Austria's greatest

That's what

we're saying

these days

when

we see tlim supplying every need so

that

we

can leave for

Europe

on schedule. We

are

confident

He

will

complete the

work

He

has

begun.

CHURCHES

The

farther East you get into Europe, the

more you see build

ings

like this one, some

still used for worship,

others turned by

the

Communist leaders into museums and schools. The Christians, forced

out,

scatter and

dig

in elsewhere.

One

such Yugoslav family

has returned

to

their home town

along the

remote Albanian

border, where there

are many

Muslims, and

until recently no Christians. They

have

endured persecution

and hardship for the

past

ten years

in

order

to

share their faith with the

people there. Today

a

growing church

of

about 30 people meet in

a

building

they have constructed with

their

own hands.

Modling (MERD-LING) forty minutes from

Vienna, and fifteen from

we'll

have the

Extension College. It's

immaculate,

nicely decorated

(mauve and silver-grey with gold, and a

pale

green carpet)

furnished,

and

in

a

quiet

area. The Liechtenstein

Castle

ruins are

just over the

hill, and

the

Seegrotte,

Europe's

largest underground lake,is up the road. A group of summer missions

interns came over last

week

to dedicate

it to the

Lord

open doors

down-to-earth and

good.

T h e Rumanian mee ti ng began at 4:00 p.m^ and

was

not over until about 7:00

p.m.

including two

long sermons, prayer,

testimonies,

and special numbers.

The

fervent spirit of the congregation crossed

even the

language barriers, as we

strained

to sort

out

the translation

from

Rumanian

-

to German

-

to English.

Doctrine

was

probably

not altogether s o u nd ' in

either

church, but

the

Spirit

of

Christ

was evident, and He was free to bless the people

MINISTRY - Woodrow teaches classes Tuesdays and Thursdays at TCM's College

Extension, about eight

miles

south

of

where we

live.

The

latter

part of

September,

he helped

escort two

vanloads of students

and others on

a ten

day

trip to Italy,

driving

one of the vans both ways. Marjorie continues home-

making,

counseling,

and writing.

M a r j o r i e f e mother, recently celebrated her 84th birthday

trip

to San

Diego

to be

with her.

- The

joy of learning is

a

big part

of

our

experience here.

The

biggest

learning hurdle is

the

German

language - the most useful of all others throughout

Europe.

Five

class hours a week - study - practice - listening. The

progress

is steady,

but

seems

so

slow.

T h e learning

w e e x p e r i e n c e d on

the

tour

to Italy

was a

l i f e

long treasure—seeing some of the greatest art and sculpture

of

all time -

tracing

the history

of

ancient Rome, and the

beginning

and growth

of

Christianity was a special feature

of

our study.
