and print your reports automatically, without the need for complex programming or the help of the IT department.

Increase ReimbursementsUtilizing the Result Browser to generate administrative reports may lead to increased reimbursements from insurance companies. Harvest LIS easily displays a history of order choices or tests performed so that you can provide timely and consistent information to providers and insurance companies, increasing the likelihood of complete reimbursement.

Simplify Monthly Reports via Administrative ReportsUse Harvest LIS’ data browsers to write detailed queries and save criteria for recurring reports. For example, use the Harvest LIS Result Browser to monitor a technologist’s productivity on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis; or quickly view the volume of patients you test at your laboratory, along with the frequency of certain tests. Th ese features allow managers to focus less on administrative paper trails and more on increasing productivity and quality in the laboratory.

(800) 856-1948 www.orchardsoft.com

Using Harvest LIS’ robust browsers, mining data is quick and easy. You can select all of the options you want to browse in any set of data. Additionally, you can save criteria and/or schedule automatic browsers to run unattended at certain times. Th ese unique features make management of data simple, allowing you to focus more time on your laboratory.

Harvest LIS has the ability to export data from data browsers into a comma-delimited fi le that can be opened in Micro-soft Excel for your data manipulation needs.

“My lab services a 60 physician group. I have worked with 3 diff erent lab systems over the course of my 30 year career. I am frequently asked by administration to provide statistical information and data assessment for all kinds of strategic plans. I also use the browser functions in Orchard to assess and troubleshoot instru-ment performance. Whatever the issue is, I am always able to provide the information needed in a matter of minutes. From any of the previous systems, this kind of information would take days or sometimes weeks to get and quite often required some kind of additional payment as well. To me, personally, it is ‘priceless.’” — Prudence Cass, Hawthorne Medical Associates

Using Security Groups, system administrators can restrict access to patient results and limit

user access to match job requirements. Line-item assignment of security options allows

you to create as many security groups as you need.

Track User Actions to Ensure Appropriate System and Data AccessHarvest LIS also tracks user actions within the system, including successful sign-ins, unsuccessful sign-in attempts, and attempts to access patient data via the patient fi le or data browsers.

Flexible Password Security OptionsBecause user passwords are often a security concern, system administrators can confi gure the system to expire passwords automatically, as well as use pass-word content rules to require that users select secure passwords with various character combinations and case sizes. In addition, administrators can confi gure system security to lock user accounts after a speci-fi ed number of unsuccessful sign-in attempts.

Th e User Actions Log can be used for monitoring the integrity of your patients’ records. Tracking all user actions from sign-in attempts, patient views, and browser views, it shows the user who accessed the information and the computer the action originated from.

n, administrators can confi gure k user accounts after a speci-cessful sign-in attempts.

Password security is enhanced with sign-in attempt lockouts and expiration dates.

Extensive Audit Trail of Changes to the DatabaseTh e Change Log records key changes to the database and provides a complete audit trail. Harvest LIS stores alterations of patient demographics, orders, and database tables in an easily accessible format that is both searchable and printable.

Internet Security through Secure Socket Layers (SSL)If you plan to have web users access Harvest LIS from the Internet using Harvest Webstation or Orchard Copia, then you should use SSL, the indus-try standard for encrypting sensitive data. You may also confi gure the web server to only accept secured connections.

Streamline Password Maintenance with LDAP AuthenticationHarvest LIS has the ability to utilize Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) Authentication through facility domain controllers. Th is technol-ogy further secures the Harvest LIS application within your facility and provides your IT staff with the ability to easily maintain security levels and passwords for your personnel.

Th e User Change Log documents the exact date and time that any Harvest LIS user made a change to a patient record.

