University is 26.7480 degrees North
(latitude), 83.3812 degrees East
(longitude). The University, the first
to be established in Uttar Pradesh
after Independence and named after
the great political thinker, Pandit
Deen Dayal Upadhyaya is located in
the holy city of Gorakhpur and
inherits the spiritual and
philosophical legacy of Buddha,
Kabir and Guru Gorakshnath.
Spread over 191.21 acres, it houses
06 faculties comprising of 29
departments that have been playing a
significant role in imparting holistic
education to the people of the Eastern
region since its inception.

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University has been on the path of
delivering quality education by developing the young human resources on the
foundation of ethical and moral values, while boosting their leadership qualities,
research culture and innovative skills. An environment of meaningful interaction
and dialogue has been created between the teachers and the learners, so that an
atmosphere of academic excellence nourishes the pool of talent. The main
objective of the University is to provide higher education of global standards.
The programs offered by the University, also provide the Choice Based
Credit System(CBCS) with outcome-based approach. The flexibility in the
curriculum has been designed with industry-specific goal in mind . Highly
experienced and qualified faculty members are continuously engaged in the
maintenance and enhancement of student- centric learning environment through
innovative teaching. The evaluation mechanism employs continuous assessment

Research Policy of the University
Preamble:
The University is committed to provide congenial environment to all faculty members and
research scholars to do excellent research pertaining to both local and global issues. The
Research Promotion Policy of the university aims to help its faculty members, research
scholars and others stakeholders to achieve the excellence in “research, innovation and
entrepreneurship” contributing to upliftment of both institution and society.
Objectives:
• 1. To encourage faculty members to formulate specific research projects based on there are of specialization for financial support by different funding agencies.
• • 2. To initiate collaborations with national and international institutes/universities for
developing state-of-the art technologies relevant to different disciplines.
• • 3. To motivate the faculty members and PhD scholars to publish the outcomes of their
research in peer reviewed journal with high impact factors, file patents and transfer
technologies to relevant industries.

Eligibility for admission to Ph.D. पी-एच0डी0 पाठ्यक्रम में प्रवेश हेतु पात्रता
1. Candidates desirous of seeking admission for Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree must hold a Masters degree of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur in the relevant subject
or equivalent degree of any other University / Institute recognized by University Grants
Commission.
डा ॅ क्टर आफ फफलासफी (पी-एच0डी0) की उपाफि के फलये प्रवेश लेने के इचु्छक अभ्यफथिय ों क अफनवायितः सम्बन्धित फवषय में दीनदयाल उपाध्याय ग रखपुर फवश्वफवद्यालय, ग रखपुर की परास्नातक की उपाफि या/फवश्वफवद्यालय अनुदान आय ग द्वारा मान्यता प्राप्त फकसी अन्य फवश्वफवद्यालय/सोंस्थान की समतुल्य उपाफि िाररत करनी ह गी।
2. In the qualified eligibility postgraduate examination, minimum 55 percent marks will be required for the candidates of general category and other backward classes (creamy layer) and minimum 50
percent marks for other backward classes (non creamy layer), scheduled castes and scheduled tribes,
visually impaired and disabled.
य ग्यता प्रदायी परास्नातक परीक्षा में सामान्य वगि एवों अन्य फपछड़ा वगि (क्रीमीलेयर) के अभ्यफथिय ों के फलए नू्यनतम 55 प्रफतशत प्राप्ताोंक तथा अन्य फपछड़ा वगि (नान क्रीमीलेयर), अनुसूफचत जाफत एवों अनुसूफचत जनजाफत, दृफि बाफित एवों फदव्ाोंग ों के फलए नू्यनतम 50 प्रफतशत प्राप्ताोंक आवश्यक ह गा।
3. In graduation, it will be necessary to have a second class or minimum marks decided by the University Grant Commission from time to time.
स्नातक स्तर पर फद्वतीय शे्रणी अथवा फवश्वफवद्यालय अनुदान आय ग द्वारा समय-समय पर लागू फनयम ों के अनुसार प्राप्ताोंक ह ना आवश्यक ह गा।
4. Students studying in final year/semester of the Post Graduation can also appear for the Research Eligibility Test(RET). But at the time of admission they must have the Post Graduate degree and
should complete the required eligibility.

