8. Teacher's academic profile Kaify Jamil Qadir has MSc degree in Pediatric Nursing in
Hawler Medical University/College of Nursing and PhD
student in Pediatric Nursing from Hawler Medical
University. He is an assistant Lecturer of Pediatric
Nursing at Hawler Medical University, Erbil, Iraq. He
teaches theory and Clinical of pediatric Nursing, Clinical
Consolidation and Clinical Growth and Development.
Also he has already teached different courses of
fundamental of Nursing, Health Assessment and Clinical
of Adult Nursing. He has 7 publications. His current
research work is mainly related to physical activity, diet
habits, obesity and diabetic type 1 in children. Before
pursuing the academic career, he established two years
of experience as nursing Rotator in Rizgary Teaching
Hospital.

10. Course overview: This course introduced the student to appropriate scientific knowledge which enables them to develop their own unique clinical and educational approach to care of children and their families. This course moves from simple to complex issues; starting with concepts of normal growth and development, health promotion and maintenance, and the prevention of illnesses and accidents and then to selected health problems (chronic and common health problems, and communicable diseases). This is achieved through utilizing the nursing process, developmental theories, new trends and the latest approaches in the management and caring of children. The course encourages students to utilize knowledge synthesis, problem solving techniques, critical thinking, and family centered approached in the provision of empowered care. 11. course objectives Upon completion of this course, each student will be able to: 1. Understand concepts and related principles related to child health nursing that reflect care of children from a wellness to an illness perspective and from birth to adolescence. 2. Delineate the role of the child health nurse in providing care for children and their families at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of care for the different age groups.

3. Discuss the growth and development of children from birth throughout adolescence with emphasis on the methods of assessment. 4. Describe different nursing approaches to the assessment and provision of care for children and their families related to health promotion, disease prevention and health restoration within the framework of the nursing process. 5. Outline a plan of nursing care for the newborn infant, child and adolescent with a common health problem.
Practical Objectives:
1. Utilize the nursing process & to deal with child’s health problems. 2. Emphasis on preventive aspects of care to promote health for children and adolescent. 3. Implement nursing care for children with:
i. respiratory diseases ii. gastrointestinal diseases
4. Apply pediatric nursing procedures related to: i. restraining
ii. CSF iii. Setting IV fluid iv. Giving I.M Injection
5. Measure anthropometric measurement ( height, weight, head and chest circumferences) 6. Analyze critically the condition of the children and adolescents with blood diseases. 7. Applied scientific approach during practice of nursing care with children and adolescents. 8. Identify the needs of children and adolescents with special needs (handicapped children). 9. Identify child hood and adolescent diseases (medical and surgical diseases) in relation to its causes,
complications, and its nursing care.
12. Student's obligation The students need to be in a class room or clinical area on time (punctual). Also the students should be prepare all
requirements and assignments and do the exams. The students must be respecting their teacher, colloquies and
clients.
13. Forms of teaching Theory: lecture halls with computers equipment for lecture presentations, white board, and data show. Clinical practice: equipment available in various clinical settings General: library, computer suite with internet access

4. Identify areas related to accidents in childhood and preventive measures.
5. Describe t he major methods of pain management in children.
6. Utilize knowledge of congenital physical anomalies with the nursing process to achieve quality child nursing
care.
7. Describe common nursing interventions used in the health care of children to aid diagnosis and therapy.
