KEYNOTE PRESENTATION - ‘LIFE AFTER THE PHD?: WHAT DO EMPLOYERS WANT’

Around 60% of research students now exit the academy when they finish their PhD. What sort of skills do these employers want? In this lecture, Dr Inger Mewburn will share the results of some research she has been doing with colleagues on doctoral employability. Rather than ask employers, Dr Mewburn and her associates explored the content of job ads themselves. What they found might surprise you. This lecture will get you thinking about what your options are when you graduate - and what you can do now to prepare for life after the PhD.