5. The candidates who have qualified the Research Eligibility Test(RET) of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University Gorakhpur for session 2019-20 but not taken the admission
in the Ph.D for session 2019-20, they will be exempted from the Research Eligibility Test(RET)
for the session 2020-21. Such candidates have to fill the online application form of Research
Eligibility Test(RET) 2020-21 to participate in the admission process.

6. The Research Eligibility Test will be conducted in two phases respectively (online test and interview) which will be of 200 marks. The online test will be of 140 marks and the interview will
be of 60 marks.
श ध पात्रता परीक्षा द चरण ों क्रमशः ऑनलाइन टेस्ट एवों साक्षात्कार में सम्पन्न ह गी फजसका पूणाांक 200 अोंक ों का ह गा। ऑनलाइन टेस्ट 140 अोंक ों का तथा साक्षात्कार 60 अोंक का ह गा।
7. The candidates who have secured 50 percent marks in the online test will be eligible for interview but SC / ST / OBC(Non Creamy layer) / Disabled (40 percent or more) candidates will be given 5
percent relaxation.
ऑनलाइन टेस्ट में 50 प्रफतशत अोंक प्राप्त करने वाले अभ्यथी ही साक्षात्कार के फलए अहि ह ोंगे लेफकन एस0सी0/एस0टी0/ओ0बी0सी0(नान फक्रमीलेयर) / फदव्ाोंग(फनःशक्तता 40 प्रफतशत या अफिक) अभ्यफथिय ों क 5 प्रफतशत की छूट प्रदान की जायेगी।
8. The selection of the candidate will be carried out on the basis of marks obtained in online test and interview combined together.
अभ्यफथिय ों का चयन ऑनलाइन टेस्ट और साक्षात्कार के सम्मफलत अोंक ों के आिार पर फकया जाएगा।
9. Common merit will be prepared for RET qualified students of session 2019-20 and 2020-21 organised by Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University Gorakhpur.
दीन दयाल उपाध्याय गोरखपुर ववश्वववद्यालय गोरखपुर द्वारा सत्र 2019-20 और 2020-21 में आयोजित “kks/k ik=rk ijh{kk उत्तीर्ण करने वाले उम्मीदवारों को ममलाकर मेररट तैयार की जाएगी।
1. Teachers having fellowship or serving as faculty in Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University and its affiliated /constituent colleges will be exempted from research eligibility test.
ज फशक्षक अधे्यतावृफियााँ िारक हैं अथवा दीनदयाल उपाध्याय ग रखपुर फवश्वफवद्यालय और इससे सम्बद्ध/समृ्पक्त/सोंघटक महाफवद्यालय ों में फशक्षक हैं, वे श ि पात्रता परीक्षा से मुक्त ह ोंगे।
2. Teachers of unapproved and self-funded colleges will not be exempted from research eligibility test.
अननुदाफनत एवों स्वफविप फषत महाफवद्यालय ों के फशक्षक श ि पात्रता परीक्षा से मुक्त नही ों ह ोंगे।
3. Regular teachers of foreign universities recognized by University Grants Commission recommended by their Embassy / High Commission and Defense personnel / officers of Indian
Armed Forces will be exempted from research eligibility test.
फवश्वफवद्यालय अनुदान आय ग द्वारा मान्यता प्राप्त फवदेशी फवश्वफवद्यालय ों के फनयफमत फशक्षक ज अपने दूतावास/उच्चाय ग द्वारा सोंसु्तत फकये गये ह ों एवों भारतीय सशस्त्र सेनाओों के प्रफतरक्षा कमी/अफिकारी श ि पात्रता परीक्षा से मुक्त ह ोंगे।
4. The candidates who have qualified the Research Eligibility Test(RET) of Deen Dayal
Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University Gorakhpur for session 2019-20 but not taken the
admission in the Ph.D for session 2019-20, they will be exempted from the Research
Eligibility Test(RET) for the session 2020-21. Such candidates have to fill the online
application form of Research Eligibility Test(RET) 2020-21 to participate in the admission
process.

