While * believe &resident (bama is a great speaker and can be ver% persuasive. his speech did not convince me to support the +A ,reedom Act. * mistrust all politicians. regardless of political part%. and for that reason * don/t believe most of the things the% sa%. )his speech. like most political speeches. was too vague. *t spoke of &resident (bama/s beliefs on the matter. what he claimed would happen if the +A ,reedom Act was not passed. and what the benefits of it passing would be. However. it didn/t give ver% man% specifics as to what the +A ,reedom Act actuall% allowed. &resident (bama did mention a few things. such as the roving wiretap. that helped government official/s better track terrorist. but when it came to the -transparenc%2 the +A ,reedom Act would add to. there was nothing specific mentioned. * believe this was done intentionall% to pla% on the American people/s fear of possible terrorist attacks. while attempting tocalm their fear of the government over stepping itself and limiting people/s freedoms and infringing on their privac%. * think the speech was designed this wa%. as man% are. to be persuasive and gain support while still being vague enough so that if things do come to light that shows how the +A ,reedom Act will actuall% infringe on our privac% rights. &resident (bama cannot be called a liar. )hat/s not to sa% the +A ,reedom Act will do such things. * do not know enough about it to speak on that. but this speech is clearl% leaving plent% of wiggle room for things unmentioned. * feel like this is a common occurrence in man% political speeches. not necessaril% l%ing. but leaving out parts and being vague enough so that it could be interpreted several wa%s. '% having some specifics that clearl% sound good and leaving out details on other parts. such as the -transparenc%2. the &resident can sound like he is supporting the peoples best interest while still leaving room for things the people ma% not like or support.