“Billing used to be de-layed 14 to 30 days be-fore Harvest LIS. Now charges are handled within a day. Th e task of manually posting a day of lab charges to the billing system used to take nearly 16 hours. Now one person is able to review and accept the charges via the interface in less than 45 minutes. Our revenue spiked signifi cantly when we implemented the billing interface due to standardized posting of modifi ers and 100% capture of charges. It was the most profi table interface that we have implemented!” — Lisa Zinkovich,Melbourne InternalMedicine Associates

Order Entry and Result Delivery through Host Systems Save TimeEliminate time-consuming phone calls by implementing electronic remote order entry through your host or EMR/HIS system. Th is will ensure that the testing laboratory electronically receives the necessary demo-graphic, billing, and clinical information, and that samples are delivered, already bar coded, and ready to run.

Charges Forwarded to Billing Systems Ease Strain on Billing DepartmentHarvest LIS automatically screens for payable diagnosis codes at order entry and assigns the appropriate modifi ers when needed. Orchard’s rules-based technology determines whether to add or suppress billing/CPT codes or modifi ers to refl ect the testing performed, and then automatically drops the billing record into the patient’s account. Using a billing interface with your Harvest LIS, your billing department will no longer be required to hand-key laboratory charges, so it can focus on other functions, like E/M code auditing.

Hundreds of Instrument Interfaces Reduce Errors from Manual Data EntryWith installations throughout the country, Harvest LIS supports an extensive list of instrument interfaces, which grows longer every day. Bar coded sample labels enable direct tube auto-sampling with bar code scanners, which reduces errors and saves time by eliminating manual entry of patient information and results.

Physician Offi ce/Clinic Laboratory

Bi-directional Reference Lab Interfaces Eliminate Paper StorageWith an electronic interface between Harvest LIS and one or more of your reference laboratories, Harvest LIS is the single source for order entry, regardless of the testing laboratory. Harvest LIS compiles results from in-house and reference laboratories into a single, electronic patient report, eliminating paper storage and simpli-fying access to historical data. Orchard has interfaces with numerous national and regional reference labs.

Orchard Copia Enhances ConnectivityFor laboratories doing outreach or integrating a network of laboratory sites, Harvest LIS, in conjunction with Orchard Copia, off ers a web-based solution for remote access and linking multiple sites’ labs under a single laboratory order management and result delivery system. Copia’s web-based integration and outreach capabilities improve remote order entry and result delivery, EMR integration, test routing and consolidation, lab network ef-fi ciency, and reimbursement revenue (see the Web-based Outreach tab in this folder for additional information).

“I attend the Advanced User Training yearly and fi nd it very benefi cial for several reasons. Orchard usually has a new soft-ware version yearly, so this gives the super user the opportunity to learn the new version before going live. I usually will go to class to learn about the new version then come back to work and install it. We are also on the Gold plan to include attend-ing training class yearly. As a super user you probably have other duties besides this task and going to the class gives you the opportunity to learn so many features to the software and inter-act with other laboratories to see how their software is set up.”— Debra Galan, Women’s Health Laboratories

“I am currently attend-ing the Advanced User Training in Carmel. I HIGHLY recomend this to everyone....We are only on the begining of the 3rd day and it has surpassed my expectations...

Th is training really al-lows you to learn and put to use all these powerful features that are available that we can all use to improve workfl ow, result delivery, etc., etc., and keep everyone happy (us-ers and clients) in a very effi cient way.”— Carmen T. Cortes-Ramos, Bionetics Corp. (Life Sciences Support Contract)

“I highly recommend the [Har-vest LIS Advanced User] class even if you have gone to one in the past. Each user has set up Harvest in their own unique manner and you learn so much talking to other users and the knowledgeable Orchard staff . Each Harvest version contains so many enhancements and this is the best way to learn about them and see new ways of using Harvest.

A very defi nite plus: Orchard treats its customers better than any other vendor I have worked with! Th ey always manage to surprise me by giving me more than I expected. Keep up the good work.”— Carol Schreck, ITxM Diagnostics

requisitions, reduce errors, save time, improve efficiency, and increase revenue.

Orchard® Harvest™ WebstationHarvest Webstation, used as a module with Orchard Harvest LIS, is primarily designed to give web access to users within a single legal business entity, with a focus on low cost for implementation and general simplicity. It was de-signed for laboratories serving their own providers, to run on the same server that runs Harvest LIS, to access the same database, and to work well over the Internet.