Note: Candidates, who are exempted from the written test of Research Eligibility
Test(RET), have to submit their application online along with the required fee.
ररसचि पात्रता परीक्षा (RET) की र्िखित परीक्षा से छूट प्राप्त उम्मीदवार ों क आवश्यक शुल्क के भुगतान के साथ अपना आवेदन ऑनिाइन जमा करना ह गा।
Exemption from RET-2020-21
Weightage will be awarded in the research eligibility test as follows-
श ध पात्रता परीक्षा में र्नम्नानुसार अर्धभार देय ह गा-
1. A weightage of 05 percent will be given to the candidates selected by the UGC-CSIR, JRF / NET, GATE, UPSLET candidates.
यू0जी0सी0- सी0एस0आई0आर0 द्वारा चयफनत जे0आर0एफ0/नेट, गेट, यू0पी0से्लट अभ्यफथिय ों क 05 प्रफतशत अफिभार देय ह गा।
2. Candidates who have obtained Masters degree from Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University will receive a 05 percent weightage.
दीनदयाल उपाध्याय ग रखपुर फवश्वफवद्यालय से परास्नातक उपाफि प्राप्त करने वाले अभ्यफथिय ों क 05 प्रफतशत अफिभार देय ह गा।
3. A weightage of 10 percent will be given to wards of teachers, officers and staff of the university.
फवश्वफवद्यालय के फशक्षक, अफिकारी एवों कमिचारी पाल्य ों क 10 प्रफतशत अफिभार देय ह गा।
4. A weightage of 05 percent will be given to wards of teaching and non-teaching staff in affiliated/ associate colleges.
सम्बद्ध/सहयुक्त महाफवद्यालय ों में फशक्षक एवों फशक्षणेिर कमिचाररय ों के पाल्य ों क 05 प्रफतशत अफिभार देय ह गा।
Note: In any case, the maximum weightage will be 10 percent. र्कसी भी दशा में अर्धकतम अर्धभार 10 प्रर्तशत देय ह गा।

The candidate have to fill the online registration form. After the registration, a registration
number will be allotted to the candidate which will be used along with date of birth, in future,
for login purpose. The information filled in the registration form(Name, Date of Birth,
Graduation/Post Graduation passed details, Domicile, Category and gender) cannot be changed
after payment of fee.

After filling the form completely the candidate have to take the printout of the filled form for
future use. The form should be kept secured by the candidate and do not send the printout of the
form to university.

• Applicant should fill his/her name and date of birth, father and mother’s name as registered in
high school examination.

• In Gender, the applicant has to choose from one of the FEMALE/MALE/TRANSGENDER.
It is important to note that there are some courses which are only for female candidates.

whose parents are teachers or employees working in the university campus. Such an applicant
will have to contact the coordinator’s office after registration with the certificate of working in
the university obtained by the Registrar. Only then will he/she be able to fill the form.

• Domicile- If the applicant is residing in Uttar Pradesh, then he/she will choose UP. If his/her
residence certificate is from another state or country(Nepal, etc.) he/she will choose OTHER.
Applicant of other state or country will be considered as General Category.

At this point, the applicant will choose the Subject cadre/Subject of their qualifying
examination. For eg: If the applicant has appeared or passed the intermediate examination with
Bio then he/she will select Science(Bio) or if the applicant has appeared or passed the
intermediate examination with Commerce then he/she will select Commerce.

the standard will be decided by the university. This syllabus is available on the website of the

13. The applicant will be solely responsible for the correctness of all the information and entries to
be complemented in the online application process. In case a candidate is found hiding or
providing incorrect information at any time in the future, then his/her admission or candidature

departmental research committee of respective department of the university. It is mandatory for
the candidates to appear for the interview. Candidates who will not appear for the interview will

proper discussions with the committee members on their research interest / field.

19. Passing the research eligibility test does not mean that the candidate will get compulsory
admission to the research course. The University shall have the right to postpone / retain

20. Candidates are NOT allowed to carry any type of extra paper, mobile phone or any other
equipment in the examination hall.

21. It will be mandatory for every applicant to bring his / her admit card to appear in the online test.
The applicant will not be allowed to appear in the examination if there is no admit card.

22. The top rank holders of Research Eligibility Test(RET) of session 2020-21 will receive a fellowship from University.
शोध पात्रता परीक्षा 2020-21 के शीर्ष रैंक धारकों को ववश्वववद्यालय फेलोशशप प्रदान करेगा।