Orchard® Copia®Copia is designed to take access and laboratory networking needs to the next level. It is designed for labs doing refer-ence lab work from multiple customers, handling wide access for several separate legal business entities, supporting multiple lab settings, holding more data in a larger database, and putting more interfacing capabilities into the hands of the laboratory.

Flexible Rules-based Decision-Support TechnologyCustomizable rules exist throughout each system for order entry, splitting orders, auto-approval of patient results, re-fl exing additional testing, automatic comments, result delivery, and billing/CPT codes, and they can be defi ned based on numerous data fi elds, such as by user, order location, test, or day of the week.

Automatic ICD-9 Code CheckingDuring order entry, both systems check medical necessity, frequency, and ICD-9 codes and fl ag questionable orders for review. When necessary, an ABN can be printed in either English or Spanish. Th ese checks happen automatically, saving time and maximizing reimbursements.

Accurate Remote Sample CollectionWith either system, you can review patient orders remotely from any PC with web access, and preview a draw list, gener-ate a worklist, produce bar code labels, or complete a shipping manifest. Clinical questions, container type information, and personalized comments are presented on-screen or printed for each order, reducing errors and expediting collection.

Secure Access to Results 24/7From any PC with web access, providers can view the patient’s current result, the result with previous history, or even display a graph comparing all current and past results. Various security settings provide the necessary fl exibility for secure access while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Easy Data Mining & Management ReportsData browser tools, available only in Copia, allow you to create and save ad hoc management reports directly from your desktop PC. You can schedule reports to run automatically, and the user-friendly interface does not require com-plex programming or the help of the IT department.

Automated Order RoutingCopia is designed to integrate and support a lab network, where order entry involves multiple lab systems—even mul-tiple workstations—and users have to review a patient’s insurance before routing the test. Copia, as the central order-ing system, automatically handles the location-dependent test codes, patient insurance, and lab routing preferences.

Customized, Consolidated, and Consistent ReportingA bonus feature of Copia is its customized report formats, which can combine patient test results from one or more laboratories into a single report. With authorized access, providers may review current and past results, both in text and graphic formats. Th is improves the quality of your re-ports and facilitates informed decision making.

Link Your Labs and Keep Your LISCopia is designed to work with Harvest LIS or as a “bolt on” outreach system to existing lab systems. For multiple lab locations with disparate LISs, Copia can be used to link the disparate lab systems and create a single depository database for patient results.

Th is is an example of a reference lab utilizing Copia as an outreach solution bolted onto Harvest LIS or a legacy LIS.

The Orchard Microbiology module works in conjunction with Harvest LIS to provide your microbiol-

ogy department with all the advantages of the rules-based decision support and the bi-directional

flow of data. This improves efficiency, reduces errors, increases reimbursements, and eliminates the use

and storage of logbooks and paper worksheets. As microbiology departments look for additional oppor-

tunities to expand their test menus to include DNA probe testing and other methodologies, Harvest LIS

will assist you in increasing productivity, without adding staff.

Electronic Worksheets Eliminate PaperHarvest LIS’ electronic microbiology worksheets are intuitive, easy-to-use, and eliminate the need for paper documenta-tion. To save time and simplify data management, microbiologists can quickly and easily record observations; add tests as needed; print sample, media, and slide labels; create reports; and approve results. Once you place the original microbiol-ogy order, you can add additional tests or order choices directly from the electronic worksheet. You do not need to repeat the order entry process.

Analyzer Interfaces Eliminate Transcription ErrorsWith interfaces between Harvest LIS and your microbiology analyzers, data fl ows electronically, eliminating transcrip-tion errors and saving time. Th e Harvest LIS Microbiology module interfaces to most microbiology instruments.

“I work for a Urology group and the group decided to expand our lab to include AP. We purchased the Orchard AP module and our physicians and patholo-gist are very pleased. I think our reports (which are custom) look better than any other reference lab we have used in the past. Orchard has done a beautiful job helping us customize our reports.” — Eyre Klindt, Metropolitan Urologic Specialists, P.A.
